I would not have more than four people, anymore than that would be to much. Water in cottage was very rusty ,but we enjoyed our week.

We Loved The Cottage And Long Lake

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I came up to The Rustic Cabin in early June, 2015 to check out the cabin and its layout, plus the lake. I am a panfisherman and have been looking for a special lake to conduct my fishing habit. I liked what I saw and booked the cabin for a week in latter August. My wife drove her car and I brought my van and boat. She is not interested in fishing, so after two nights, she went back home. Then the fun started. As she was leaving, my one son pulled in. He was ready to fish hard for just one day and get back home to his contracting business. The fishing went very well. We fried some up before he left. He no more than got on the road when my two other sons rolled in for the rest of the week. The cabin fitted us very well. My one boy tried out some special cooking skills that I didn't teach him. His cooking impressed me! I want to let future renters know how helpful Lori was in addressing some concerns. I called her prior to us coming up about where we could clean fish and get rid of the fish guts. I suggested a cleaning table and a small chest freezer. When we got there in

August, the storage shed was equipped with a cleaning table and a new chest freezer. If you clean up after yourself and freeze the guts till garbage day, there is no smell in that building. Lori must have bought into my idea because she done it the right way. Looking forward to staying there again!

Family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a relaxing family vacation here. The pictures and description are very accurate. Our adult kids slept on the futons and commented on how comfortable they are. The kayaks and paddle pontoon got quite a bit of use as did the firepit. The large yard is great for a variety of games. We've rented other cottages and it was so nice not having to pack bedding and towels. Everything was so clean and well-cared for.

The only suggestion we would make is to add a couple outdoor lounge chairs. It was nice though to have 6 adirondack chairs for the fire pit area and then the 4 additional chairs on the deck.

We will definitely consider a return visit.

Simply Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this lovely property while attending our daughter's college graduation. It was perfect in every way. We had enough space inside and all the amenities for our entertaining needs. We had perfect weather for an outdoor Mother's Day picnic. The owner provided canoes, kayaks, a row boat and paddle boat as well as outdoor lawn games. This provided entertainment for all our guest, from the kids to grown-ups. We would rent this sweet little cabin again and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a special lakeside vacation. Also, we cannot say enough about the manager, Lori, who goes above and beyond to make your stay as delightful and appealing as possible.

About Lori Gripman/ Property Manager

We have lived on Long Lake for over 25 years and have first hand experience of the beauty of this lake. It is a quaint area and all though there are many attractions surrounding the lake, everything you could possibly want or need is right out the front door. . It is located on a private drive and is in a great area that takes you back in time where you can safely walk and bike and know all of your neighbors on a first name basis. Our children have made many life long friends that they met growing up that were return renters summer after summer.

What makes this cottage unique

Many lakefront properties have very small yards but this cabin sits on a 100ft by 300 ft. lot. It is in an area on the lake that is considered 'The gold coast of Long Lake'. It has a great beach front and lots of room to 'play or set up tents in the yard.

Rustic Cabin sitting on great all sports lake. Long Lake is in Reading Township, and is a chain of three lakes. It connects to Hemlock and Carpenter Lake. Long Lake is a 203 acre lake that is two miles long. It is a great fishing lake as well as a great lake for boating, water-sports, canoeing, jet-skiing, and sailing. The lake has a no-wake curfew from 7pm until 7am that allows the fisherman a tranquil, quiet time to take full advantage of the fishing. The cabin is available for weekly rental during the summer months. From Memorial Weekend until Labor Day Weekend, the cabin is a great place to enjoy everything being on the lake has to offer. Located near Allen, Michigan (antique capital of the world), local attractions such as golfing, wine tours, antiquing, restaurants, and outlet mall offer travelers many options.
