Large 3 Bedroom 3 Bath Home in beautiful Coral Ridge

Thanks for looking at my listing! My house is located in Coral Ridge, one of the best neighborhoods in Fort Lauderdale. It is in a perfect location - far enough away from main thoroughfares to be quiet, but within walking or biking distance of the beach, malls, and many restaurants.

If you rent the house, you'll enter the living room first - and in front of you will be a wall of glass doors, through which you'll see the pool, waterfall, and spa. It's pretty awesome both during the day and especially at night, and it's why I bought the house. On nice days the doors can be slid to the side, creating an expansive opening.

The living room is equipped with a 60' LCD LED TV with 3D capability, Blu-ray player, and surround sound. And you'll be sure to find your favorite shows with high definition cable with 320 channels.

The French Country kitchen is fully equipped with everything you'd need to prepare meals. The appliances are stainless steel, and include a wine cooler and dishwasher.

There are three very spacious bedrooms, all of which are easily large enough for king-sized beds. All bedrooms are equipped with 40 inch LED LCD TVs, with Blu-ray players and upgraded high definition cable. King beds are present in the master suite and the 'green room', and two twins (which may be exchanged with a king upon request) are found in the 'grey room'.

The dining room overlooks the patio/garden area, with a table that normally seats 6. Table can be expanded to seat 8 guests.

The patio, the pool, and the hot tub are new. The patio is travertine marble, with a dining area, a sitting area, and 4 lounge chairs. Gas grille is located on the patio. The back is completely surrounded by tropical plants and is entirely private. The pool and hot tub are heated and controlled by remote control.

- New washer and dryer

- 4 bicycles (3 adult, 1 child-sized) with helmets and locks

- Audio can be wirelessly streamed from Apple devices or iTunes to the living room and to the patio. Devices can also be connected with standard headphone jacks.

- iPhone docks with speakers in all bedrooms, kitchen, and dining room. For those with other devices, a standard headphone jack can also be used.

- Completely equipped kitchen

- High chair and port-a-crib (on request)

I live in Ohio and am a born-and-bred Buckeye. Well, technically more a Bearcat since the University of Cincinnati was where I went to school. I've lived here in the Midwest most of my life. I enjoy the change of seasons (especially the fall), but I also learned that escaping south a couple of times during the winter does wonders for the mood. So for years I saved and saved, and I was lucky enough in 2012 to find the place down in Fort Lauderdale! It was a much bigger project than I ever imagined it would be, but I had so much fun putting the house together...I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Why Donald Imwalle chose Downtown

As a young man in Ohio, I worked at a nursery with a green house. Hard work but I loved it. I eventually asked the owner to let me have my own little corner where I could grow my own tropical plants. He looked at me a little odd, but I guess he liked me because gave me the green light. I think even then I knew I wanted a house in Florida, where all those exotic plants could thrive outside.

Many, many years later, and with a lot of work and a LOT of saving, I was lucky enough to make that dream come true.

After having traveled many times to Florida, I eventually figured out that Fort Lauderdale best fit what I wanted. Although the beach is central to any coastal Florida city, Fort Lauderdale takes it a step further by offering hundreds of additional activities.

I wanted a place in one of the nicer areas of Fort Lauderdale. Although there are plenty of nice neighborhoods, Coral Ridge really stands out. The residents take great pride in maintaining their homes. The neighborhood is also mature - plenty of beautiful trees and tropical plants.

What makes this house unique

I looked at an insane number of houses while searching for a house in Fort Lauderdale. While I liked a lot of them, as soon as I walked into this one I knew it was the one I wanted. Why? I wanted a house where the outside would be the focal point...after all, Florida weather practically invites you to enjoy it all year long. One look at the bank of windows in the living room and the reason I fell in love should be clear.

I also wanted a 'split' floorplan - a house where the master suite was separate from the other bedrooms. This house definitely fits the bill, with a master suite that is entirely private.

Most of all, I wanted to the feel of a tropical paradise in my backyard - a place that was private, tranquil; a place to relax and unwind. The house had a nice backyard when I purchased it, but it wasn't quite there.

First I wanted a hot tub, because in my mind there is nothing more relaxing than a bike ride along the beach or a good exercise session followed by a dip in the hot tub. So one of the first orders of business was to have a spa installed with a waterfall to create a soothing background.

Next I had a new marble patio installed, being sure the design allowed maximum utility (i.e., dining and sitting areas, plenty of rooms for chaise lounges), but still a patio that allowed sufficient room to install a variety of tropical plants.

And finally - my favorite part - was to install a wall of tropical plants. I probably went a little overboard at the nursery, but for a guy who likes tropical plants, the place was a little like heaven. So after planting hundreds of plants, the place is just how I wanted: an escape from the everyday, just a step outside the back doors.

Honestly, I'm pretty proud of the place...I think you'll find it really is something extraordinary.

Fort Lauderdale is obviously known for its beach, and in that respect it doesn't disappoint. The beach runs several miles in length, and is lined by a palm tree-lined walk the whole way. It's a great place to walk, bike, or blade. And if you want to relax, just throw down the towel and listen to the ocean.

Just across from the beach are numerous night clubs and restaurants...and places just to sit and people watch. Just as much fun is the night life in Fort Lauderdale. Cafes and bars can be found Downtown, in the Los Olas district, along the beach, and in Wilton Manors.

Not far from Fort Lauderdale is the Everglades National Park. If you or your family has never had a ride on an airboat, it's definitely something to try out. It's a great place to meet the alligators (safely!), see exotic birds, and fish.

If you're like me and really like eating, Fort Lauderdale is a great destination. There are literally thousands of restaurants in the area, from upscale eateries that overlook the intracoastal waterway to small cafes along the beach.

There are so many things to do, it's almost impossible to list them all. But take a look at sunny.org - the website gives a great overview of all that Fort Lauderdale offers.

Excellent Accommodation

My wife and I along with two other couples recently stayed at the property for 9 nights. The house is exactly as pictured, attractive and comfortable. The space was well equipped with absolutely everything we needed. The owners, Mary Ellen and Donald, were very accommodating and always available when we had questions. The location is convenient to airport, shopping, A1A and beaches. We normally stay at 4 Star hotels when we travel, however, this home more than satisfied the needs of our group of six. Amazing property all around. All the amenities, the pool and spa was spectacular.

This property is everything that you're looking for to accomodate your stay in Ft. Lauderdale. Everything from the lush vegetation to the bed linens were properly thought out. House is very well maintained and much more classy than we had anticipated. The pictures of the property do not do the place justice! Close to shopping, a bike ride to the beach, the nightlife, a Publix and Target are within walking distance. Book this property! We're already looking at dates to book again.
