Hear the dolphins surfacing from your living room. This one bedroom, newly renovated, waterfront home is absolute paradise.
We both grew up in the North East and have lived in Florida for 6 years. We live and work in Bonita Springs but love to get away to Goodland on the weekends.
Amy Adams purchased this house in 2012
We decided to buy in Goodland because we love the rustic feel of the island. Once you stay at this house you will want to come back year after year. Someday this will be where we retire.
The day we first looked at the house, we fell in love as dolphins swam 10 feet away from the house. This home sits on a cul-de-sac and overlooks beautiful water and mangroves. The only sounds you hear are the osprey, dolphins, and quite puttering of boats going by.
Goodland is really the most unique, eclectic village we have ever visited. Charming places to eat and live entertainment at the fun bars almost every day. No need to go far to rent jet ski's or go for a boat trip around the islands, there's a couple with their own business right next to Sam's Bar and Restaurant. We walked to breakfast and explored the village many days. It's a very short ride to Marco for groceries, shopping, etc.. Marco beaches are lovely, but as most ocean resort towns, parking is at a premium. Try parking at the shopping area where Marco Movies is located - walk across the street to the public beach access pathway. When your done at the beach we highly recommend going to Marco Movies where you can see the latest attractions and have dinner or snacks (including beer and wine) served to you while you're watching the movie, or dine at the excellent Italian restaurant right there. Amy and David are delightful hosts, their rental home is clean and comfy, no need to ever leave it. We loved just sitting outside, watching the osprey, pelicans, dolphins and boats go by :) We would highly recommend this property!!
We had a great time at the Island Girl! Great location and vibe. Stan's a MUST on Sunday's!
Relaxing and enjoyable location ~ close to Naples and Marco Island beaches
Amy was very responsive to any needs and inquiries. Highly recommend for an alternative to hotels or resorts.
Everything one needs is provided. Great view of the protected sanctuary and many creatures that inhabit it.
We had a wonderful stay, right on the water, in this quaint, homey fishing village. Island Girl is a charming place situated on a quiet cul-de-sac, looking out over the water, as pictured in the photos. It was comfortable, clean, and equipped with everything we needed for our stay--towels, beach towels, cooking utensils, dishes, and even a deck of cards.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this delightful waterfront home in Goodland. I was fortunate to stay in the upstairs two bedroom apartment, but the downstairs one bedroom unity appeared to be just as nice. The view of the water from the upstairs living room is perfect. There is enough boat traffic to provide a little interest, but the traffic never intrudes on the view or the wildlife. Fishing ospreys and dolphins were an every day occurrence. The apartment was very well equipped, and spotlessly clean. I launched my boat every day at the Goodland Boat Park, just around the corner, but never noisy or intrusive. Goodland is a very unique place.
Location, location, location! The little town of Goodland is perfect for those who want an alternative to the high rise condominiums on Marco Island with quick access to the beaches and shopping a very short drive away. We spent hours every day just sitting in the very comfortable chairs out back watching the boats, pelicans, osprey, jumping fish, and dolphins! So peaceful and breathtaking. There are 4 waterfront dining choices in walking distance from the house, and Stan's is a must see if you like an informal funky setting with live entertainment. We spent a lot of time making the quick drive down 41 to hike and explore the various Everglades and Big Cypress parks. The house itself was as described and then some. We so appreciated the beach chairs, umbrellas, bikes, washer/dryer, etc. very homey and comfortable. The bed provided a great nights sleep. It does get buggy outside at dawn and dusk, so bring bug repellent if you like to sit out at those times. What would make this perfect for us: screens on the bedroom windows so we could sleep with the windows open and some shading on the back deck overhang that could be lowered in the late afternoon when the sun is unbearably strong. Everything was very clean and well maintained.
Amy and her husband Dave, couldn't be nicer to work with scheduling and booking a stay at their home! We absolutely loved the place and truly enjoyed our visit. The house was lovely and clean and very peaceful. We look forward to our return. Many thank to Amy & Dave.
The tiny community of Goodland offers visitors laid back charm unlike any other place in the region. This sleepy fishing village changes drastically on Sundays when hundreds of residents and visitors make the pilgrimage to Stan's for outdoor music, drinks, and dancing!
