We have a duplex with two side-by-side units with two bedrooms each. Little to no sound passes between the units.
Do you like to walk on the beach? We have the best location for it in North America (maybe the world)! A 3 minute walk from the door and you can walk for miles, across a gorgeous salt marsh that connects to an almost empty wild beach of Cape Cod National Seashore, where seals peek at you as the waves crash at your feet as you walk by.
If you have kids, they'll love chasing the fiddler crabs in the salt marsh, digging for clams (need a license to keep 'em), finding horseshoe or hermit crabs, or swimming in the warm water bay adjoining the marsh.
If you want to walk to Chatham's picturesque downtown, that works too, about 20 minutes along mostly back-streets.
In addition to the empty beach across the salt marsh, we are also a 5 minute walk from popular Lighthouse Beach. Walk or ride your bike where you need to go and leave the car in the driveway!
Please note that our rental week runs Friday to Friday from mid June through early September.
I first moved to Chatham in 1967, and have loved it ever since. Our property is about a quarter mile from the house I spent my barefooot summers in as a child.
Walter Branson purchased this house in 2012
My wife and I bought our duplex because of its fabulous location adjacent to a gorgeous Cape Cod National Seashore beach, with a beautiful salt marsh and uncrowded bay beach even closer. We also like the serene backstreets walk to downtown.
My husband and I had a fabulous vacation at this Chatham cottage. It was clean, very spacious, has everything you need, it's in a great location, close to Main St. and beaches, but still in a quiet, quaint neighborhood. Walter, the owner was great to work with. Everything was just perfect!! We loved going to Oyster Pond, nice small quiet beach. We enjoyed the "Impudent Oyster", great food and drink. And Larry's PX has the best breakfast EVER!! We would absolutely recommend this location to anyone who loves Cape Cod.
Loved our stay here at cape cod. The location was excellent especially if you have little children. The bayside is a short walk away with calm waters, incredible amounts of wild/sea life and quiet quiet quiet making it ever so relaxing. Have been there twice this year and will definitely be back again.
We have been visiting the Cape for many summers. We love the town of Chatham. We also love the area of Morris Island.
The house was clean and a good size for our family. We have 3 kids ages 9, 7, and 5. The children loved the loft area. The outdoor shower was a treat. Having a washer and dryer was also a huge plus for our family.
The walk to Lighthouse Beach was about 5 to 10mins with little ones. The walk to the private beach was about the same. We enjoyed exploring for crabs and seals.
I would recommend this home. It is close to all the best parts of Chatham.
The owner was friendly and responsive during our stay. Amazing location just steps away from the marshes and lighthouse beach. Our kids were captivated by the seals, sea birds, crabs, and the beach. Incredible location!
This was our families first vacation on The Cape and Walter and The Bluefin offered a great home away from home. Walter is a very friendly and gracious host. The home was perfect for our family (3 girls age 13, 11, & 6 yrs) The Bluefin's loft was quickly adopted by the children while my wife and i enjoyed having our own separate master room. Kitchen had everything we needed. No issues with the WiFi. Washer & Drier was certainly appreciated too.
While we typically drove to downtown Chatham, I could see that walking from the property would be pleasant. The walk to the beach was a lot of fun. There is a path that leads through the marsh and over the dunes to the southern end of Lighthouse Beach. Our girls spent hours chasing crabs, watching seals...we even found a sea star.
We certainly fell in love with Chatham. Great location to explore the entire Cape. About an hour to P-town. About 45 mins (i think) taking back roads to Hyannis. But it was the quaintness of Chatham that has put this location on top of our list for next year's vacation.
Would we recommend this property? Yes. Will we return to this property? Yes! Unfortunately...not soon enough!
We lucked out with perfect weather in mid-May, so we were out and about more than we were at the house - however, when we were there (with toddlers in tow), it was comfortable, spacious, washer/dryer, plenty of kitchen supplies, comfy beds, and a lovely (though longer) walk to the beach and/or town. Each neighbour we met, too, was very kind in welcoming us to the quaint little section of Chatham. We'd absolutely stay here again!
