West Virginia Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Welcome to wild, wonderful, West Virginia! This 5-acre plus property, located in the gated community of Timber Mountain, is your ideal rental for a family vacation, perfect for 2 couples, or even for a girls getaway with your group of friends. Experience the panoramic mountain views from the large deck and breathe in the pure air. Wake up to the gorgeous views as all the rooms open into the long deck from their own french doors!

As you enter the cabin you will find custom log seating, comfortable furnishings and immaculately done rooms. Let go of all worries as you unwind by the wood stove in the family room or take a relaxing bath in the 'spa' themed master bathroom.

The main living area is an open floor plan with a modern, fully equipped kitchen, cooking utensils, and spice rack provided so you can cook up your favorite meal even away from home! Or if you would rather eat out there are many options (Homestyle American, Mexican, Pizza, Cafe) within 5 to 10 miles from the cabin.

The cabin does have Wifi but no streaming is permitted. Also, Capon Bridge Public Library which is only 5 miles away near the Bridge in town has Wireless Hotspot available free of charge. They also have laptops and printers that you can use, should you need to catch up on some work while away.

All rooms are fitted with window ACs and ceiling fans to keep you cool in summer and baseboard heat to keep you warm and cozy in the cooler months. Change the ambience or create a romantic mood just by adjusting the many recessed lighting features throughout the cabin.

The Cabin at Capon Bridge is in the northern Shenandoah Valley near Winchester, Virginia, two hours from downtown Washington DC or Baltimore and only hour and half from Germantown and Frederick, MD. The property has 5 plus wooded acres for exploring and natural rock and flora for you to admire. If you have pets, this is an ideal property for them to explore. Children are more than welcome and will enjoy toasting marshmallows around the fire-pit on a starlit night!

Go hunting at the nearby Edwards Run, only 7 miles from Capon Bridge, where white-tailed deer, turkey, quail, squirrel, rabbit, and grouse hunting opportunities are available in the wildlife management area.

Cacapon State Park and Berkeley Springs State Park are about a 30-45 minute drive from the cabin. Enjoy the natural spring baths, antique stores, restraurants and Berkeley Castle if you do venture out to Berkeley Springs.

For hiking and rock climbing enthusiasts there is the nearby Ice Mountain (14 miles from cabin and about a 25 minute drive) maintained by The Nature Conservancy where you can explore the unique geology of the area or take guided tours. Call Steve and Terry Bailes at 304-496-7359 to schedule a guided tour.

History buffs must plan a visit to the historic site of 'Caudy's Castle' where you can get a private tour of the famous Castle Rock. Please call historian, Mr. Johnson of Bloomery, WV at 304-856-3065 for more information and to schedule a visit. Before you go, also check out the YouTube video for the story of the brave James Caudy who was born in 1707 in Netherlands and came to Hampshire County after arriving in the Frontier in the 1730s.

For railroad buffs and birdwatchers, the nearby historic Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad in Romney offers both the ride of a lifetime as well as unique eagle sightings. Maybe catch a Murder Mystery experience aboard the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, a 32-mile round trip through the valleys and vistas of the Cumberland Narrows.

About The Owner

Our family just fell in love with this sunset view from the deck! We find this cabin to be a very relaxing and calming change from our usually hectic lives, and love to get away when we can. Hope you will enjoy this mountain cabin as much as we do!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We enjoyed our stay in your cabin a lot. It was very cozy and suitable for our group of five. The location was nice too, many nice places nearby, such as Berkeley Springs, and a nice terrain for walking. We enjoyed the wood stove and the grill very much. The terrace (deck) was the most popular eating spot! We made very good use of it--reading, napping, using the computer all took place on the deck. Thank you very much!

Charming cabin with beautiful view

  • 4 of 5

My husband and two sons very much enjoyed our recent stay - we appreciated the quiet, cozy vibe. The cabin came equipped with thoughtful touches, like laundry detergent, coffee filters, tissues, etc, which was very convenient in those moments when you realize you've forgotten to pack something vital. The beds were comfortable, and it seemed the master bath, in particular, had been recently updated.

My only constructive criticism would be about the furniture offered in the main living space; we all agreed that we'd prefer a comfy upholstered chair (or two), rather than being provided with two high-top tables. Perhaps the outdoor furniture being stored inside could also be placed elsewhere to free up space?

Overall, we thank you, Angie, for sharing your home with us. I could definitely see us renting it again, perhaps during the Fall, when I imagine the surroundings are absolutely gorgeous, and we could take advantage of the beautiful deck you have running the length of the back of the house.

Beautiful cabin, Beautiful views.

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was very relaxing and very nice. Beautiful view off the back end of the house. My only downfall was no television. I didn't know going. This wasn't a big deal, and wouldn't of mattered to me at all but we caught bad weather and it rained every day. But it honestly was a blessing in disguise and made it much for relaxing.

Other then that, it was a great time and we will be returning again.

Capon Bridge's Mountain View Cabin

  • 3 of 5

This was a nice get-away location. The "shopping" and "things to do" were a little mis-leading...this is more of a get away from city life place. The stores ae more gas-station type stores and dollar stores (but the latter had a lot of items in it). It is great for pets and elementary aged children...I would not take small kids (toddlers) there, because there are a lot of rocks, inclines, and thick underbrush. There is a pond close by that was excellent for fishing...we caught about 30 blue gill and catfish in about 2.5hrs. Our dog swam in the pond and had a ball...there is a also a place to have a nice family picnic. The cabin is average size and has most all amenities. The cookware is pretty dated and there is no AC...not a place I would go in July-August, but it was bearable in June. They also had a nice fire pit outside, which was perfect for making s'mores. Overall, we had a good time, and I would go again...most probably in the fall when the mountain should be filled with colorful leaves.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your valuable feedback. Glad to know that you and your family enjoyed your stay at our cabin and had quite a successful fishing experience at the lake in the community. Also very delighted to hear that you will stay at the cabin again and so am honestly surprised by the three stars. This is a mountain cabin and the rocky terrain is part of the natural topography or the lay of the land. Children are very welcome but it is the responsibility of parents to watch them at all times indoors and outdoors, guests with toddlers and babies have happily stayed at this cabin before. The cabin is located on a ridge top in a very laid back small town with friendly people. It has a very charming countryside with pastoral surroundings and rolling hills and mountains. Here you will not find big box retailers, mega shopping complexes, outlet stores, chain restaurants or crowded strip malls. This is the ultimate getaway experience! Shopping was never highlighted as one of the attractions. There are however two dollar stores in town that carry most provisions at a reasonable price for guests. In addition there are restaurants that are locally run businesses in this small town, the service is always good, the food is definitely fresh and the smile always genuine! You can always also cook in the cabin--we now have two new sets of cooking pots plus spices, condiments and even cooking oil and coffee as always. We have also now installed a window AC in each of the bedrooms for those guests who prefer it. The cool crisp mountain air and the surrounding trees have always kept the cabin at a comfortable temperature in the summer months.

Great place to get away from it all

  • 5 of 5

The property is clean and spacious. It has a nice, roomy kitchen, It is only five minutes off of Rt 50-the main thoroughfare through this part of West Va. It is near outdoor fun on the cacapon river and the south branch potomac river. While only five minutes away-from the highway it seems worlds away perched high on top of an isolated mountain ridge with a private lane in a gated community. It was great to walk on the lightly travelled access roads nearby and see 35 deer in one evening. No Wi-fi or TV-but only a few minutes from the library Wi-FI is in town. The owner is very accomodating. Nice little restaurant for breakfast-Belle Mountain on 50 five minutes away. Enjoyed our stay.

a very comfortable, clean place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of four and a dog. The cabin is very well maintained and has lots of convenient kitchen features. (condiments, sandwich bags, tin foil) Only thing I would recommend was a better marker and or directions for finding the cabin in the dark. We arrived on a rainy, foggy night and had a very hard time finding the place. Probably wouldn't be difficult if there hadn't been any fog. (directions could include the exact milage to the cabin) A table for four would be a great addition but we made due with the bar type seating. Loved the movies and extra homey features! Thank you for the wine!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review and feedback! We do take pride in maintaining the cabin well and also appreciate guests who treat the cabin with respect and keep it clean. I have now posted the house number using reflective letters so the property is clearly identifiable even on a dark, foggy, night! Thanks for your suggestion about the table--we're currently looking for a suitable 4-chair dinette set. Also, glad that you enjoyed the DVDs, I just also added several Holiday-themed family movies to the collection for the enjoyment of our guests.
