This beachfront home, located in the quieter area of North Forest Beach at the junction of Dune Lane and Jacana, has recently been completely redecorated. It features five bedrooms and four baths, a contemporary kitchen, a sunporch overlooking the beach, and a large family room. The deck area has been enlarged and now includes an oceanfront pool.
This home is conveniently located on one of the Island's best beaches. The Coligny Circle area with all its shopping and entertainment is an easy walk down the beach only ten streets away, while the Crown Plaza Hotel is just up the beach.
The home is a two level design. The upstairs is the main living area and has a tremendous beach view. There are two bedrooms on this level. The master is outfitted with a queen and has a private bath while the other bedroom has a king bed and a full bath. On the lower level, which opens onto the pool deck, there are three more bedrooms. The queen bedroom has a private bath while the other two bedrooms, both with a set of twins, share a bath.
In the late 70's I came to HH as a single mom. I needed to earn enough to educate my three children. They graduated from college and moved out of state. My profession was Realestate. In the 90's I married my college boyfriend. He was a Trial Lawyer in Fl. In 2011 he had a stress induced heart affack and died, so I moved back too HH. My first ocean front house, which I purchased in 82' is now my permanent home. We didn't rent 83Dune for many years as there were so many friends and family who wanted to visit. However, now that I am again on my own, prudent me decided I should rent. it is a fun business, as I get to meet and know so many nice visitors.
Carolyn Austin purchased this house in 1994
When I purchased the house, it was my son' job to remodeled. He took out all the windows, doors, etc., added a new kitchen, two baths, a bedroom, and a family area which is great for the younger ones. The house is not large, but clean, well equipped, and comfortable. The area is great, close to Coligny, and the view is the best on the beach. Through the years, it has been a favorite of many. I like to limit the number to 10.
Outstanding view, good area, convenient location, affordable, good bedding, two almost new air conditions, well equipped, comfortable, one side deck with no exterior exit, and pool and deck is enclosed 360.
The pictures on the site do not portray the actual condition of the house. This is a poorly maintained home that needs a lot of work. It is a poor reflection of Hilton Head Island.
Unfortunately it made me give 1 star as it is not even worth that.
We were able to enter the house 45 minutes past the stated arrival time due to the house not being ready. The outside is dirty and needs to be painted. This is a no smoking house, but as we entered the house we were greeted with the smell of cigarette smoke covered up by Febreze. As we went up stairs to the main floor the musty/mildew smell was very strong. Old carpet and a beach house do not go well together. Within 10 minutes of entering the house a scream came for me to kill the first big roach in the bathroom my daughter was using. After killing the roach I went outside to check out the pool area. The sides of the pool were covered in a black stain or dirt. The cheap plastic pool furniture was filthy, stained black, and covered in palm tree debris. The deck boards around the pool were wobbly. As I looked at the house from the upper side deck, you can see holes in the stucco, black rotten wood boards on the corner of the roof that exposes the rafters to the bugs and weather. There are other corners of the house that are not connected tightly, that leave gaps for the bugs to enter as well. Ironically the bugs I kept killing inside the living room were in the corner of the house that had the rotten exposed wood. In the "Master" bedroom there was a hole in the ceiling that I could look straight into the rafters that provided a direct entry for the bugs. The shower head came to my chest and I am only 6'1".
When we contacted the owner to let her know we were vacating the property and wanted our money back due to the conditions she became defensive and said she had never had a complaint in 20 years and hung up on my wife. I have tried to work with her on a settlement but she will not return my phone calls or messages. I
Renter be ware, this is a DUMP!
The upstairs air conditioning compressor went out Wednesday afternoon which made the upstairs unbearable. We tried to persevere but found out they apparently could NOT fix it. One of the couples had to sleep elsewhere Thursday night so we decided to leave Friday morning. Have been trying to contact owner to get a couple of days refund but have NOT gotten a response but I'm NOT sure if the email (the email I had was the confirmation of my payment was sent on 2/25/16) used was able to get to her.
I WOULD LIKE THIS TO NOT BE POSTED UNTIL I HEAR BACK FROM SOMEONE REGARDING MY REFUND REQUEST. I UNDERSTAND THAT THINGS HAPPEN BUT I DO NOT BELIEVE IT SHOULD IMPACK MY VACATION AT THE LEAST FINANCIALLY MUCH LESS THE UNPLEASANT TIME CAUSED BY IT.
Beautiful house located on Dune Ln right next to the beach. Walk out the backdoor through the private pool and the beach is at your fingertips. Luscious scenery and tasteful aesthetics, this property is sure to please and will keep you relaxed in the rays! Includes a grill and outdoor shower to make pool/ocean side an easy activity. Will definitely be coming back as soon as possible!! Highly recommend for anyone!
