About Raj and Wendy

My father's family was from Louisiana and his cousin was a famous New Orleans writer, Lyle Saxon. I first saw the city on my 21st birthday and fell in love with it. I am a classical composer and New Orleans is 'nirvana' for a musician. There's always a story behind every door in the French Quarter. I am standing at the tomb of Marie Laveau, the famous voodoo queen and am writing a musical, Voodoo on the Bayou. I originally lived on St. Ann Street in the Quarter and got the idea from the walking tours that passed by my window.

Raj and Wendy purchased this condo in 2003

Perfect Location

  • 4 of 5

As others have stated this is a great location; right on Royal with a cute grocery across the street and constant live music. Nighttime is quiet and you can hardly hear any street noise. Studio is very clean and has everything you need for a short stay.

The bed was comfortable but for some reason was unusually loud with the slightest movement. I would suggest the owners update the pillows (very flat), linens and towels as it's all kind of a mish-mash.

Overall a great place to stay right in the middle of everything!

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying with us. We have tightened the new bed frame and have purchased new pillows. We use 100% cotton sheets with a high thread count so do not understand the linen comment. However it is true that we do not have matching towel sets.

Perfect quiet location in the heart of French Quarter.

  • 5 of 5

This studio hides behind a metal door right on Royal Street but is cozy and quiet. The convenience of this studio, Rouse's market across the street and the great patio make this a wonderful Retreat in the midst of so much activity. We were amazed that we could not hear the street noise at all and slept very well in the queen bed. The hosts were very gracious and we hope to return soon. Thank you for an unforgettable and affordable week in NOLA!

Real New Orleans Experience

  • 5 of 5

I love how VRBO gives you the opportunity to live like a local! This place definitely fits the bill. The building is very old & interesting...a metal door takes you to a hallway that feels like it is between 2 buildings, each well over 100 years old. Another metal door and you're at a beautiful old staircase leads you up to your private patio and room. The room is bare bones, but isn't lacking anything you need. The owners are super friendly and helpful. Raj went out of his way to help me with a personal item that needed repair. Then there is location! So perfect! There's almost always music right outside the door, just a block to Bourbon Street & close to the Mississippi River. And the price? omg...can't beat it!

If you're not!

  • 5 of 5

If you've never done a rental through's great!! This was my first time using this service, and I couldn't be happier! I visit New Orleans a few times a year and decided to try something different. This rental was half the price of a hotel room and was completely private!! It was a huge thrill leaving the apartment each time: opening the steel door and walking right onto Royal Street. It was a taste of living like a local! I traveled alone this trip, and as a female, had no concerns at all. There are three doors (two metal) between you and the street, I didn't have any problems, so I had no need to contact the owners. But they quickly responded to all my questions via email before I arrived. Love this place!!

Best Kept Secret in the French Quarter

  • 5 of 5

Location, location, location! Right in the middle of the action.

Comfortable, clean and quiet, perfect for taking a break or a nap, or getting a good night's sleep.

The room rate can't be beat. We will definitely stay here whenever we visit New Orleans.

An Amazing Time at an Amazing Location

  • 5 of 5

The condo was great. Excellent location right on royal, and all the regular amenities of a hotel room were provided: towels, soap, shampoo, hair dryer, and TV. I was lucky enough to meet with one of the owners and she was the sweetest person I have ever met. I would love to come back to New Orleans and stay here again.
