About Debbie or Serge Hanson

We live in Colorado near Denver. Serge works as an environmental engineer and geologist. Owns a small consulting and earthwork construction company. We travel to Puerto Penasco every chance we get by flying to Phoenix and driving down in a car we have stashed there. We love the ocean and boating and have a 25-ft Bayliner cabin cruiser and are owners of the Siana, a 42-ft Californian charter vessel in Puerto Penasco harbor 1/2 mile away from our condo.

Debbie or Serge Hanson purchased this condo in 2010

Why Debbie or Serge Hanson chose Puerto Penasco

We love going to the ocean in Mexico and Puerto Penasco's location is close to the US border which allows us to drive there. This is the closest ocean to our home in Littleton, Collorado.

What makes this condo unique

This condo is a great value for a family. Fabulous view! Great for just viewing the ever changing Sea of Cortez!

Great location, excellent accommodation

  • 5 of 5

We can highly recommend this condo for a longer stay or a weekend getaway. We stayed here for 8 nights with 4 adults and 3 children. It is spacious and offers high-end appliances, dishes, linens and extras. When we arrived the place was very clean and ready for us. Everything was working as it was supposed to. There were no issues at all. We were also very impressed with the extensive DVD collection. Dishwasher worked great, blender worked overtime (better than the one we have at home) to make excellent Margaritas, no issues with the internet either - it worked great. The condo is centrally located near multiple grocery and convenience stores, where you can buy your water, food and drinks. Provided BBQ grill was the best in the entire complex. There were even a few more foldable chairs under the master bed, which we didn't find until the last day. Referral to Boat and Fishing club was awesome, we went on a really fun Catamaran trip. Massage therapist comes to the property pool-side every weekend, getting a massage right by the ocean was a great experience. Surrounding condos were mostly empty during the week. Place got a little more full during weekends, but it was still much nicer and less crowded than the high-rise resorts. We had a super relaxing time sitting on the patio watching the ocean life. Be aware that the bunk beds are probably only recommended for children, they don't seem sturdy enough to hold a full-size adult. However, our 14-year old son slept just fine on a bottom bunk. Security guards are on-site 24/7. We felt really safe. They also cleaned the pool every day, which was probably not even necessary, but left us with crystal-clear water. Hot-tub was filled and bubbles worked, it just didn't heat, but water temperature was nice in May/June.

Long story short, if you pick this place you will not be disappointed. We will definitely keep it in mind for our next vacation.

Great condo with amazing views!

  • 5 of 5

Great 3 bedroom condo on th ground floor. Full kitchen and beautiful pool. There were a few quirks with the internet and dryer but the owner was responsive and had an English speaking property manager was very helpful. The public beach of Sandy Beach is a few blocks to a mile away, but it was way too crowded for me by the resorts. So being able to come to a more quite condo was great. It did get busy on the weekend but that is to be expected.

The mattresses were comfortable as well as the sofas. DIRECTV was great but remember you won't get your local channels. The pool was green at times but you could still smell the chlorine. I don't know much about pools though.

If you bring an Amazon Fire stick as we did, don't be surprised if it won't stream as the internet is slow ( all of Mexico I'm told).

Great communication with Debbie and Gir a first timer in Mexico an amazing trip and very relaxing. Highly recommend.

Great property! Clean and comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

The condo was everything it was advertised to be. Very clean, spacious, and comfortable. The infinity pool was big hit with the kids! Having 24 hour secured parking, was really nice for some peace of mind. All of the people... security, maintenance, ect. where really friendly and accommodating. The owners sent us a lot of helpful information, such as a map of the area, along with suggested places to eat and shop, as well as some helpful things to lookout for. If you are looking for a place to stay in Rocky Point that is little more private than the large resorts, this is the place!

We would also highly recommend the Rocky Point fishing club for any charters you would like to do on the water.

The Bird Island tour is an absolute must. Swimming with sea lions, on the tour, is an incredible experience!

A Week of Pure Relaxation...

  • 5 of 5

We were all blown away by this condo. The views, the pool and ocean being right outside the door, the location, etc. It was perfect! Security was great; they patrol the grounds regularly and we felt totally safe the whole time, even driving or walking around town. The locals are very friendly and want to see you have a good time. The condo itself is lovely; spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything you might need. No issues with the wifi; it worked fine. We chose this condo over one with a sandy beach because the tide pools were so interesting. Our 4 year old had so much fun searching for sea creatures at low tide and she was not disappointed; starfish, crabs, sea urchins, etc. We saw dolphins swimming by almost every day. For a sandy beach experience, El Mirador beach is just a few hundred yards away. But between the pool and the ocean we didn't miss it.

Lots of good restaurants just a short walk or drive away. You MUST eat at Pollo Lucas; we ate there 4 times in one week. And Capone's... don't even get me started. Some of the best food we've eaten anywhere.

We loved staying here... we felt it provided a bit more of an authentic experience as opposed to staying at one of the resorts in Sandy Beach. I can't imagine staying anywhere else... we're already planning our next trip. Thanks Debbie!

Wonderful Trip - This is a great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

The condo was awesome. The property is well maintained and had everything we needed. The view was phenomenal. It was absolutely perfect for our family group which consisted of me, my husband, adult children and a grandparent. Everyone was comfortable and we had a great time. Debbie and Serge were so friendly and helped us find a fishing charter service in town. They really try and go above and beyond for their renters. Recommend this to anyone planning a trip to Puerto Penasco.

This beautiful condo is on the very edge of the Sea of Cortez in the fishing & vacation village of Puerto Penasco, known to the Americans as Rocky Point. Only 65 miles south of Arizona, it is a pleasant 1 1/4 hour drive from border crossing at Lukeville, AZ. The living room patio door opens onto a patio situated only 80 feet from the water's edge at high tide. The ocean view changes constantly as the tide advances and retreats twice daily, exposing thousands of rocks and hundreds of tide pools swarming with marine life. Hermit crabs, snails, black brittle starfish, and small fish abound in the tide pools and lure in hundreds of seagulls, pelicans, and plovers, with occasional white cranes and albatross. As the tide advances, the pelicans dive and gulp their lunch in an ongoing spectacle of splashing and flapping wings. Occasionally a pod of dolphins cruises by, sometimes jumping out of the water to the delight of the guests. Bring your camera, binoculars, & shell bag to this Cornucopia of marine life.

Other Activities: Watching sea lions, dolphins, varied marine life, walking the beach, tide pools, charter fishing trips, sunset cruises, whale-watching cruises in Jan - March, swimming, dining, shopping, night clubs, many restaurants and bars!
