Having started working at her father’s Architectural firm in Mexico at the age of 17 and educated in interior design, my wife, Jayne designed our home. With her design and with enormous assistance of my father, I built the home in a two year period ending in July, 2008. My day job is equipment startup engineer.
The Owner purchased this cottage in 2008
After living in several big cities including Chicago and Dallas, my wife and I move back to my home state of Maine. After a few years in Maine, we dreamed of building a oceanfront home and found a pristine location in Eastport in which we built this home.
Leaving directly from the properyy, I have easy access to the ocean and can leave for a paddle on the kayak. Amazing boating, the nearest public boat landing is less than 1/2 mile from my home. The home is very private but is located just minutes from downtown Eastport.
Our family just came back from Eastport and were so fortunate to be able to stay in Jayne and Alan's fabulous home. Their home is so inviting and comfortable. Jayne has thought of everything possible to make your vacation a wonderful experience! The view from the deck is gorgeous and I took many beautiful pictures of sunrises. It was fun to walk along the shore and pick up seashells. It is such a quiet area. The little town of Eastport is very quaint and the locals in town are just the most friendly and helpful people you could ever meet! The restaurants are also very wonderful in Eastport. We went on the Windjammers whale watching tour and the family members that run the tour were so nice and informative. I would totally recommend going on a tour with them. If you are looking for a wonderful Maine experience, I would definitely recommend staying in this beautiful ocean front cottage.
That about says it all. The house is excellent, clean and spacious and the location is drop dead gorgeous. Just my wife and I stayed there and, aside from the famous Fundy Fog each morning (which blew out midday like clockwork), everything was spot on. Everything you pretty much needed was in the house. The backyard stretching down to the water was great for yoga, reading, just laying around a LOT. The other reviews I read got the rest of it, re fish, food, etc. so not much more to add.
My wife and 4 or our relatives stayed in this beautiful house for a week. Our expectations were far exceeded. The owners were very helpful. The local people were outstanding. We almost felt like family in Eastport. I would highly recommended this house and this community for anyone wanting to take a great vacation. Whales, Seals, lots of fish, Lobster, Campobello, the tides. (I posted this once but it has very appeared)
My wife and I with two children (6 & 10) really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. This was our 4th trip up to Maine in 5 years and first Down East trip. The home owners are fantastic and are very helpful in supporting a successful trip. They also have a great cottage which was well designed, clean, and very comfortable for us. Our activities for the week included day trips to St Andrews, Campobello Island, Deer Island (NB), Quoddy Head State Park, Shackford State Park, East Port, etc. There was a lot to see in a very down to earth, quiet setting where the nature is breath taking. Very well worth the trip as the location was perfect to see the area. Reviewing the pictures of the cottage upon writing the review made me sad it is over.
We stayed here for a week with our four children and my parents. It really is a great house...clean spacious and comfortable. There is plenty to do in the area or you can just relax on the deck with a good book and great scenery, We did a combination of both. Got lobsters from the lobsterman just down the road, he even cooked them in sea water. Jayne and Alan were very responsive answering questions and returned our security deposit quickly. This is definitely one of the best houses we have ever rented. A favorite location in Maine too!
This beautiful home has it all for the perfect vacation. Jayne has thought if everything to make this a home away from home. The little touches from binoculars to area attraction brochues, thank you! We thoroughly enjoyed our time here! The home is beautifully appointed and the kitchen is large and very well equipped! Our children loved exploring the coastline at low tide...bring the galoshes. Eastport is a treasure, don't miss whale watching. My husband and I especially enjoyed waking up for the sunrise and watching it together on your lovely deck. It was breathtaking to see the sun come up on the eastern most location in the US. A definit life memory! We will definetly return!
