Nathan and Jane Barbour built this home in the winter of 2010-11. Nathan, who is a builder/designer has built over 200 homes in our area. We have a family business and our son is also part of the construction team. Our rental home is located near our home which is privately situated at the end of a long paved, private driveway. In the winter we do our own snow removal so you will never be snowbound. We hope that you will enjoy our little piece of heaven the way that we do.
Jane Barbour - Owner and Caretaker purchased this house in 2010
This is not our vacation home as it sits near our residence. We built it to rent it! Anyone who has ever stayed in our home has mentioned how quiet and cozy it is.
Comfy, Cozy, Colonial Cottage! You'll be toasty warm this winter in our amazing home. Be sure and check out photos of the romantic bed in the master bedroom. The mattresses were updated this summer. There is a private door to the bath from the master. A complete laundry center is located in the hall on the sleeping level. You will love the deep soaking tub after a day of outdoor activity. This home is light and bright! We have an amazing Hearthstone Gas Fireplace . You can ski or snowshoe right from your front door over x-country trails.
This house far exceeded our expectations and was perfect for our honeymoon! We really appreciated all the details included the space. We could really tell the owner treated the home as if they were living there and it just really felt like home. We look forward to a return trip to this rental!!
Because of high school sports we were limited in the time we could be away over the break so we decided to try and find a place near Stowe Mountain Ski Resort so the kids could finally get some skiing in. We booked this cottage for four nights not knowing what to expect at all and we were pleasantly surprised with how quaint and lovely the cottage was. The ambiance of the interior is wonderful, so homey and we just felt so welcome and at home. Jane is a wonderful host providing us with everything we needed. It took us about 20 minutes to get to the Mountian every day which was not a big deal at all. Unless you can do ski in and ski out to us the twenty minute drive was worth it. I am sure in the spring summer and fall the property is just beautiful. We have already requested a revisit and we would highly reccommend this for a couples getaway or family getaway.
wonderful place, wonderful owners. recommend to all. Ray
We spent a long weekend at the "Candlelight Cottage" just before Christmas and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Jane and Nathan are great hosts who made us feel so welcome. The home is as warm and cozy as it appears in the photos! We really enjoyed the spacious kitchen/dining area for our pre-Christmas celebration. It is close to Stowe, in a private setting, surrounded by beautiful pine trees. We have already booked another stay in February, and would highly recommend the "Candlelight Cottage".

My husband and I stayed here over the Christmas/New Year break looking for a quiet place with plenty of snow and winter activities. The cottage is very close to the town of Morrisville, which has grocery stores, coffee shops, etc, but it's also at the end of a quiet road, so it feels like a country setting. It's a short drive to Stowe, and an even shorter drive to Mt. Elmore, where we went hiking & snowshoeing many times. The cottage is well built and very nicely laid out, with an open, well stocked kitchen/dining set up and lots of light, even in winter. The house borders a series of fields that are regularly groomed for cross country skiing. This was a major perk, as we could literally ski out the door. The owners, Jane & Nathan, were very accommodating and kept us supplied with wood for the wood burning stove and everything else we needed (there's also a normal heater, but the wood burning stove kept the house warm and cozy, even on some very cold nights). The bedrooms are also very nice and spacious, with comfortable beds. There is cable, internet and good cell phone reception (not always the case, we discovered, in other parts of Vermont). This is a great place for 2-4 people looking for a quiet, convenient retreat.
We are located just 5 minutes from the public beach and boat launch at beautiful Lake Elmore. Our home overlooks a lush green public ballfield where the entire family can enjoy using it for a game of softball or just to romp and play. Strap on your X-C skis and take a whirl around the school X-C ski trail that doubles as a walking trail in the summer. Open our little gate and go! In the summer bring your canoe or kayak, Green River Reservoir is just a 10 minute drive. Walk or drive to Morrisville Village where you'll find little eateries that all offer WIFI. Copley Hospital is just a 3 minute drive from our home. Copley Golf Course is also just 3 minutes by car. It's a hometown 9 hole course with a vintage clubhouse where you can buy lunch during the golfing season.
