About Dan Sullivan

We have lived here full time and part time for many years. Love all four seasons. The property was the original homestead in Curtis Hollow in around 1780. We were able to preserve the orginal post and beam homestead {now the fireplace/dining room} Lots of history and good feelings abound. We love the rural setting with hikes to the waterfall, spring, top of Baldy yet minutes {we are about halfway between Woodstock and Killington} to great restaurants, shopping skiing, golf etc.

Dan Sullivan purchased this farmhouse in 1976

Why Dan Sullivan chose Eastern Vermont

Great history and spiritual sense of the property, open fields ancient grave site, spiritual garden, very quiet, with babbling brook and waterfall and miles of hiking trails. The house is very comfortable but made for a family to live in.There are lots of nooks and crannies for some quiet time but also great, warm open spaces to enjoys a group or family. We try to accommodate your needs and do wish that your stay be memorable.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The land is beautiful and we have worked hard to fill the lawns with gardens and quiet sitting areas. The home is owner designed with many separate levels for privacy and many large round windows for lots of light. The spiritual garden with stone labyrinth is special for us. And yes, we built the labyrinth ourselves.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Your farm has been a glorious place to watch fall come to Vermont. WE have hiked in your woods played a fair amount of tennis and watched lots of wildlife. We have had fun with your games [bocci, horseshoes, pool, darts, etc]. We are pleased that others could experience the farm too! Several of my brothers and sister in laws and friends have visited and everyone has been impressed with the beauty of your gardens, land and home. We are so pleased that others could share our wonderful experience!

Fabulous 4th of July Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

For the holiday weekend, my college roommates and I wanted to plan a mini reunion with our families. In total, we were 8 adults and 6 children - ages ranging from 8 months to 6 years old. When we found Curtis Hollow, we had a feeling it would be the right property for our group. Our visit exceeded every expectation. The house is large and clean with expansive common space for everyone to spend time together. We had kids sleeping all over the house and space was certainly not an issue. On the property, there is so much to do. We enjoyed the tennis court, hike to the waterfall, walk to the frog pond, yoga in the mediation garden and so much more. The hidden gem was the fire pit which we sat around every night after the kids were asleep! Dan, the owner, was on the property towards the end of our stay and offered all of the kids rides around the enormous property on his gator. We ventured into town a few times to shop at the farmers market, eat at the brewery on the river and take the kids for pizza. Some of the adults golfed one morning and others visited the gorgeous spa at the Woodstock Inn. We could have stayed longer and were sad to leave. We are already looking at dates to visit again next year! Thank you Dan!

Lovely property

  • 5 of 5

We used this fabulous property for a staff off-site meeting. The beautiful surroundings and well-equipped home were ideal for our staff retreat. It is luxurious without feeling stuffy or formal. Whether hiking on the trails, or relaxing on the beautiful porch, the home offers countless ways to feel indulged and refreshed. Dan is a wonderful host who responded quickly to every inquiry. He was flexible, particularly given our last minute change in plans. We can't wait to return next year!

Owner's Response: Your group was a great pleasure to host at Curtis Hollow Farm and I look forward to your return next year---the farm provides a good setting for a group and /or a large extended family to gather---there is lots to do for everyone and lots of space to disappear for a private moment when the confusion starts to get to you. Please let me know if there is anything i can do to meet the special needs of your next retreat here best dan

Just Beautiful! So peaceful!

  • 5 of 5

I know we just spoke but wanted to say again how much we all enjoyed our stay at your beautiful farm. My children and grandchildren wish we were still there. As do I. Thank you for being so kind to my family. I bought the grandchildren a book called "Good Night Vermont" we read it to them before bed at the farm and are reading it to them still.

Sorry I missed you on our way out.

We will be back soon! My son is a graphic designer and photographer he took this great shot of the waterfall. Hope you are able to open it.

Best,

Mary

Wonderful weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

A bunch of my friends rented this house for a long girls' weekend to celebrate my birthday and get away from the city during the hectic St. Paddy's Day weekend. It was a GREAT choice! The house is tucked perfectly away from the hustle and bustle, but not too far you feel as though you are in complete isolation. We were within a 15 minute drive of the very cute center of Woodstock and were able to do some exploring of the local markets and shops. The weather was warmer than anticipated for the snowing we were planning, but that allowed us city girls (and diva dog) to enjoy a hike around the grounds. The house itself easily accommodate 6 women (and a very high maintenance diva dog...lol), with plenty of room to spare. The kitchen was fully stocked, the rooms fresh and clean, the original "fireplace room" was super charming and made for great dinner atmosphere. Dan was super responsive to us and we appreciated not being hovered over by caretakers/groundsmen. We look forward to returning hopefully in the summer to really take advantage of the grounds and what the area has to offer!

huge clean and very comfortable weekend get away!

  • 5 of 5

It took me a while to find a house that would fit 12 people with the budget we wanted to spend for my birthday weekend but eventually stumbled on this house which looked perfect. Dan was very accommodating, and easy to reach via phone and email. He was kind enough to let me have 12 people without extra fees and dogs on the property (unfortunately friends didn't bring the dog). I was worried about sending out checks for deposit and payment since I've always done it via Airbnb with credit cards, but Dan was very nice and assuring. The house was amazing, had everything we needed, and all the beds were super comfortable (better than hotels!). There is four bathrooms with showers that supplied hot waters the whole time; even better, all the bathrooms had heat lights over to warm the room up which was really cool. The house itself have 6 bedrooms, and a game room, which was filled with books, games a pool table and pingpong table. the house had huge windows all around which let in so much light. Most of us went to Killingtons resort during the day which wasn't too far from the house. The rest of us who stayed behind would go into the village (very quaint), went on walks (hiking would be better without the snow), and made fires every night in one of the dining room. There is WIFI but kind of spotty and some people were not able to connect to it (no cell signal up there!). The only issue was that the housekeeping people arrived a bit early, so just be prepared to leave on time for check out! I would definitely come back to the farm for a summer get away and look forward to go hiking around the property. Dan was great and always responded quickly via email if I had any questions.

Owner's Response: dear Jennifer than you for your warm response--I am delighted that your group enjoyed your stay and look forward to your return in another season. The farm changes during the year but spring and summer bring many new things to do such as hikes to the waterfall and on the wood trails, biking, playing in the fields and in the brook, etc. When you return bring the dog the farm is a great place to let a dog run--if you do not mind the fact that he/she will come back very muddy--i do not. sorry about the wifi it usually behaves so i will look into that. The cleaning crew likes to get an early start on the day sorry that you felt pressed the last day i know when we are at the farm leaving is the tough part. When you return please remind me of your departure plans--if i do not have a turn over that day the crew can clean the following day and then you can stay and have a very leisurely departure. Once again thank you for your kind review and i look forward to your return.
