About Carye

Carey and Dave are well traveled and both work at a large hospital in downtown Austin. Carey is from Texas and has been in Austin since 1988, Dave is from Montana and relocated to Austin to be with Carey (and enjoy mountain biking year round!). If you would like any recommendations for outdoor activities, cycling trails, parks, etc they can help out. Two small, well-behaved dogs live in the other half of the duplex and will be seen in the gated off backyard when they choose to come out their doggie door. No barking!

Carye purchased this studio in 2006

Why Carye chose Austin

We chose this property six years ago when the house was built because we both love cycling and wanted to be able to ride our bikes to downtown and work--20 minute leisurely ride to Town Lake, 10-15 minutes to S. Congress restaurants, Continental Club, great coffee shops and Mexican food.

What makes this studio unique

We love the location of this home and the low upkeep. Tile floors throughout keep things clean and dog friendly, vaulted ceilings make the area feel larger. The master bedroom gets plenty of light, but has 2' wooden blinds and curtains if you would like to sleep late!

Best of worlds, cozy and convenient

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed here during our birthday weekend. We are UT alumni so we come back to visit often and this little guest house is our favorite place to stay so far, way more private and "homey" than a hotel. We spent most of our time in Central and South Austin so the location was really great for us (about 10 or 15 minutes to most places we went). The other reviews are right about the bedding, so comfortable! We spent most of Sunday after noon lounging in the bed watching TV. Carye and David were also very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back in the future!

Fantastic studio property!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for two nights and had a great stay. The property was perfect for what I needed: extremely clean; most comfortable bed EV.ER; white noise machine for a sound night's sleep; very helpful and friendly hosts. Would definitely come back again!! Thank you for your hospitality of opening up your home.

Two things to mention: I arrived late the first night and couldn't see the house number because the lights weren't on. Might help future guests to leave the front lights on; so they can see the numbers; secondly, the TV wasn't working correctly. These both aren't big issues at all, but I wanted to make you aware. I wasn't there enough to watch TV anyway. Besides, if I lied down to watch TV, I'd be asleep in 2 minutes because of the comfy bed! 😃򐰠

Thanks again!

Owner's Response: Thanks, Dave--so glad you enjoyed your stay! We have the same mattress and yes, it is super comfy. Thanks for the heads-up on the tv and house numbers. I replaced the light bulb over the house numbers and a call to Google Fiber corrected the tv problem. See you next time! Carye and Dave

Compact and convenient, with thoughtful details

  • 5 of 5

The studio was nice, comfortable, clean and well-stocked with small conveniences (wine bottle opener, dishes and silverware, extra towels and soap, etc). It was clear to us the owners care about the property and checked in with us to make sure our stay was going well. We weren't far from SoCo, and very close to I-35. There is a bit of road noise (no worse than many hotels) but the white noise machine mentioned in the ad worked well. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

Very clean and private. Owner was available via phone at any time.

Modern and clean. Dual sinks in bath. Cable TV was nice. Convenient to Congress and 6th st with a car. Overall only issue was bed, if you like a fluffy mattress you will be in heaven, not so much if you need firm. For a weekend stay with not a lot of luggage a great option for the price.

Owner's Response: Jarrad-Thanks for your nice review of the studio. It is much appreciated! I went into my listing and tried to further emphasize the quality of the mattress ("super plush with tempurpedic overlay") so that those needing a very firm mattress would take notice. The bed probably receives more compliments than any other aspect of our studio, but all mattresses are not for all bodies! Thanks, Carye

Cute and quiet

  • 5 of 5

Cute little getaway spot. My husband and I were traveling from OH to TX for a wedding and stayed here for 2 nights. Located a few minutes from downtown (we rented a car to drive back and forth). Kind of in an odd area behind some businesses but it is right off the highway which was very convenient. We didn't have any problems while there. I was mad I forgot my hair dryer and looked under the sink to find one there for use! Street parking is plenty. Wifi and Austin to-do magazines included in the room. Overall we had a great experience here and wouldn't mind staying again if we venture back to Austin! Lots of good restaraunts within driving distance (taco deli!), target, and the airport!
