About Kelly Fasel

I bought this house and met my husband at the Newport Blues Cafe on Thames St. within 3 months of moving in. We were engaged there and had our wedding reception right down the street at Easton's Beach. We love this house and the entire island. We were very sorry to leave, but wanted to get closer to family with a baby on the way!

Kelly Fasel purchased this house in 2009

Why Kelly Fasel chose Middletown

This is such an amazing location. Steps to First Beach, where there is beach volleyball, a carousel, and the Atlantic Beach Club restaurant complete with an outdoor bar on the beach with live music. Right across the street from the beach is Flo's Clam Shack and a couple great sports bars, and a few yards up the road is the Atlantic Grille, which is our favorite breakfast place around. All of this is a five minute walk from the house. And 2nd Beach (Sachuest Beach) is a mile walk away, which is our favoriate beach for relaxing, sunbathing, and swimming (the picture of us from the wedding is on 2nd Beach).

It's also about a mile walk to Cliff Walk, which is an amazing walking/biking trail with the ocean on one side and the beautiful Newport Mansions on the other. Mansion Tours on Bellevue Ave. are a fun and memorable activity. Also on Bellevue is the International Tennis Hall of Fame, where you can dine overlooking the grounds, tour the mueseum, or even book a court yourself, or attend a professional match if the timing is right.

Thames St. is only a 5 minute drive ($7 cab ride away) and it is chalk full of restaurants, bars, live music, theater, shops, festivals, concerts, comedy shows, sail boat rides, outdoor ice skating during the winter, fireworks on the 4th, arcade and ice cream.

Ocean view drive on the other side of the island is another one of our favorites for breathtaking ocean views and Brenton State Park, which is a gorgeous pet friendly park, great for picnicking, kite flying, or just relaxing.

10 minute drive inland, there are Polo matches every Saturday evening during the warmer months, as well as Newport Winery tours and tastings.

Thank you for the wonderful visit to Newport, the house was perfect. Several members from our family commented on the great layout of the house and the perfect location. Hopefully we can visit again in the future.

Comfort and convenience

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable vacation home. All the basic essentials. Sizeable backyard, great for kids and for the adults to relax when kids go to bed. Location is very convenient. Second time staying here and would Definatley recommend to others.

This house was perfect for our family reunion, and a toddler's second birthday on the 4th of July! We really lucked out on the weather so the air-conditioning came in handy. Having 3 bathrooms was great, too! The bedrooms were big so we were able to move the play n pac between bedrooms. The downstairs was huge with it's own bath and TV. Very quiet, too. The sun porch in front was the perfect place to drop sandy shoes and is set up with cute chairs. The back yard was great for barbeques, which we enjoyed nightly, and the grille was provided. The interior was homey and felt just like a place on the beach should. Fun beach toys are in the basement for kids and big kids, too! The location was only a block and a half to the beautiful and private beach, and we were there everyday. Warm water made swimming the best. We walked to Flo's for daily clam cakes, even though we said, "Not again!" and down to the merry-go-round for a kids concert and Del's lemonade. Restaurants were easy walking distance. We did use our car once to drive to Newport for shopping. The grocery store was handy and close and a gas station, too. Perfect spot for families. Thanks so much-hope to return next year

Great location in beautiful RI!

  • 4 of 5

Great location and a cute house. The owner was easy to deal with and accommodating. Overall, the house was clean but could use some interior maintenance. We enjoyed our stay in RI.

Owner's Response: Thanks Erin, we're glad you enjoyed your trip. I'm sorry that you were not 100% satisfied with the house, but appreciate your feedback so that we can try to make things as close to perfect as possible for future renters. Please know that your suggested improvements will be addressed during our next maintenance trip this summer.

Spacious, clean, comfortable, great location/owner

  • 5 of 5

This home suited our family perfectly. It is spacious, clean and comfortable. The kitchen is large, well-stocked and very functional. The bathrooms are the same. The location is great. It’s a very short walk to the closest beach where we would often go for sunsets and Second beach, which has a great surf, is less than a 5 minute drive away. There are a number of restaurants all within walking distance yet the neighborhood was nice and quiet. It’s very conveniently located for all the area sightseeing spots. There is a lovely fenced-in back yard with patio furniture, hammock, grill, and a nice outdoor shower. The owner, Kelly, was extremely helpful. She provided a great custom made guide to the area and she was very timely answering some questions we had before our arrival. She even went out of her way to help us with a personal issue we had. Overall it was a great vacation and we would definitely do it again.

Perfect location, cozy home

  • 4 of 5

Adorable house on quiet street. Close enough to the beach the waves lull you to sleep in the back bedroom. The breeze off the water allowed us to open the windows on most days. When the days got warm, we had the welcome relief of the window units which cooled the house down nicely.

I found the beds (we tried the front and back bedrooms) to be a bit uncomfortable (not much support), but other than that the stay was perfect. My teenage daughter loved having a space to herself downstairs.

Owner's Response: Hi Lori, We're very happy you enjoyed your stay. I'm sorry that the top bedrooms did not match your sleep preference. We try to accommodate a variety of tastes by having three mattresses of varying firmness as we understand that mattress comfort differs from person to person. We had actually just added a pillowtop cover to the front bed in order to make for a softer sleep option after receiving the opposite feedback (visitor before you felt it was too firm). Please feel free to remove the pillowtop cover upon a future visit and that will be sure to be a firmer sleep surface for you. Thank you again for staying! Kelly
