Great location! We’re a family of 4 w/2 young children. This was our 3rd visit to Sanibel, 1st time at Kimball Lodge, & our best stay yet. We were skeptical of Royal Shell and this unit since it had no reviews, but our experience was pretty great. Royal Shell is located on the island and they are quick and responsive.
** Location - steps away from the pool and the beach. Outdoor rinse off area right by building entrance.
** Can’t beat the price
** Large shower space with a height adjustable or hand-held shower. This proved to be the best feature to do a quick rinse off of my girls after a day at the beach.
** Glass doors on entire gulf view side. Great curtains give full privacy when you want it. When open, you have a side view of the gulf and pool area.
** Outdoor community deck view of the ocean was fantastic. There's plenty of seating and rarely crowded.
** Sanibel is super family friendly and this location was no exception.
** Loved having access to a kitchen, refrigerator, and dining table.
** Elevator is right by the unit.
** The pool was clean. Island Inn had a pool company out every morning making sure it was clean.
** Very quiet area.
Parking: This could be a pro or con. The unit has one available reserved space for the unit located by the tennis courts, Island Inn’s second entrance.
** No private outdoor lanai area to sit in. However, the glass doors give a comfortable open side view of the ocean.
** The signal for cel phones and WiFi is terrible.
** Little maintenance issues caused a small annoyance, but didn't bother us enough to report it. Example: The refrigerator didn't hold a good temperature. Our ice cream was always soft and our drinks would freeze.
** Cleanliness was a three. The unit has a vacuum cleaner and hand held sweeper. Most rooms are carpet.
** Space is average on kid friendliness. Beware of porcelain and glass only dishes, shelf of glass collectibles, and glass top tables.
** No fault of the unit or hotel, but just wanted to mention, beware of no-see-ums! If you walk outside without bug spray or Avon Skin So Soft, you will be covered in bug bites that itch for a week!
** The kids’ bath didn’t work out for us which was a reason I chose this unit. Once we realized the plug didn’t work and the water drained out, I moved them to our shower and it turned out to be better than putting them in the bath.
