About Ingrid Kemperman
This post and beam house was built for us in 1997, custom. We are committed to high standards, and high ceilings. We know the virtues of the area well, as this was our primary home for years.
Ingrid Kemperman purchased this House in 1997
Why Ingrid Kemperman chose Nassau
Bright, airy, yet cozy, even on a cloudy day. Ceiling to floor thermopane windows. Perfect mix of understated sophistication, and bucolic rural environment. New Yorkers and Bostonians invariably decelerate and breathe easy here - we've had many.
What makes this House unique
Bright airy, yet cozy. Mix of sophistication, modernity, and low key living in a bucolic environment. No airs, just fresh air.

Beautiful and Remote
I spent a lovely few months at this house during the last few weeks of my (first) pregnancy and after the birth of my son. It had everything we needed to be comfortable, and Ingrid and Simon were good hosts. Tons of wildlife, great stars, and ripe black raspberries on the porch!
All that said, it's definitely a country house--we were about halfway through our time at the house before we had working internet, there's sketchy cell phone service, and there are definitely mice around and about. If those things would ruin your experience, it's probably not the best choice for you. I grew up a few miles away so, for me, they were inconveniences (mostly expected, except for the internet), but didn't change the full tenor of my experience.
You were generous and patient with regard to the internet issues at the time of your stay. We have since changed to a new internet provider.
Thankfully our internet is now running smoothly!
Very nice, well kept, lots of space inside and out, great for families!
We had a great time staying at this house! A very nice place with a lot of property outside. It's in such a nice and quiet part of Upstate NY. Highly recommend!
I so enjoyed spending a week in this light filled open space. Its tasteful simple decor with high ceilings and lots of windows revealed beautiful views from every room. The house is surrounded by vast green fields and rolling hills. Sitting on the porch off the living room watching the sun set was a wonderful way to end the day.
Columbia County as a friend of mine likes to say is NY in the country. There is so much to do here... great hiking, cultural activities and restaurants with easy access to surrounding towns including the Berkshires.
It was a pleasure dealing with the owners who were very accommodating. I will return for future vacations.
Quiet, beautiful and comfortable inside with great views
Went up with a couple of friends to unwind, hike, join friends for dinner in Albany. We had 4+ choices of known hiking trails and areas within a 20 minute radius, and Albany was a short 30 minute hop. The house was beautiful, the fireplace was a great option one evening. Easy to chat with owners.
Lovely getaway winter break
We are a family of 5 from Boston. and your peaceful home gave us a perfect opportunity to unwind and have some old fashioned quality family time, much needed! The house itself is gorgeous. - intricate post and beam construction and we would light the fire and stare up at the high roof, and stars outside. You really can't see other houses at all and so feel n styled in the valley. It's really nice to arrive at a home that feels like one, with a proper kitchen and condiments instead of the usual inadequate place with a little salt and not enough saucepans. We were able to make some terrific meals. I loved all the games there.and the rugs and furnishings were bright and beautiful. All the kids liked their rooms and the beds were comfy.
The trails right out the house provided some great hikes, and we were lucky to have some good snow for some snow shoeing and cross country skiing in the hills behind the house. Cool sledding hill too! We were close enough to town with some good stores and a nice pub.
Everything was easy and we enjoyed interacting with you. We look forward to coming next year.
A Slice of Heaven!
Can't say enough wonderful things about this gorgeous property! We loved it so much that we actually stayed there twice—once in the summer and once in the winter. The house is bright, airy, and neat as a pin with handsome furnishings and a lovely, stone fireplace in the center of it all. The well-appointed kitchen is just right for whipping up quick or gourmet meals. The bedrooms are a nice size with big, comfy beds. One of the best features, however, is the giant porch that looks out on postcard-pretty rolling hills. (Just the right spot for relaxing evening cocktails!) Surrounding the lovely yellow house, is plenty of land for strolling and exploring...plus nearby hiking trails, ski resorts, and pristine roads for long jogs. I would recommend this house for groups of friends, ski enthusiasts, romantic couples, or harried parents with rambunctious kids. (The latter was us!) There's even a wooden swing set! In short, this house is perfection. Cannot wait to go back again.
Columbia County, buccolic rolling farmland, mountain and pond views. Near Chatham, NY; near Berkshires/Tanglewood, near Albany/Saratoga/Troy. Sophisticated cultural offerings coupled to beautiful American pastoral. The real deal.
