We live in Colorado near Denver. Serge works a s an environmental engineer and geologist, running a small consulting and earthwork construction company. We travel to Puerto Penasco every chance we get by flying to Phoenix and driving down in a car we have stashed there. We love the ocean and boating and have a 25-ft Bayliner cabin cruiser and are owners of the Siana, a 42-ft Californian charter vessel in Puerto Penasco harbor 1/2 mile away from our condo.
Debbie or Serge Hanson purchased this condo in 2010
We love going to the ocean in Mexico and Puerto Penasco's location is close to the US border which allows us to drive there. This is the closest ocean to our main home in Littleton, Collorado.
We had quite a gang: Parental units, Grandparental units and four teenagers. Everyone was delighted with their accommodations, and the kids had the bunk room all to themselves. Great location and right on the beach with lots of tide pools to explore. We enjoyed the banana boats (3 times!), hair braiding (once) and some wonderful massages on the patio. Very close to town, so lots of good restaurants available. Kitchen was very well outfitted, so we made some yummy dinners in the evening. A wonderful memory for us all.
Beautiful place!! Feel safe and have everything we needed! Thank you all so much!! We will be bck next year!
Stayed Oct. 15-22
Let me start by saying we have been renting in Rocky Point for almost 10 years, this is by far the most well equipped, clean and comfortable place we have ever been in. It truly gives the feeling of visiting somebody's home, It's not just the usual rental property filled with flea market furniture and dollar store kitchen utensils; it is evident the owners care.
Location is great, it was close to everything we needed. Booking was very easy, owners were very responsive via email...No problems at all.
Unless you're staying at a resort on Sandy Beach, swimming pools are pretty hard to come by, so this was a big plus for us. For those with young kids, the pool is just out the back door making it easy to keep an eye on them from your patio.
The beach is rocky. This might be a negative if you are a true beach worshipper, however if you snorkel or dive this is actually a plus, as there is quite a lot of sea life at high tide. We saw dolphins and sea lions every day.
Overall, I would highly recommend this condo to anybody and plan on returning next year.
This place is great! Nice quiet area too. We spent most of our time on the patio just relaxing. The condo was very clean and had everything you could ask for. If you forgot to bring anything, it's probably here! Lots of beach towels, great bedding, very good selection of family friendly movies, excellent A/C and big tv's with cable! We really appreciate all of the thoughtful things this place has to offer. Unless you spend big dollars for A Sandy Beach mega resort, you won't find a cleaner, nicer place than this. Oh, the folder with things to do and places to eat was awesome too! It includes maps, a list of stores and restaurants, and who to call for deep sea fishing. Very nice!
The property is clean and safe. It is SO close to the water and the pool is a huge plus as well. You can walk out on the rocks to look at the tide pools right in front of the property, but to get to a sandy beach you have to walk a ways, or even better, drive to other locations in Puerto Penasco. It is gorgeous though and the condo is nice, clean and well stocked with mostly everything.
Just for your information, the security guards that man the parking do not speak English, so make sure you brush up on your Spanish before you go. Otherwise, you may be stuck at the gate for a while with a communication barrier. The security guards are very particular about who they will and won't let in. They make everyone in your party wear a bracelet the whole of your stay that they charge $15 to replace, so don't lose it!
Also, the security guards don't let people come by selling items or services to bother you. But, just in case some get by anyway, don't buy jewelry from anyone but Juan. He is the only honest one we found. Others tell you that they have silver "puro" but it is only plated. Juan has the real deal. He's been selling around there for years and has built up a trusted clientele with the locals. We met a couple of them that were wearing his stuff and swore by him.
We took the owner's advice and booked a deep sea fishing trip through Marco. We had a great time and caught a lot of fish that they clean and filet for you. We had great homemade fish tacos using the barbecue provided and had lots to freeze and take home with us.
Debbie, the owner gives you helpful advice including a map of useful sites that was very helpful to us as new comers to the area. The condo is very centrally located and you can get just about anywhere very quickly.
The walls adjoining the other condos are thick concrete so that is very good for sound insulation, but it was not good for cell service and wifi as it was non existant in certain rooms of the condo.
Overall, great condo! Great time!
This beautiful condo is on the very edge of the Sea of Cortez in the fishing & vacation town of Puerto Penasco, known to the Americans as Rocky Point. Only 65 miles south of Arizona, it is a pleasant 1 1/4 hour drive from border crossing at Lukeville, AZ. The living room patio door opens onto a patio situated only 80 feet from the water's edge at high tide. The ocean view changes constantly as the tide advances and retreats twice daily, exposing thousands of rocks and hundreds of tide pools swarming with marine life. Hermit crabs, snails, black brittle starfish, and small fish abound in the tide pools and lure in hundreds of seagulls, pelicans, and plovers, with occasional white cranes and albatross. As the tide advances, the pelicans dive and gulp their lunch in an ongoing spectacle of splashing and flapping wings. Occasionally a pod of dolphins cruises by, sometimes jumping out of the water to the delight of the guests. Bring your camera, binoculars, & shell bag to this Cornucopia of marine life.
Other Activities: Watching sea lions, dolphins, varied marine life, walking the beach, tide pools, charter fishing trips, sunset cruises, whale-watching cruises in Jan - March, swimming, dining, shopping, night clubs, many restaurants and bars!
