This house was super comfortable for our stay. My daughters and I stayed here for a week in August 2013, and were very pleased with the accommodations. The house is located just a couple blocks from the beach, making it very convenient to walk down to swim or view the sunset. Harwich is such a nice town, and not overly touristy--honestly, it feels like "home". There's a grocery store just minutes from the house, as well as a great little seafood market (George's). And located where it is on the cape, everywhere we went was a short drive away. We couldn't have asked for a more convenient location!!
The yard is quiet and private. There's a really nice deck in the back allowing for dinner or just a quiet beverage of choice. I didn't think my youngest daughter would ever get off the swing. My daughters are begging me to build an outdoor shower at our house!! Some of the greenery is a little overgrown, but as it was the end of the summer, it didn't look any worse than my own at home.
There is plenty of space for everyone, with two living rooms plus the deck. The bedrooms are nice. My kids loved that they each got their own "top bunk", and I loved the king size bed. We never even went into the third bedroom--mostly because I didn't want to have another room to clean up--but it was bright and looked like it would be very comfortable. We all commented on how comfortable the beds were after our first night. Having a kitchen while on vacation is such a treat. It had all the tools necessary for cooking our own meals. The oven broke just before we arrived, but I wasn't planning on baking anyway, and the stove worked--plus we grilled quite a bit. Having a washer, dryer and dishwasher while on vacation are priceless. The whole house was spotless when we arrived, and all the windows and skylight make it very comfortable and airy. There are a few minor cosmetic blemishes to the house, but nothing that detracted in any way from the pleasantness of our stay. We can't wait to go back.
Karen has been wonderful to deal with, quick to answer any question I've had since first contacting her about the rental. She was also quick to get my security deposit mailed back. Thank you, Karen, for being the perfect host!!
I would recommend this location for anyone UNLESS they want to party loud and hard into the night. It's a nice, quiet neighborhood, great for small children as there's no through-traffic. The entire Cape is just a short drive from this great location.
Walk to the beach from this lovely cottage. Stoll to Harwichport Center for coffee or dinner. Ride your Bike to the Cape Cod Rail Trail or spend a day at the Cape Cod National Sea Shore. You can head to the bay side for lovely sunsets or the Chatham for the Band Concerts. Located on a quite street ( quite literally a circle) you can sit on the deck or nap in the hammock while the kids entertain themselves riding bikes or playing wiffle ball on the lawn. Getting Married in the Spring or Fall on the Cape? Walk to Holy Trinity Church in Harwich. (other houses on the street may be available for rent for the rest of your family).
All you need to have great, relaxing vacation on the Cape.
