It is an amazing house, built with local stones, following the local architecture tradition. It has a breath taking view to the sea, where you can see four (4) Aegean islands and it is placed at a hill with a beautiful mountain behind the house.
The house has only one floor (ground floor). It has 190 sq.meters area, where there is a living room, a dinning room, a kitchen, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 small storerooms and a 20 sq.meter area (basement).
All bedrooms have double beds. The master bedroom is 30 sq.meters, and includes a library, an office, a walk-in dressing room and a WC.
The great advantage of the house is that you can live outdoors almost 365 days per year! Especially during summer, the front and rear veranda is your 'living room'. The silence, the smell and the view can be very inspiring for writers or very relaxing for hard working stressful people.
The owner of the house is an Architect, and he built the house with special care, choosing the best materials and workers. The Architect, believes that floors and walls are forming the physiognomy of this construction, so selected special materials and used unique methods.
The beach is 500 meters from the house and a lot of taverns (meat or fish) are on that beach (Kini). In Kini village you can find mini-markets, kiosk etc. and a lot of organized beach activities.
In front of the house there is a walking path that leads -through the mountain- to a Monastery (20 min. walking) or to the beautiful village of Episkopio (40 min) and even to Hermoupolis (the capital of Syros), were you can see the amazing houses of 19th century.
Just come once, and you will never want to leave!
THE HOUSE IS REGISTERED IN NATIONAL TOURIST ORGANISATION OF GREECE (MHTE/1177K92001177401)
We came to Syros Island with my wife on 2001. We moved here searching for a better place to live and grow up kids.
We currently live in this house, but we also rent it for small periods.
Pavlos Chatzigrigoriou purchased this villa in 2010
We are both engineers and we designed and built this house in order to be cozy, functional and unique. We love the spot, the mountain behind the house, the sea in front and of course the amazing view.
We live here all year, we still work in Syros and try to make our home more comfortable and sustainable.
We are using solar energy to heat water all day. We recycle garbage, we use composter and we recycle all the waste water of the house in order to water the garden. During winter we also collect rain water.
So, this is a unique, sustainable house built in respect to local architecture and tradition
Location, location, location!
You can be isolated and at the same time near a small fishing village with very good taverns and fresh fish.
The view to the sea will make you daydream, relax and enjoy your vacations.
The veranda is a great factor to choose this house. You can live outdoors all day, you can even sleep in the hammock during night.
This house is ideal for writers and people with stressful lifes who need relaxed vacations with plenty of choices.
5 stars in this review is not enough for this amazing house ....we rate it 10 stars! The breathtaking view, the "simplicity" of the house, the people around, the honey, the smell of thyme and oregano around the house, the cats which my kids totally fell in love with....everything was perfect...still my favorite was the hammock which made our stay zen and flew with our dreams. Go for it :-)
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pavlos's beautiful home. The description of the property was completely accurate and more. I particularly loved the stone aspect of the house, as well as the tasteful decor of the whole place. The view of the Aegean Sea from both the front porch and the side porch was unreal. Pavlos was a wonderful host, beginning with the delicious basket of goodies he gave us upon arrival, to leaving us fresh eggs from his chickens on some morning(delicious), to sharing information about the island, places to go, etc. The house is well located, being 5 minutes by car to the nearby beaches, and 10-15 minutes or less to town. Our trip to Syros was primarily to attend the Syros Film Festival, but we also had the opportunity to experience this beautifully historic Greek island.
Truly amazing. One of us has been traveling to Greece for over 40 years and has not had such a wonderful experience since the seventies. The accommodations are traditional, filled with the warm tones of stones against whitewashed walls. Yet the house has all of the modern conveniences of our time. The views from the house are spectacular and calming.
The listing description was fully accurate as to location, layout, and amenities.
Each morning we enjoyed fresh eggs and honey from the bee hives. Visiting Syros is like going back in time when the hospitality of Greece was legend. Our hosts became quick friends with whom we spent many a night sharing wine, great food, and great conversation.
We highly recommend visits to the little fishing village of Kini, especially during a festival. Although it is an easy walk down to the village, a car is helpful to get back up to the house. A car is also necessary for visiting Ermoupoli & Ano Syros on the other side of the island. If possible, take in some traditional music at one of the small tavernas in Ano Syros!
The Italian style architecture painted in pastel hues on the Ano Syros side of the island contrasts perfectly with the traditional whitewashed cyclades motif on the farm house side of the island.
The house and island are beautiful, but the very best part of our stay was meeting Pavlos and his lovely family! They did everything possible to help us have a wonderful time! Our stay was excellent in every way and we can't wait to return.
Well, everything is in the title.
It's been a long time since we and my family are renting houses in Cyclades islands.
And for sure, this house was the most beautiful we have ever rent.
Its situation is perfect with a great view both on sea and "moutains".
Syros is a beautiful island and Kini is a nice place to stay.
The house is at 5 minutes (less I guess) by car from the beach (you can see it on the pictures)
There are two terraces with everything to eat and relax (chairs, tables) and the hardest part is to decide which one you prefer to have breakfast or dinner! (in case of strong wind one of the terrace is completely protected from the wind )
The house is really beautiful (you can see it has been handled by a good architect);
Let's go inside: as beautiful as the outside!
There is space, bedrooms are great, kitchen and living-room also!
Even the bathrooms with the beautiful aspect of the stones.
It is clean and decorated with charm!
More than that this house has a soul, and you can feel it.
It's like the house was welcoming you.
From a practical point of view, it's also great as it is well furnished with eveything you need for cooking or whatever.
And if you really miss something here is the last (best?) part of the story.
Pavlos and his family is here (just few minutes away) to welcome you and help you if you need anything.
Please enjoy this farm as we did: go with children pick-up the eggs in the henhous ("poulailler" in french) and taste the homemade honey (so good)!
Try also the outisde (but "private") shower when returning fom the beach (there are also showers inside in the bathrooms of course!)
Do not forget to watch the sunset every day while drinking a glass of ouzo, red wine or just orange juice
Take the time to take time, to enjoy the place, to enjoy the slow and relaxing pace of the Cyclades.
This house is the best place to do it!
And Pavlos a great guest (sorry to have taken some much time to write my review)
Believe me, the only complicated part is when you have to leave the house at the end of your holidays....
So clearly and witouht any doubt, I would definitively recomment this property!

We loved your house. It is a great house. One week has not been enough to fully appreciate the island. Everything was amazing!!! Hope to come back soon, thanks again.
We really appreciated your house, with a so beautiful decoration and so useful, especially with 3 children. Our children liked your house because of cats, dogs, chicken and terrace with the hammock. They liked also the eggs and your honey.
We would like to thank you very much for our wonderful stay in your home. The house itself is really very beautiful inside and outside. The view is extraordinary, the terrace is charming. But more than that, the house has really a “soul”, we can feel it and we have enjoyed this. Thanks a lot for your warm welcome, your fresh products (eggs, honey and wine!). Hope we come again!
Syros is a beautiful Aegean island, with an incredible habitat. It has a unique geological history and a clear clean blue sea with small and big organized beaches. The city of Hermoupolis is the capital city of Cyclades. It is one of the most interesting cities for its architecture style. Most of the houses are more then 150 years old, and all of them are well preserved.
It is an ideal destination for different long weekends during winter, Christmas holiday, Eastern get away and of course for summer vacations. Syros is a special destination for educational trips and an attractive destination for summer relaxation and daydreaming.
There are 5 international festivals during summer (Guitar festival, Opera and Theater Festival, Classical Music Festival, SciFiction Festival, Anima Festival), a lot of exhibitions of well known artists.
The Aegean Festival in Hermoupolis is ranked number one Festival in Aegean (by ministry of culture) and it attracts thousand of visitors.
There are countless choices of entertainment in Syros. You can start with a relaxing coffee or ouzo, shopping and wandering around in the narrow lanes of Hermoupolis, discovering the natural environment, exploring the old town of Upper Syros, mountain walking on organized paths, sports activities, beach activities and at the end amazing seafood on tavernas on the beach. If you want to gamble there is also the Aegean Casino in Hermoupolis. A lot of bars in the city or outside, are waiting for you (some of them with live music) and you can return home after watching the incredible sunrise!
