Settled on a small hill, just off the old town Basseterre with fabulous views on the harbor and the caribbean sea, just a 3 min. walk away from the town beach and vegetable and fish market, lies the privately owned property Palms Court Gardens, surrounded by one acre lush, tropical gardens and a luxury infinity pool.
The property consists of the main house, housing the rooms of the owners, the kitchen for the restaurant (Open Mo - Thu: 9am - 5pm, Fri - Sun: 9am - 10pm) and the Shell Works gift boutique, and an all wood cottage. The rental apartment is on the second floor of the cottage, offering the best view on the island of the historic town Basseterre, the harbor and the ocean with the neighboring island Nevis in the background.
Being on the top floor of the building, the apartment's ambiance profits from the open vaulted caribbean style wood ceiling with its visible beams. The decor is held in a luxurious, mediterranean 'shabby chic' style. A fully equipped kitchen with enclosed dining/living space, a spacious bathroom with walk in shower and separate toilet, a library, free Wi-Fi, a large air conditioned bedroom with one queen size and one single bed (enough space to put another bed for a family with 2 children) and a large flat screen TV, Bose radio/CD palyer, offers everything you look for in your home away from home.
Palms Court Gardens is privately owned. Until 2003 it belonged to the Royal Bank of Canada who had for many years their managers staying here. In 2003 it was sold to a local business man and his wife - an arts and crafts teacher from Switzerland. The property and gardens then were completely transformed into a mediterranean/ caribbean dream and opened to the public the first time in 2010. Although on a day with cruise ships in port, an average of 10 - 30 visitors are touring the garden and 10 - 15 day visitors are spending some time at the pool (9am - 5pm), the guests at the cottage still enjoy their full privacy, as the apartment is located on the second floor and out of the eye of the garden visitor.
The cottage was initially built for the family's own purposes; a design studio on the ground level and a one bedroom apartment on the second floor for their private guests. It is now offered for the first time for rent.
After the family purchased the property in 2003, a 7 year period followed of extensive restorations, re-landscaping, and adding a luxury infinity pool and the guest cottage. The family finally decided to share the beauty of the gardens and the stunning ocean, town and mountain views with the public. Carrying idea was to support the Children Educational Fund St.Kitts with the generated income. A special attraction at Palms Court Gardens is Shell Works
St.Kitts, with its production site and gift shop located between the guest cottage and main house. Jewelry, gift items and home accessories, all made from natural and local materials, are produced right on location and invite the visitor to watch and talk to the artisans.
Designed and restored for the private use, each inch throughout the garden, main house, patio and guest cottage is done with extraordinary style and class, and offering all the amenities your looking for your private home away from home.

My wife, our oldest daughter and myself spent a before Christmas holiday from Dec. 17-24, 2016 at the Palms Court Gardens. We were very pleased with this property and found it to be everything it was described to be. The scenic location overlooking the harbor with an easy 10 minute walk to town make Palms Court Garden an ideal place to stay. (I recommend a rental car for the extended trips to beaches and other historical/scenic side trips. Although I didn't use them I recommend Bulls Eye car rental.)
The owner, Ernest, was a perfect host and it is not possible to extend too many compliments to his staff. They were polite and ever helpful. Ernest and his staff reminded us several times that this was our "home away from home" and we took them at their word and lived accordingly. Whatever we needed to be comfortable and satisfied while there was happily made available. We ate two breakfasts and two evening dinners at the Palms Court restaurant and were pleased with both the service and food. The Palms Court was hosting rather large receptions two evenings during our stay and the restaurant staff generously brought and served us dinner in our room, complete with table flowers!
A word of caution, the Palms Court Gardens is the site of frequent receptions because of the properties beautiful gardens and ambience. The music can be a bit loud, but is generally over by ten o'clock or so. One exception was a large company party that was scheduled to run quite late. The owner Ernest arranged for us to stay that night just down the street at the Ocean Terrace Inn hotel should we wish to avoid the later than usual music.
There are two fine restaurants within a half block of the Palms Court property. One is The Veranda located at the Ocean Terrace Inn. The second, and easily our favorite, is Serendipity -- a bit pricey but the best dinner we had in St. Kitts.
I recommend this property to anyone looking for a beautiful, laid-back, relaxing place to stay while visiting the island. You can find more traditional resort like accommodations on St. Kitts, if that is what you're looking for. But you won't find better!
There are many wonderful positives to staying in the cottage at Palms Court Gardens, the views, the fantastic staff, the restaurant, and the cottage itself. We marveled every day at the view from our private deck and enjoyed the use of the facilities, especially the pool. We ate at other restaurants, but found none to compare with the occasional lunch we enjoyed right here. The people who work in the restaurant and pool area were very friendly went out of their way to make us feel special. If you choose to stay here, be aware that there are public functions on occasion. On our first day, there was a birthday party in the afternoon with twenty or thirty noisy children. We did not mind this at all and they were gone by 5 pm. We had the pool area to ourselves in the evening after closing at 5, except on two evenings. One when there was a party for medical students with very loud music from 6 pm to midnight. We were informed ahead of time so we could make other plans for the evening and the music volume did decrease around 11. The last night we were there, a crew came in to power wash the pool until about 7 or so. Do stay here, but be aware there are public events once in awhile or other minor inconveniences. We would stay here again without hesitation.
This is one of those rare places that completely exceed all expectations, my girlfriend and I couldn't have been happier. There is only one unit so you feel like you have an entire resort to yourself and the place is beautiful. But by far, the best thing about Palm Court Gardens is the amazing staff...Joy, "Slice", Shantell and Alencia were all very engaging, friendly, funny and always there to help with questions about areas to visit in St. Kitts/Nevis. Pictures don't do it justice and the location is great, walking distance to town. I would recommend renting a car if you're interested in seeing the island (Bullseye Rental.) We went to the Marriott and I can tell you, Palm Court Gardens is where you want to stay. We ran into Ernest (the owner) twice at different restaurants and he couldn't have treated us better, showing us around town and treating us like Royalty. It is by far the best place to stay on the Island.
Couldn't have been more inpressed with Palms Court Gardens. The guest house was very confortable and suited our needs well. The staff was attentive and very friendly. Ernest made sure everything was in order and that we were being taken care of (abd we always were). Property description was spot-on.
Me and my husband we stayed here for three weeks! The place it's absolutely amazing, and the view is to die for... Everything looks exactly like in the pictures! You have there anything you need in a house, and the fact that you have all the place for you after 5 pm, makes it feel like home :) The staff working there are extremely friendly and helpful with everything you will need during your stay! The restaurant is very nice, and the food served here is delicious! Mr Amory is always there to make sure you will absolutely enjoy your stay!
The place is only 10 min walking down the pier from the Basseterre town centre, where you find all the stores and even a market for all kinds of groceries!
If you wanna see the island or go to the beach I suggest you a Rent a car service ( Bullseye - one of the cheapest and still the best ), and just keep the main road, there are plenty of things to see ( long list) :)
If you like walking, the Frigate Bay beach, one of the most famous one on the island it's only 45 min away from here!
We strongly recommend this place for your stay! It something so special, you will not find anything like this around the island!
We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Palms Court Gardens in April. The location has a gorgeous view of the harbour at Basseterre and it is a short walk to local restaurants, grocery stores, outdoor markets and the historic section of the city. The cottage is warm and inviting with a fantastic view. The flowers and palms and the pool are so well cared for and maintained. Just beautiful. The best part of our stay were the people who work at Palms Court Gardens. They were helpful, kind and wanted to ensure we were happy and comfortable. We look forward to booking a return trip!

Palms Court Gardens is located just a 2 min. walkaway from 4 fabulous restaurants, all located on the same street. Asian Gardens offers Taiwanesan cuisine, Waterfalls at Ocean Terrace Inn Hotel a great international and local cuisine, Serendipity just next to it a fabulous international nouvelle cuisine, and 2 min. further down the road lies Fisher Man's Wharf, offering local cuisine directly on the waterfront.
