Francesca Goldsworthy purchased this apartment in 2001
We have always loved Notting Hill because of the wide open spaces of the Royal Parks combined with vibrant and eclectic mix of designer boutiques and market stalls of Portobello, and the variety of places to eat and drink which makes it a unique part of London.
This is a great place to stay where you will be able to experience every aspect of London!
Fantastic flat, lots of room; very convenient location; close to restaurants, shops, park. It was perfect for our family with two adults and two teenagers. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.
Our family of 2 adults and 1 child stayed here late July, 2016. This is a comfortable basement apartment which has good natural lighting in both the main living area and the bedrooms. The home-like atmosphere is reinforced by artwork (including drawings by children), books, a number of kids' DVDs, and assorted tea / coffee mugs. The stairs down to the apartment are difficult to navigate w/ luggage, but otherwise perfectly fine for everyday use and have a handrail. We only watched the TV for about an hour of our 11 day stay (we were in London, after all), but that worked well and we noted the DVD player but didn't try it. The living/dining area is spacious w/ fast wifi accessible in that room as well as the first bedroom. The kitchen is small but fully functional. We mainly had breakfast here and "takeaway" for a few dinners.
Due to its semi-underground location, as well as the residential street it's on, this apartment is very quiet - you can hear the occasional low rumble of the Tube, which is not at all loud or disturbing. The Notting Hill Gate station is about two blocks away and is a fabulous connection to the Central, Circle, and District lines. The bus stop is a half block away and also makes great connections. If you take the Heathrow Express to Paddington Station, the cab ride to the apartment is less than 9 pounds and is the best way to get your luggage there at the start and end of your trip (we tried the Tube at the start of our trip and had to haul our suitcases up and down a number of stairs - tough, unless you are only doing carry-on). There's a Tesco market for basic groceries about 4 blocks away.
We didn't meet our hosts, but they were perfectly pleasant in email and phone interactions, including asking us at the end of our stay if everything had been fine. They had a bottle of wine and a fresh pint of milk in the refrigerator to greet us when we arrived, and the apartment was quite clean. The pictures accurately portray what you will see on arrival. My family and I recommend this place without hesitation and would happily stay here again.
This was our first visit to London and we couldn't have chosen a better vrbo. We are a family of four and there was plenty of room to spread out. After s long day of sight seeing it was great to come back to a clean, comfortable and beautifully furnished place. Being able to do laundry was also a huge plus! The artwork by Christos hanging on the walls, along with the wine and fresh flowers made it feel very welcoming. Both our arrival and departure flights were changed and Christos and Francesca were extremely accommodating. The flat is on a quiet street do noise isn't an issue, yet it's nearly across the street from Kensington Gardens. only s couple blocks away is the Notting Hill tube station where you can catch the Circle, District or Central lines to all the major attractions. I would highly recommend the flat and hope to visit again soon!
Spent 10 nights there with two other women on Wimbledon and sightseeing trip. Less than five minute walk from station and near grocery markets, restaurants, pubs, and shops. Ten minute walk to Portobello Road market which was delightful. Flat is filled with tour books and brochures and owner's original artwork. Bathrooms a bit dark but plenty of natural light to other rooms despite being basement apartment. Owners very accessible and met us upon arrival. Towels need upgrade, but other than that, we were very comfortable, felt safe, and it made a wonderful home base for us. Much better than staying in hotel.
I travel to London every year on business and stayed in this flat last fall with a business colleague. We were so impressed with the place that I said "If I ever bring my family to London, we're going to stay here". Fast forward 6 months and we just finished a family trip to London and Paris, with a week at this flat with 3 adults and 3 teens. It was perfect. Plenty of space for the entire family and exceptionally clean and comfortable. Everyone loved the Notting Hill Gate neighborhood with all the restaurants, shops, and easy access to the Tube and Hyde Park. Christos and Francesca were excellent hosts yet again, making everything about this trip a fabulous experience. Can't wait to return to London - and to this flat. My home away from home.
We spent 11 nights in the flat, 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The location is excellent, close to many restaurants and minutes from Notting Hill Tube. The flat is very close to Kensington Gardens which is a lovely place to walk or jog. We ate in many local restaurants, one favourite for breakfast or lunch was Cafe Diana and the Champion pub on the corner is well worth the visit. There are three mini supermarkets within walking distance, all more or less selling the same items and prices are very comparable. Our favourite was M&S. The washing machine does take a long time - allow 3 hours for a wash. The dryer isn't vented so does not dry your clothes completely, but just enough for you to then hang them on the clothes drying rack. There is an abundance of hot water. The ensuite off the master bedroom is small and could do with more hooks or hanging rails for towels - we ended up using the clothes drying rack for ours. The kitchen is well supplied, the only items that really need updating are glassware. There was no washing machine detergent or paper towels so be prepared to purchase these and we also ran out of toilet paper, the supply was not long enough to last 11 nights. The only other slight inconvenience was the owner was not there for our arrival and we did not have access to the flat and had to wait on the street with our suitcases. Luckily it was a nice sunny day and once we called the owner he was there in 10 minutes. We would highly recommend the flat, it is a great size for 4 people. I am from London and have lived in Notting Hill, this did not disappoint.
