Description

Brumaire Cottage Rental Photos and Description

1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, sleep 2-4

Settled on a small hill, just off the old town Basseterre with fabulous views on the harbor and the caribbean sea, just a 3 min. walk away from the town beach and vegetable and fish market, lies the privately owned property Palms Court Gardens, surrounded by one acre lush, tropical gardens and a luxury infinity pool.

The property consists of the main house, housing the rooms of the owners, the kitchen for the restaurant (Open Mo - Thu: 9am - 5pm, Fri - Sun: 9am - 10pm) and the Shell Works gift boutique, and an all wood cottage. The rental apartment is on the second floor of the cottage, offering the best view on the island of the historic town Basseterre, the harbor and the ocean with the neighboring island Nevis in the background.

Being on the top floor of the building, the apartment's ambiance profits from the open vaulted caribbean style wood ceiling with its visible beams. The decor is held in a luxurious, mediterranean 'shabby chic' style. A fully equipped kitchen with enclosed dining/living space, a spacious bathroom with walk in shower and separate toilet, a library, free Wi-Fi, a large air conditioned bedroom with one queen size and one single bed (enough space to put another bed for a family with 2 children) and a large flat screen TV, Bose radio/CD palyer, offers everything you look for in your home away from home.

Palms Court Gardens is privately owned. Until 2003 it belonged to the Royal Bank of Canada who had for many years their managers staying here. In 2003 it was sold to a local business man and his wife - an arts and crafts teacher from Switzerland. The property and gardens then were completely transformed into a mediterranean/ caribbean dream and opened to the public the first time in 2010. Although on a day with cruise ships in port, an average of 10 - 30 visitors are touring the garden and 10 - 15 day visitors are spending some time at the pool (9am - 5pm), the guests at the cottage still enjoy their full privacy, as the apartment is located on the second floor and out of the eye of the garden visitor.

The cottage was initially built for the family's own purposes; a design studio on the ground level and a one bedroom apartment on the second floor for their private guests. It is now offered for the first time for rent.

After the family purchased the property in 2003, a 7 year period followed of extensive restorations, re-landscaping, and adding a luxury infinity pool and the guest cottage. The family finally decided to share the beauty of the gardens and the stunning ocean, town and mountain views with the public. Carrying idea was to support the Children Educational Fund St.Kitts with the generated income. A special attraction at Palms Court Gardens is Shell Works

St.Kitts, with its production site and gift shop located between the guest cottage and main house. Jewelry, gift items and home accessories, all made from natural and local materials, are produced right on location and invite the visitor to watch and talk to the artisans.

Designed and restored for the private use, each inch throughout the garden, main house, patio and guest cottage is done with extraordinary style and class, and offering all the amenities your looking for your private home away from home.

From the staff to the accommodations to the owner...TOP NOTCH!!

  • 5 of 5

This is one of those rare places that completely exceed all expectations, my girlfriend and I couldn't have been happier. There is only one unit so you feel like you have an entire resort to yourself and the place is beautiful. But by far, the best thing about Palm Court Gardens is the amazing staff...Joy, "Slice", Shantell and Alencia were all very engaging, friendly, funny and always there to help with questions about areas to visit in St. Kitts/Nevis. Pictures don't do it justice and the location is great, walking distance to town. I would recommend renting a car if you're interested in seeing the island (Bullseye Rental.) We went to the Marriott and I can tell you, Palm Court Gardens is where you want to stay. We ran into Ernest (the owner) twice at different restaurants and he couldn't have treated us better, showing us around town and treating us like Royalty. It is by far the best place to stay on the Island.

  • 5 of 5

Couldn't have been more inpressed with Palms Court Gardens. The guest house was very confortable and suited our needs well. The staff was attentive and very friendly. Ernest made sure everything was in order and that we were being taken care of (abd we always were). Property description was spot-on.

The best place to stay on the island!!!

  • 5 of 5

Me and my husband we stayed here for three weeks! The place it's absolutely amazing, and the view is to die for... Everything looks exactly like in the pictures! You have there anything you need in a house, and the fact that you have all the place for you after 5 pm, makes it feel like home :) The staff working there are extremely friendly and helpful with everything you will need during your stay! The restaurant is very nice, and the food served here is delicious! Mr Amory is always there to make sure you will absolutely enjoy your stay!

The place is only 10 min walking down the pier from the Basseterre town centre, where you find all the stores and even a market for all kinds of groceries!

If you wanna see the island or go to the beach I suggest you a Rent a car service ( Bullseye - one of the cheapest and still the best ), and just keep the main road, there are plenty of things to see ( long list) :)

If you like walking, the Frigate Bay beach, one of the most famous one on the island it's only 45 min away from here!

We strongly recommend this place for your stay! It something so special, you will not find anything like this around the island!

Wonderful vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Palms Court Gardens in April. The location has a gorgeous view of the harbour at Basseterre and it is a short walk to local restaurants, grocery stores, outdoor markets and the historic section of the city. The cottage is warm and inviting with a fantastic view. The flowers and palms and the pool are so well cared for and maintained. Just beautiful. The best part of our stay were the people who work at Palms Court Gardens. They were helpful, kind and wanted to ensure we were happy and comfortable. We look forward to booking a return trip!

Outstanding rental

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I rented the cottage for a week, Both the apartment and the grounds are outstanding. This rental is an remarkable value. The cottage is spacious, well appointed and has a distinct wood beamed, old world tropical beach character.

The location is even more beautiful than the photos reveal. The view from the cottage porch of the harbor, town of Basseterre and Nevis in the distance is spectacular both day and night. While you will be sharing the pool and gardens with guests during the day, the location was never overly crowded or noisy. After 5 pm, the place is all yours. The owners and staff are helpful, friendly and welcoming.he property has a bar and small restaurant open daily from breakfast and lunch.

Dinner is served Friday and Saturday evenings. There are also three additional restaurants open nightly for dinner within a two minute walk of the cottage. The hosts provide a separate secure gated entry for use by renters 24-7.

Renters should keep in mind that the closest swimming beach is a 10-15 drive away. Taxis (which are plentiful) or rental cars are necessary to visit the beach and other tourist destinations.

The center of the town of Basseterre is approximately a 10 minute leisurely stroll along the harbor, where you will pass fishermen and open air produce sellers. Except for the cruise ship oriented tourist shops at Port Zante, the town is a traditional and authentic Carribbean village - a rarity for a tourist destination. Two small, but full service grocery stores are situated near the ferry and cruise ship docks.

A ferry trip to the sister island of Nevis is a must. The island is a bit quieter and less populated than St. Kitts, with beautiful architecture and gorgeous Pinney Beach.

All in all, we rate the Palms Court Gardens cottage as an extraordinary rental at a truly reasonable price. We highly recommend it

Lovely and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Everything is just as it is pictured, absolutely stunning and comfortable. Ernest was very accommodating, especially the night that we arrived so late. Claudia was always responsive by email, which was helpful since this was a last minute trip for us. The restaurant had delicious food and we found some nice souvenirs in the shell shop. We've already recommended to friends!
