About Gregg

Hello! We are the Haines Family. We are the owners of the 'Honey Pot' cabin as of September 2012. We bought this cabin together because of our love for the Smoky Mountains. We are so excited to share this wonderful cabin with you. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. Thanks for your interest!

Gregg purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Gregg chose Tennessee

Our family has been vacationing in this area for years. Kate and I married here and my parents Steve and Marsha honeymooned in Gatlinburg 35 years ago. This is one of our favorite places to come and since we come so often we decided to buy a cabin. This cabin has been well maintained by the previous owners and we vow to do the same. Our family loves hiking through the mountains especially at places like Clingman's Dome and Laurel Falls. You will never find a cleaner amusement park than Dollywood that is located 10 minutes away! We also recommend attending the Dixie Stampede for delicious food and great entertainment. The arts and crafts community tour begins just minutes from the bottom of the hill. Also, if you are in town during the season, you have to attend at least one of the Smokies Minor League Baseball games. There are so many activities for the kids and the baseball is great!

What makes this cabin unique

This cabin is centrally located between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg in a gated community. Dollywood, Splash Country, National Park, Craft District, Shopping Outlets, etc. are only minutes away. The cabin is easily accessible from many directions and has paved roads throughout. You will enjoy the privacy you have with this wooded property that sits on 1.5 acres.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This cabin was completely amazing! We had tons of fun staying here! The multicade and the hot tub were super fun. Also, the shuffleboard was a cool, new experience. We went to a lot of places, and they were all great. We went to the wax museum, which was really fun...but also kind of creepy. We got to go to the Castle of Chaos part of the wax museum. I thought the Outbreak part was going to be cheesy, but it was actually really scary. Both of my brothers and my gramps walked out. We drove into Gatlinburg and got to eat at Bubba Gump's and do the sky lift. It really high, but was still fun. The kids played with the cool rocks on the other side of the road across from the cabin. I wish we could have stayed longer because this cabin is absolutely amazing. I wish I could live here. Thank you so much for the use of your beautiful cabin.

Best Holiday Vacation, EVER!

  • 5 of 5

The terrible wildfires occurred just before our visit and we waited anxiously on news about the cabin we had rented. The owner, Gregg was very honest about how hard the area had been damaged and we did discuss canceling our trip, but the more we watched the news, the more we wanted to go support the area. We did see some very devastating areas, but it really didn't affect our trip or our activities at all. I'm so glad we went! My husband and our two adult children had the best Christmas ever at this cabin! It was perfect in every way. We hadn't traveled together in almost 20 years, so I admit, I was a bit nervous. We also chose to fly instead of driving, so we were limited on things we could bring. The three bedrooms and levels were perfect for us. We all felt we had our own private space to seek refuge, but most of our time in the cabin was spent by the fireplace or in the hot tub. If there was something we needed, we usually stopped at a grocery store before heading to the cabin. We spent a wonderful day at Dollywood and another in The National Park. Christmas Eve day we only left the cabin once to eat at Texas Roadhouse, because we wanted to spend as much time in the cabin as possible that day. We left on Christmas Day and it couldn't have been a more perfect day to travel. I posted so many pictures of the cabin and many friends were interested and commented that it looked just awesome! It was awesome! Thank you so much! We hope to return again!

Owner's Response: Joanie, Thanks so much for the review. I am so glad you enjoyed Christmas at the cabin. The wildfires were a catastrophe but the people of Sevier County will make sure the area rebounds and is better than ever. Keep us in mind for future visits as we do offer discounts to returning guests.

Great place to get away

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay and the cabin was very comfortable. The only downside was that we were only able to use the cabin once because it stopped working and no one came to repair it. Other than that, it was a great stay.

Owner's Response: Lucia, Thanks for staying at the honey pot and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. I apologize about the use of the hot tub. Maintenance did go up the afternoon of New Year's Eve after you had called. There was a breaker that was tripped. It was in working order when they left but it must have tripped again by the time you tried to use it. I wish you would have called me again so we could continue to address it. I did not hear from you after you had called the first time. We are currently addressing the issue so hopefully that does not happen again.

Very nice cabin

  • 4 of 5

My family was very impressed by this cabin. It had great rustic furniture and decor. There was ample room for our extended family of seven, including 3 children. The cabin is conveniently located with easy access to both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. We would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone who is looking for a great mountain retreat.

One great place + 1 awesome cabin + 5 star owner= seven days of bliss

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was as wonderful as others have described:nestled among the trees and nature with all the amenities of a home away from home...yet not far away from all the entertainment in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg that any family would delight in. My two city kids, a tween and a teen, never once complained about being bored in the cabin (testimonial to how great the games room was...). The cabin itself was immaculate, spacious and yet homey. A place that felt like "home" for the week we were there.

Last but not least, kudos and our appreciation to Gregg for his responsiveness to our needs. He was an utter pleasure to deal with.

Thank you, Gregg and family, for the use of your lovely cabin. We had a truly wonderful time. Although this was our first visit to Smokies, it will not be the last...and we hope to be back soon.

Looking to relax

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed the stay at Honey Pot very much! The owners were attentive and responsive to our questions prior to our arrival. Everything was as pictured. The owner had advised us to bring our own towels, which we did, but everything else was provided. The location was beautiful and had easy access to Seviereville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We would choose the Honey Pot again for a future trip.

Owner's Response: GForce, I love the family nickname. I am also glad that you enjoyed your stay and got to relax a little bit. The provided towels are not the fluffiest, so I am glad you brought your own for comfort. If you return to the Smokies, please give me a call. I would love to discount a future stay with us again.
