Located in the gated community of Coral Hammock, you will be just down the street from the famous Hogfish bar & grille, Café Roostica, hurricane hole and Chico’s Cantina. The Key West Golf Club is just across the street while Lazy Dog Island Sports is just up the road for paddle boarding, jet skiing, and kayaking trips. You will be just a bike or car ride from Old Town Key West whenever you choose to take in the downtown area.
THE COMMUNITY & GROUNDS...
This large, freestanding home has two off street parking spaces directly in front, with a grassy lawn that surrounds the house front and back. The front porch offers a shaded area to sit and relax. The back porch is perfect for a barbeque and the big fenced-in back yard is great for the kids.
As Ringo's song says: “oh what joy for every girl and boy, knowing they’re happy and they’re safe,” this home truly offers the security of a gated community with amenities for the entire family. An enormous communal swimming pool surrounded by plenty of chaise lounges is through a gate directly across from your front door. Access to the clubhouse includes a shaded patio area overlooking the pool, as well as an indoor gathering area and a private fitness center with Cardio equipment and free weights.
THE LIVING AREA & KITCHEN...
As you enter through the front door to the living area, the bright colors of this tropical home immediately greet you with an island welcome. You will find lots of seaside touches to this home; with seashells, starfish, and sea creatures featured in art in every room. The dining area is just inside the entrance, consisting of a sturdy dark wood table with dining seating for up to 8 under a modern chandelier. The kitchen is fully equipped, with an electric range, dishwasher, and all of the appliances to create a great meal or cocktail hour at home.
Moving into the living area, two large couches (including a queen sofa bed) offer space to relax and stretch out in front of the flat screen television. The french doors open up completely to create an indoor-outdoor living space overlooking the back yard and deck.
The first bedroom is downstairs off of the living area, with two twin beds that are easily converted into a king bed upon request. French doors open up onto the back deck overlooking the lawn and garden. The bathroom is en-suite with a large shower.
Upstairs, the first master bedroom has a king sized bed, flat screen television, ceiling fan, and large, walk-in closet. French doors open out onto the balcony overlooking the back lawn and garden. The bathroom is en-suite with a large shower and vanity lighting over the mirror.
The second master bedroom is also upstairs, with a king sized bed, ceiling fan, and a full closet. The french doors open to the upstairs balcony. The bathroom is en-suite with a large shower, lots of natural light, and vanity lighting over the mirror.

I recently spent nearly a week at this property with my daughters and two of their friends (all teens), and the accommodations were absolutely perfect. We selected the property based on the positive reviews, and they're all accurate. The realtor was very accessible and eager to help.
A few things to note:
1. You need to rent a car (well, at least we really did). At the last minute, we rented a car through Priceline and got an amazing deal, but this house is a 15-minute drive from the heart of the Key West shopping district. Taking an Uber all the time would have cost us more overall, and we would have done much less exploring. To be fair, the fact that this house is on Stock Island (a tiny bridge separates the two islands) isn't really significant. There are major hotels just over the bridge into Key West, and they're nearly as far from downtown.
2. Use the realtor's recommendations for activities, but book them on your own and you'll spend less. They don't pressure you to use their concierge at all, so there's no criticism here. But I booked everything on my own, and usually online for the best prices.
3. We never went to Fort Zachary Taylor park, but we saw it from a boat tour and I wish we had gone. We went to Smathers Beach, and it was beautiful, too (and close), but Fort Zachary Taylor is where the locals go and it's larger and just amazing.
Great house, exactly as advertised
Our family of 4 had a great stay at the Octopus's Garden! The house is exactly as advertised -- really clean, well-equipped and comfortable. The service from Steve at Last Key Realty was the best we've ever had from an owner or rental agency; we can't say enough about how helpful and responsive he is. Our family would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Key West.
We all loved the unit. Four adults stayed here. Myself and my husband, along with my sister in law, and her sister in law. We had the 3rd bedroom converted to a King bed, and each bedroom had their own bathroom. Kitchen is roomy and very well stocked. Also it’s very close to the pool.
Steve, from Last Key Reality met us upon arrival. He gave us all the info needed for the unit, as well as suggestions for getting around, and a great list of preferrred restaurants and bars. He was very welcoming.
We took Uber anytime we went to Duval St area. Depending on where we were dropped off, the average price per trip was around $15-$18.
The only drawback is that we were on a very busy corner. So expect traffic noise. CVS is across the street, which proved to be handy. Gated community, so it’s safe. And you will be able to watch the planes from the Air Force Base from the back porch, which was pretty neat.
We all agree that we would absolutely return!!
Great place to stay!
We stayed at Octopus Garden the first week in January. We had 5 adults and 2 kids and we had plenty of room. The house was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. It was a great location and easy to drive into Key West and surrounding areas. Steve was amazing and he helped make our stay better than we even imagined! We would definitely recommend staying at the Octopus Garden and using Last Key Realty!
The house was exactly as advertised
The house was perfect for the 6 of us, very clean , spacious and exactly what we expected from the web site. Steve was fantastic even going out of his way to purchase a kettle for us, and always in contact to ensure everything was fine. A great complex that I would recommend.
Elizabeth was wonderful from the moment we arrived till checkout. Highly recommend this property.
