|Minimum Stay||2 - 3 nights|
Our beautiful mountain house has breathtaking sunset views and offers a short walk to the slopes and lodge of Wintergreen. You can also take the free Wintergreen shuttle which stops just steps from our driveway. On the main level, stay warm and cozy in the large dining area with a wood burning stove where you can enjoy breakfast at the kitchenette overlooking the valley (seats 4) and dinner at the spacious dining table (seats 10). The dining room flows into the newly renovated kitchen complete with stainless steel appliances and granite counter-tops. It is well furnished to prepare a gourmet meal for your family or make a drink and head into the spacious living room which has a gas fireplace and lots of entertainment for the adults and kids. Kick back, put your feet up and relax with cable TV, wireless internet, dozens of DVDs, an XBOX 360 with games, and surround sound speakers wired through out the home (both indoors and out on the large deck). The first floor also features a master suite with a private bathroom and walk out deck.
Upstairs features a second master bedroom making this the perfect house for two families with children or just an intimate getaway. The third bedroom features two sets of bunk beds (sleeps 4) and the fourth bedroom has two single beds and a pull out single (sleeps 3). All bedrooms are tastefully decorated, have cable TV, tons of books, and a view you won't soon forget, as you sit perched high above the valley below.
If your not quite ready to sit down and relax just yet, then you are just a short walk to the Mountain Inn, slopes and several restaurants. There are also marked access trails near the house for great mountain hiking during all seasons. It is also just a short drive to the spa, golf and tennis courts. While staying at our Tree house, don't forget to visit some of Virginia's best wineries, breweries and cideries which are located just off route 151. We have maps available in case you want to spend the day touring. If you are looking for a winter ski rental for your family or just an intimate getaway, our quiet, beautifully decorated mountain house, nestled high in the tree tops is just the place for your perfect getaway.
We bought this house because of the beauty it has inside and out. From the sunset views overlooking the valley, to the tastefully designed interior decor, it is the ideal vacation home for our single, and sometimes extended family getaways. We want you to experience the same unforgettable vacations we do at the Tree house, because when you take the time off of work to relax, everything should be just perfect! Our goal is to make you feel at home by providing a welcoming, clean and fun family atmosphere. From the moment you walk in and are greeted with a welcome basket of coffee, wine, and hot cocoa, until the time you depart, relaxation and fun accompany you every step of the way.
Besides skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, fishing, golfing, hiking, and biking you can explore downtown Charlottesville, VA. We spend time at the MANY local wineries and breweries in the area and one of our favorite newest additions is the Bold Rock cidery at the base of Wintergreen mountain. There are many great restaurants, antique shops, and sites to see!
What a great weekend! Had a wonderful time visiting the local breweries and seeing the mountains. The house was clean and cozy and well worth money. The kitchen had all of the items that we needed and the kitchen table hosted many board and card games over the weekend. Thanks for the hospitality with the welcome basket! We will definitely be back!!
The home is beautiful and exactly as it was described. Picturesque views and comfortable, cozy interior made this vacation home a delight!
This home is absolutely fantastic for anything from a couple's getaway to a family retreat. My wife and toddler recently enjoyed a great weekend exploring Wintergreen, nearby wineries/cideries, and an abundance of hiking trails. As prior reviewers mentioned, the kitchen has an over-abundance of everything you'll need. In fact, we took advantage of a local farmer's market one morning and came back with enough fresh produce, meat, and treats to prepare home cooked meals for the entire weekend. There are enough movies, games, and kid-friendly toys to keep everyone entertained for hours on end. Enjoying that first cup of coffee on the deck each morning as the sun rose through the trees made for an unforgettable start to each day. From exploring Wintergreen Resort's activities (they happened to have a bonfire with live music and storytelling for the children one night) to visiting a few (of many!) breweries and cideries, we thoroughly loved our experience. Thank you Jennifer and Michael for sharing your home with us!
Pros: There is a lot of space; we had relatives, kids' boyfriends, girlfriends etc; the most we had there the whole week was 10 people, and there was plenty of space for sleeping, family meals at the big dining room table, games at night. I also really liked the clawfoot bathtub. If you like hiking, there are lots of trails nearby, which we enjoyed.
Cons: There is no AC, and many of the windows didn't have screens, so we couldn't open the windows even when the temps were in the 90's at night. Very uncomfortable, although to their credit the owners sent someone out on Sunday to install the screens. We went to Walmart and bought two box fans; we couldn't have survived with out them. Also, there's not much to do at Wintergreen during the summer, unless you want to pay for golf, spas, etc. The best value we found was Shernado Lake, about 15 minutes away, with a beach and nice lake for swimming.
PS: We donated a blender to your kitchen too.
My family and I stayed at the tree house. It was the perfect place for our large family. We are a party of 11 and we all fit comfortably in the four bedrooms. The home is stocked with everything you would need in the kitchen, except for food of course. The home is very clean. Getting up in the mornings and having our coffee in the peace and quiet of the community was perfect. Later in the day we would drive out and explore. We did Tubing in the river and horseback riding. This is a trip our family will remember for a very long time.
The owners are very nice and are easy to get a hold of when you need them.
The house is very nice and comfortable. Clean and modern. We had a great time during our week long stay in July. Hiked during the day and watched movies at night.There is no sunset mountain view, at least not in summer, since the house is completely surrounded by tree tops. Nevertheless we enjoyed the large deck.
