Perched on a small cliff on the Atlantic side of Vieques, Casa di Maré offers spectacular views of the north coast of Vieques, the main island of Puerto Rico, towards El Yunque National Forest and on a clear day, the neighboring island of Culebra!
Located in the very desirable Bravos de Boston Neighborhood, this Vacation Villa is within walking distance of the Ferry Station and the main town of Isabel Segunda, with its Restaurants, Shops and Cultural and Historical Landmarks.
Casa di Mare is designed for the tropical Caribbean lifestyle. Lounge in the villa’s extended covered patio and watch the Fishermen on their boats go by as you enjoy your favorite cocktail or beverage. A set of steps on the property will place you at a private beach in front of the house.
Fall asleep to the subtle sounds of the Atlantic Ocean crashing at your feet while the cooling Caribbean trade winds blow by.
The owner Philip was born and raised in NYC. His father was a passionate fisherman. He was part of the beach buggy assoation in 1953 and loved Montauk. He took his mother, brother and him out of NYC every summer since the day he was born. He learned how to fish, dive and surf every summer till he was 18. Then he moved to Montauk to do all the fishing and surfing he could, he lived that dream for 12 more years...
Then one day In 99 I tripped over vieques island that was truly not on the map. My admeration for beauty and pure bliss sucked me right into vieques and viequensse living, I never looked back. Viva Vieques
Philip purchased this villa in 2001
This is one of the prime spots for surf, has the best accessible views and has the space, privacy and proximity to amenities that you desire. It has a way of keeping the piece of you that wants to stay. If you stay here in his home, it will change you.
The shore is accessible by a private staircase on the edge of the property. And the property is also just steps from an additional public, but very quiet beach in the cove. There is also an outdoor shower and a huge patio with a grill and a wide open view of the beautiful Atlantic Ocean, Puerto Rico and surrounding islands.
Happy New Year!
We have returned from a wonderful week at Casa di Mare and in Vieques. We
really loved it! Your home was perfect for us and we loved all we saw, did,
and ate! on Vieques.
Casa di Mare was awesome. Perched on a cliff overlooking the north shore of the island, the view is beautiful from the patio, the lanai and the overlook. We had four couples and the layout of the house is perfect for a group as each bedroom opened up separately, everyone could come and go without disturbing anyone else. Kitchen is very well equipped, hard to beat a meal with a great view! Ample space, public beach just steps away. House was very clean, AC's worked great, laundry got a workout, no issues. Loved the outdoor shower, probably our group's favorite amenity. Walk into 'town' is good exercise, especially the hike back which is primarily uphill. Local supermercado surprisingly well stocked, including liquor and decent selection of wine. We did not rent vehicle, but made friends with local taxi driver to explore various parts of the island. HIGHLY recommend.
Casa di mare was incredible! The ocean views were stunning from sunrise in the morning to spectacular colors of sunset in the evening, the turquoise colors of the water were beyond soothing to the soul! My 3 friends and myself enjoyed our last week on Vieques to the fullest at Casa di mare--we enjoyed preparing meals in the kitchen and dined on the outside lanai every night. The pier is very close and we stopped by to get some locally caught snapper and lobster which was so delicious. The bedrooms were very comfortable and everyone appreciated the spacious layout--especially the outdoor space as that was our main interest to gaze at and enjoy the ocean. I loved the outdoor shower and never even used the inside shower--who wouldn't want to stare at the ocean while showering!?! We did many outings to local beaches and snorkeled as well as went sailing with Capt. Judy of Sea Vieques (she is awesome!)--every day was full and it was so wonderful to come "home" to our captivating views and relaxing vibes of Casa di mare! April the manager was very helpful--from the beginning when I had questions before our arrival as we planned our trip she was happy to offer us ideas of where to eat and what to do as well as when we arrived she was kindly accommodating--the line for the wifi was damaged right before our arrival and April worked very hard to get it promptly fixed and was very communicative as well as friendly and upbeat. I have nothing bad to say about this piece of paradise--but I will add what I found helpful as far as dealing with mosquitos--which frankly is part of island life and is not a criticism in any way of this beautiful home--we covered up our drains every night in the sinks and showers to help not attract them to standing water, seemed to really help. I do not use toxic chemicals and brought my own plant based bug sprays which worked well in addition to keeping my fan on at night which I enjoyed anyway. We had one friend that the mosquitos really loved (they can pick favorites for sure) and her one piece of feedback was that she wished she had a mosquito net over her bed. Again I just share this to help others--but in no way would it ever hinder me from returning to Casa di mare, this home and its location/view was truly the highlight of our 3 weeks on Vieques! I absolutely loved staying here! Thank you Phillip and April and many blessings on all whom have the chance to stay at this piece of tranquil paradise!
Good location and a BIG place- we only had 3 people but you could take a big crew with you. The house was clean and exceeded our expectations. We liked the large family area and sit there in the morning and evening and watched the waves roll in. As stated it was a good location and the Island is beautiful. We had no problem with electricity and the AC's and fans worked great. Vieques is unspoiled and "old school" as far as charm and not over developed- and the people could not have been nicer- I mean they could tell if you were confused (which happens often to me) and they would volunteer help or information- really felt safe and welcomed. Went to several of the beaches- a couple just right up the road- and of course to the bio bay- now that is a sight you do not see often! Would recommend Vieques and Casa di Mare if you want a get away for relaxing, no stress time away. Our only problem or mistake was only staying 3 days- but we have more family that didn't go, so I'm sure we will be back soon. Also visit the El Yata restaurant just down the road at the Ferry Landing- Juan will take care of you and they pour heavy on the rum!
Wow! It's been months since my stay here, but when I close my eyes and think of my happy place, I am back! This is my idea of staying in paradise. Wonderfully comfortable and delightfully accomadating. Spacious enough to enjoy being with friends while also being able to enjoy the many special areas of the property for privacy and alone time too; a perfect combination of excitement and relaxation. The architecture and surrounding island flora provide the perfect private island retreat with fantastic views of the Caribbean Ocean, with its romantic sunrises and sunsets. There is an accessible beach below the property for sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, surfing, fishing, etc. Safe and easy access to magnificent underwater views of the coral reef's diverse aquatic life is one of the many highlights of this little piece of heaven. I simply cannot recommend it enough!
I Philip DiMaria the owner of this awesome ocean front property recently stayed as a guest with my girlfriend on my birthday weekend. I booked a flight and we were on or way to Vieques. When we arrived at the airport Danny was there to pick us up and took us for frozen drinks in Esperanza. My girlfriend was delighted to see the sailboats in the bay and was quickly falling in love with Vieques. When we got to the house we were greeted by Margret who had my home picture perfect and up to my standards. Girlfriend approved! I took her places only a local would know about and she was so amazed. She won't stop talking about the beaches, snorkeling and of course the bio bay. It was so nice to share it with her, and show her around this wonderful island. I have been around the world with my girl and she says what I've always known. There is no place like my home! Thank you Margret and Danny for your wondeful hospitality.
Seriously, this was better than my 4 friends and I could have hoped for. The sound of the ocean, the new steps down to the beach, the covered veranda, the landscaping, the view...Oh my god! We were in heaven. Completely stocked kitchen in terms of pots, pans, dishes, utensils, cookware, etc. Everything was in really nice condition as well and had obviously been scrubbed prior to our arrival. And all new crisp white sheets and fluffy new towels too! My group will be going back again, we are hoping for Christmastime (or maybe a long, long Thanksgiving weekend). We were told that the owner had just made several upgrades which we really appreciated to. And the house is big enough for everyone to have some "alone time" to soak in the dreamy environment!

I would like to say first off that there is NO smoking in the bedrooms! smoking is permitted any where else. If you choose to smoke in the bedrooms you will be charged a $500 cleaning fee. If you have a problem with the plumbing there is a shut off valve in the SE corner of the property by the street. If a circuit breaker trips and the Electric goes out there is a panel box located in the kitchen behind a picture of a airplane crash. My septic can not Handel any baby wipes, paper towels, feminine wipes or excess tissues. If you have any problems past your own capabilities Danny is available to assist you at all times. Don't be afraid to call any time. When you use the Kayak please remember to tie it up to the almond tree and don't leave the paddles on the beach.
WARNING. Do not take the Kayak out when the ocean swells are up!
ALSO. Have a great time!!
Bravos de Boston is a stretch of beach on the North side of Vieques, overlooking the Atlantic and Caribbean seas. The villa boasts breathtaking views of the ocean, with the beach access on the property, snorkeling, surfing and sunbathing right at your feet.
