This spacious 2 bedroom/2 bath, 1500 square foot condo can be rented as a 1 bedroom/1 bath. We simply lock off the back bedroom and bath, and you enjoy full use of the rest of the condo. This is one of the few first floor condos that is directly on the water. Read what a recent visitor from Sweden said about my condo. 'Hi Jay, Everything is fantastic!! We have been out diving several times and doing some fishing as well. Your condo is marvellous, fully equiped with everything one could ask for. We very much enjoyed our stay.

To give you a more complete description I have included a Welcome message that guests find in the casita to guide them on their way to a 'Luxurious Adventure'.
Welcome to Mr Jay’s Casa de Belize
Upon arrival you will be greeted at the front desk by friendly staff that will be taking care of all your needs during your stay at the Grand Caribe. While you are there, make a reservation for the onsite restaurant “Rain” for early cocktails and dinner for that night. You will find excellent food and great ambiance at this roof top, 4th floor restaurant and terrace. Hugo and Victoria, formerly with Ahi Restaurant now own and manage “Rain”.
In the morning have breakfast at Ak-Bol, a yoga retreat. Make it there before 10:00 AM to get a good seat at the bar looking out to the sea. You will find this “Cheers” kind of place about 200 yards to the south (REMEMBER LEFT FOOT IN THE WATER, YOU ARE GOING SOUTH, RIGHT FOOT IN THE WATER YOU ARE GOING NORTH). Say hi to Melio, the owner, originally from Chicago. Favorite delights: start with a Belican beer and I suggest you have a couple of salbutes or puposas (chicken, beef or fish). This and a little Maria’s hot sauce and you will be ready for whatever the day has to offer. You also may want to try their Fry Jacks with a fresh tropical fruit plate, most delicious. Morning and afternoon Yoga classes are available for a small fee. One and a half hour full body massage in their upstairs grass hut is highly recommended. You can ask Melio when you are at Ak-Bol to make a reservation.
Walking back, stop by the front office and ask to see their book of activities. You can book with the Grand Caribe tour director for many exciting experiences, including the Lamanai Jungle River Cruise and Mayan Ruins excursion. Want to relax? Spend some time at the swim-up pool bar and café serving tropical drinks and local fare. Happy Hour is from 3:00 to 5:00. If you go fishing you can bring back your catch and have them prepare it or take it to Akbol to make a feast for you. Water taxis are readily available for transportation North and South. The dock attendant will help you hail one down.
Golf carts are available for rent through Grand Caribe. Dial 0 for the front desk to make a reservation. They have carts available at the resort. You can rent for the day or by the hour if you need a quick trip to town. Carts are a good way to explore the fishing village of San Pedro. It is a charming Caribbean town with good shopping, grocery stores and plenty of bars and restaurants. There is a $5 US round trip toll to cross the bridge into San Pedro. Stop by Fido’s for a drink and I’m told it’s a great place in the evening to see and be seen in town. Also the Blue Water Grill near the airport is on the beach and serves very good local fare. You might want to explore the beautiful resort of Victoria House just a little south of San Pedro.
Other Restaurants To Try:
One of my favorites is the original Palapa Bar and Grill now Located in town at Wet Willie's Dock on the beach. You can reach there by turning towards the beach from the roundabout. Same great staff and great food. Tell them Mr. Jay sent you and ask for a “Lou” burger”, a specialty created by Lou Gentine of Sargento Cheese Company of Plymouth, Wisconsin. We were all together when Lou concocted this most unusual burger and it has now made its way as a permanent item on the menu.
Ahi Restaurant is just a little north of the Grand Caribe. Take the road or beach path. Lovely outdoor restaurant on the water. Quaint and romantic.
A must do, Sunday Funday at Crazy Canuks, just south of the airport. Live local talent starts playing around 3PM great fun afternoon.
Some things to know:
Wireless Internet service is available at no charge.
The paintings in the Condo were purchased at Belize Arts which is located on the city map (E4) located next doorway north of Catholic church, east side of front street, next to Fido’s Bar & Restaurant. Introduce yourself to Lindsey, the owner, she is from England. This is a wonderful art gallery and gift shop. You will certainly find some treasure there to take home.
Belize exchange rate - $2 BLZ to $1 US. ATM’s are available at Banks in San Pedro.
To retrieve your messages on the telephone dial 737 use code 1900. Press P for play and D for discard.
Call front desk to make arrangements for passage to the airport.
Don’t forget to add your memories and recommendations to the guest book on the counter. There are many excellent reviews of excursions and restaurants from our guests. Pay particular attention to an extensive comment written on August 9th, 2013. Here he mentions a Dr Daniel Gonzales at 23 Pescador Dr. telephone number 501-226-2660 for medical issues.
There have been many new amenities in the last year at the Grand Caribe.
• Rain Restaurant and Rooftop Terrace - fine dining with international chef Hugo Myer
• Swim-up bar and grill
• 5 pools and 2 hot tubs
• Fitness center
• Convenience store on-site

Living in the desert, Scottsdale, Arizona, my Belizian ocean front condo gives me the best of all worlds.
Jay Binsfeld purchased this condo in 2008
It's the best, first floor, on the beach, direct access to the blue waters of the Caribbean, 5 star resort environment, walking distance to great restaurants, concierge service, room service, the list go on. How could I refuse.
This condo far exceeded our expectations! The resort was amazing and top notch as well as the condo we stayed in. The best location of all the condos it is front and center closest to the beach and pier. The staff at the resort are so friendly and helpful felt like family trying to help you get the best recommendations and tours for your vacation! The owner Jay was so quick to reply and was so helpful in all of our questions, as it was our first time to Belize. We loved it and would love to go back again! Thanks for a beautiful place to stay and experience the magical island vibe what a special place you have there!
Loved staying in this condo! The ocean views from this unit were breath taking! We loved sitting on the patio. The unit was equipped with everything we needed and very comfortable. Grand Caribe is an exceptional resort and the staff is amazing. They were always there with a smile to help. They helped us plan all our excursions for the week, rent a cart, make dinner reservations, anything we needed. Rain restaurant was wonderful. It’s located on the roof and the sunset views were incredible. The swimming pools are incredibly relaxing and beautiful. We also enjoyed hanging out at the pool bar. Our vacation here was perfect. I would love to come back and stay in this condo again.
This is one of the best properties we have traveled to yet! The staff at Grand Caribe were fantastic to work with. Very accommodating and attentive...from the Front Desk to the main restaurant and pool restaurant staff and house keeping as well. We also received invaluable help and guidance from the concierge desk, when making excursion bookings. Everyone did 110% effort there and were happy to assist. The property facilities themselves were exceptional too. Very clean, well manicured and maintained. The condo was very comfortable and had everything we needed to feel at home when we weren't out enjoying the outdoors. The condo had incredible views of the turquoise waters, as it looks right out onto the ocean....the water can't be more than 100 feet away. The patio was the perfect way to end the day while enjoying the night breezes as they made the coconut palms dance. The condo was immaculate and in excellent condition. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Belize, at the Grand Caribe and in this Condo. We hope to return someday very soon.
We just returned from a week with the kids on spring break and this was the best place we have ever stayed! They even do your laundry for you everyday. The pools are great and so is the restaurant and new grocery they opened. I can't say enough about the staff onsite. Two of my boys got sick the last night and I had to find the night guards to help me find some things. They got hold of the manager and had extra sheets, towels, pillows, etc within minutes. In the middle of the night...that was impressive. We will definitely stay here again if life finds us back on the island. You won't be disappointed with the location or amenities. Everyone was very friendly. The condo is right on the beach with a great view. It was a nice quiet complex. For the size you'd expect a lot more noise. The condo was spacious and functioned very well. It is laid out well so you don't feel like you are on top of each other. Kudos to Grande Caribe and Jay. Thanks for having us for the week!
Where to begin with this beautiful condo at such a great resort! Jay's condo has everything you need! If you plan to cook, I would pack a few usual spices, S&P is there. How nice to find coffee, as well as creamer & sugar were provided. The laundry service was a HUGE plus. Every morning the girls took our laundry & had it back by afternoon. I could have packed much lighter, had I known how reliable they were! This unit has a lovely view of the Caribbean Sea. Even though the unit is ground floor, it's quite private from passers-by, because of low vegetation in front of the patio. Wifi and Cable TV a plus. The unit has all high end appliances/tile etc. BEAUTIFUL!
Grand Caribe staff is wonderful. Every one is quite friendly and helpful. I felt very safe here, as well. 24/7 there is a guard/employee on the dock, around the building, at the front door. We had no trouble getting picked up at the airport or taking us back on time. Our driver was very informative and friendly.
We enjoyed Ak Bol. It was a quick stroll down the beach to the quaint beach restaurant. Yoga is on the covered dock. The food is excellent, I had the coconut french toast, and my husband had breakfasts of Chorizo one day and Breakfast Burrito the next, both were great. The smoothies are outstanding and big, I had a coconut, pineapple with a shot of rum. SO good! If you get a Bloody Mary, they tend to spice it up quite a bit, but very good.
Rain Restaurant is excellent, as well. Great food with a beautiful view, from the rooftop. If you want a long walk or have a golf cart, go to Coco Beach Resort. We went for lunch. Fantastic outdoor areas, pool and bar are amazing. We all had very good meals here.
Food, snacks and beer can be bought at the Beach Basket, steps away. Try their excellent & fairly cheap, frozen Tuna Steaks. Delicious! We found Belikin beer here for about $1.25 US per bottle, not bad. Pool bar and food is good but a bit pricey.
We only rented a golf cart a few times. You can rent one daily or hourly. We took the water taxi into town a few times, as well. Driving into town can be a bit confusing, with one way streets and a lot of traffic at times, so the water taxi was easier for us.
Jay provided us with such good information before and during our trip. He was always quick to respond to questions or concerns. He was so helpful. I would go back to his luxurious condo in a minute! Thanks so much, Jay!
We stayed 8 nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The property is a first class facility and the service is excellent. The staff takes care of everything from daily maid service (including laundry) to raking the beach every morning to arranging transportation and tours. The unit itself is beautiful and spacious with a fantastic view out to the water and GC dock. Early risers can get a great sunrise view across the water from the patio while enjoying a cup of coffee. We took advantage of the onsite kayak rentals and paddled out to the reef for some snorkeling. Not nearly as good as the snorkeling trip to Hol Chan and Shark/Ray Alley, but still well worth the short paddle ride out. The location of the property is very good. Far enough out of town to avoid the crowds and noise, but close enough for a quick golf cart ride in for shopping or dinner. The recommendations for restaurants left in the condo for guests were spot on. We especially enjoyed the short walk down the beach to Ak Bol and had several meals there during the week. We would definitely recommend Grand Caribe in this unit in particular to anyone who may be thinking of going to Belize.
