Pahoa House Rental Photos and Description

Absolute Oceanfront Romantic Beach House ..with Spa like Pool and Roof Top Deck!

Aloha from Kehena Beach House!

Precariously perched high on a lush tropical sea cliff amid a mature coconut forest at the ocean's absolute edge stands this extremely private and totally remodeled electrically gated, secure romantic escape for two which was designed with purely indulgent luxury in mind in every gorgeous detail.

The unobstructed panoramic views of Kehena Black sand beach and bay that one can enjoy from the living room, bedroom, kitchen, and both of the covered and uncovered open air oceanfront lanais (decks) coupled with the Tommy Bahama style high end designer furnishings and the 100% Turkish travertine tiled floors that extends to the dramatic upper level lanai with glass railing is guaranteed to leave you in awe.

The privileged guests of Kehena Beach House will be treated to the only private residence in this quaint coastal beach community that has no immediate neighbor on either side and has the only in ground oceanfront pool.

The beach house overlooks the beach to the left and it overlooks the coconut forest and the agricultural half acre parcel that adjoins the beach house to the right. The agricultural parcel is maintained by the developer to grow pineapple, sweet Hawaiian apple bananas, citrus, fragrant flowers and various species of native plants. It is not occupied or accessible, but it incorporates the 6 foot high lava rock walls that encircle the entire compound of which you are the only guests.

Upon your arrival , you will notice that the oceanfront block is secured with 6 foot lava rock walls adorned with a series of elaborate artistic copper gates and matching light fixtures. All were custom designed by famed Honolulu based french sculptor Frederic Zimmer. The entry pillars of the series of gates will be automatically illuminated throughout each evening for your convenience and security. Meticulously maintained professionally landscaped yard with a sprawling lawn that greets you with a large variety of colorful and flowering pleasantly scented tropical fauna as well as a cozy hammock that hangs beneath a pair of coconut trees. A spectacular young banyan tree, for which the island is well known, is a central fixture to the front yard. A private garden of exotic fruit trees and over twenty different varieties of flowering heliconia is situated across the street, caticornered to the beach house. Many of the cut flowers found inside of the beach house are, in fact, grown on site.

There is a large open air deck at the front door where you can enjoy the view of both the magnificent gardens and the rocky blue pacific ocean from the comfortable Thomasville crafted glass top outdoor table with cushioned seating for up to four.

The one thousand square foot beach house features a tropical themed bedroom with a California king bed and a den that views both the pool and the ocean on the lower level. Both rooms access the covered oceanfront lower level lanai through sliding glass doors and directly view the ever-changing seascape of the blue pacific ocean. The bathroom is wrapped in Turkish travertine tile with a glass block shower with a massage feature. The toilet seat is heated and has a built in wash let with both washer and dryer apparatus. A washer and dryer is located adjacent to the bedroom.

Upstairs you will encounter a great room concept with a fully equipped kitchen with all modern stainless steel appliances (refrigerator with ice maker, oven, stove, microwave, dishwasher, disposal), solid granite counter tops. An over sized bistro table capable of seating up to four abuts the kitchen. The living room has 2 large sofas with an ottoman and a large flat screen wall mounted TV with DVD player that can also be viewed from the dining area. Dish network provides access to over 250 channels. WiFi is provided at no extra charge. A private phone line with free unlimited calls to anywhere in the 50 united states is provided. The upper level has designer ceiling fans and a series of sliding glass doors that permit the cooling trade winds to offer excellent cross ventilation.

The two oceanfront decks provide dramatic direct viewing of the roaring pacific ocean which is literally crashing below your feet against the 50 foot rocky sea cliffs. It is also an excellent place to sunbathe in the buff. There is no disturbance of noisy neighbors or traffic on this cul de sac which is Kehena beach estate's most exclusive enclave of private gated absolute oceanfront residences.

The custom in ground oceanfront pool that abuts the beach house can either be accessed directly from the covered oceanfront lower level deck, or from the lava rock style stepping stones that one encounters in the front yard gardens that lead to a gated 6 foot lava rock wall. The lava rock style concrete pool is a work of art unto itself. It is situated within an exotic tropical garden where a variety of fragrant flowering tropical plants such as gardenia, Queen Emma's lily, Tonga taboo and the ever popular Hawaiian Puakenekene flourish. The pool has a keyed entry via an electrically operated canvas cover that promotes the efficiency of the solar powered heated water to the pool when it is not in use. The pool features a Fastlane device by endless pools which provides one with the option to swim in place at one's desired pace at the touch of a button. Additionally, there is an underwater light for night time use of the pool and a poolside switch to turn on the soothing jets. The pool is so private that one can skinny dip in complete privacy and concurrently enjoy the view at the ocean's edge.

It is hoped by the developer of Kehena Beach House that you have been provided with a helpful and accurate portrayal of what precisely you might encounter if you elect to visit here at this splendid one of a kind honeymooner's delight. We look forward to assisting you in enjoying a most memorable , relaxing, yet adventurous visit to one of the world's most intriguing and scenic land and sea scapes and are confident of your return patronage and referral to your friends, family, acquaintances and colleagues.

Mahalo nui loa (many thanks)

Guestbook comments from the manager

An unbelievable view and a very luxurious house where we could relax and unwind. The grounds and tropical gardens are beautiful. My wife and I absolutely love this place. Sitting on the deck and looking out at the ocean, seeing Spinner dolphins playing in the bay, was an amazing experience. The nearby lava fields and flows were spectacular. Love the black sand beach. We were very well taken care of, and everything about our stay was delightful. Can't wait to come back.

Hawaii on my Mind

  • 5 of 5

Kehena Beach House was amazing! My husband and I enjoyed the house completely. We sat out and enjoyed the ocean views at all four balconies/lanais, cooked breakfast every morning with no problems, swam in the pool everyday, laid out on the hammock, and slept like babies listening to the ocean in the master bedroom. Two days we were there, we are able to spot some dolphins from the balcony! Kehena Beach was a 5 minute walk and it was convenient - water was deep, but cool and it was our first time being in a black sand, clothing optional beach. Although we hit some tourist spots and had planned for more, we didn't do much because we loved spending time at the beach house. No regrets! We'll do more sightseeing at a later trip. After coming back home, we think about the Big Island and the beach house constantly and can't wait to return. The champagne, chocolates, and the shell necklaces were a nice touch, Tim and Ilahi.

Kehena Beach House

  • 5 of 5

I am sitting here trying to come up with words to describe our time at the beach house and all I keep thinking is WOW! My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at this property for 12 nights and what an experience it was. Everything was perfect and we still have a feeling of ZEN!

If you are considering another property, don't! You will never regret booking this vacation...

Tim and Iliahi were great hosts who are there to ensure your stay is everything you hoped for.

We are already planning our return for 2018!

Back to Nature!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this property for 7 days! Celebrating our Honeymoon, we couldn't have asked for more and were blown away by the Beach House. The property is equipped with everything you'll need to enjoy your time here. Relax, unwind, unplug and connect with your partner and see first hand what Hawaii is all about! The views are awe inspiring, the two Ocean "Lanai's" (Decks) look down on the Deep blue waves crashing on the shore while you can see Humpback Whales & Spinner dolphins passing by. The "Endless" (swim jet) pool was one of the highlights allowing us to have a swim day or night or just float around soaking in the sun!

The Teak outdoor furniture both on the up and downstairs "Lanai" allowed us to enjoy MANY different views of this Beautiful rugged coastline in comfort.

The quaint little town of Pahoa (about 12mins away) had a decent selection of restaurants considering the size of the town (5 Sit down restaurants, 2 Pizza places, Subway & Burger King) plus the local Grocery store kinda like a mini Safeway called "Malama Market" in case you just want to eat a home cooked meal. Tim & Ili were the most gracious hosts answering any question's we had and making sure everything was perfect, while ensuring our time here was both private and undisturbed.

There is lots of outdoor points of interest and beautiful places to explore while here. This is a don't miss kind of place.

I do feel the last review was not really fair to either the property or management, we didn't see nor did we experience anything like what was described in the previous review. The property was very clean, the Hammock and pool areas were mold free and very clean. Finally... we did not have to drive to Hilo to find a restaurant.

A Hui Ho! We will be back!

Beautiful setting, but property needs work

  • 3 of 5

My wife and I spent 15 days at the Kehena Beach house, and enjoyed our vacation immensely. It was wonderful to be right by the ocean, and the views and sounds of the waves were just what we were looking for when we planned this trip. The Kehena area is a little remote, and so there was quite a bit of driving involved to see the sights and get around. There are limited restaurant options in Pahoa, and so we ended up driving to Hilo a few times. If we were doing a long vacation again, we would probably split time between this area and the Kona coast.

Although we enjoyed the setting, the property itself did not meet our expectations. Nothing individually was that big a deal, but collectively mean that it was disappointing compared to other properties we have stayed at in Hawaii and elsewhere.

A few examples:

- Most of the outdoor furniture including the lounge chairs by the pool are uncomfortable, hard plastic

- The outdoor furniture was not clean, and pillows/cushions had black mold and couldn't be used.

- There is a "relaxing hammock" in the front yard, but not like the picture - it was too dirty to use.

- The lower deck and pool area has a substantial amount of black mold

- The landscape lighting (pictured on the site) and the motion sensor lights along the walkway don't work

- The picture windows, sliding doors, and screens were very dirty/filmy, as was the glass along the deck

- The kitchen appliances and some of the dishes were greasy, and there wasn't an ice maker as described

We did not bring up all of these issues to the property manager while we were there. All of these items are obvious, and they already knew about them and had chosen not to correct them before our arrival (for example, we arrived at night and the tour/demo had to be conducted by flashlight because the outdoor and landscape lighting didn't work, and it is really hard to miss the mold). We weren't interested in either a debate about the problems or in having our vacation interrupted for cleaning and maintenance work. It was our choice to clean things ourselves, work around it (buy ice!), or ignore it. The one issue we did bring up was addressed in the same day.

As I said at the beginning, we had a wonderful vacation at the Big Island. We had the quiet privacy we wanted and it was a very relaxing time. We would love to go back again, but would choose a different property next time. I hope that the owner will address these for other guests.

Owner's Response: Aloha Marshal, It is a bit harsh for you to be upset over plastic furniture, you saw the pics before you made your booking. We have both teak and plastic and so many places decks and lanais to choose from to sit and move furniture around. The environment we have on the coast with constant salt spray being so close to the Ocean + almost 60" rain yearly... not to mention winds. The windows & screens where cleaned, I inspected the property on the morning of your arrival. When you arrived 10 hours later a lot of humidity/salt spray could accumulate. You can't expect coastal properties to remain in a "sterile" condition. I could not find anywhere where we guarantee an Ice maker in the listing? It only has a new refrigerator, you also mention the motion sensor lights did not work when you guys came on property... they worked when I checked you in. I do not know about the dishes as I did not clean them. You cannot expect us to pull every dish out of the all cabinets and rewash all dishes after every guest... You could have mentioned ANY of these items to us while you here for 2 weeks, you never gave us a chance to address any of your concerns. We will address your concerns to our cleaning person regarding your concers. If mold is found our maintenance company will handle this as well, I feel I need to point out that acid rain stains can and do look like the black mold you were so concerned with. As for the "Pool area" the majority of concrete work is treated to give the effect of being on "Black volcanic lava". Again if you would have just voiced any one of your concerns, we could have put your fears to rest. My Kupuna had always taught me to give Aloha to those who visit our Island and hope they do the same in return. I gave you that and your wife when I first met you.......... Iliahi

Beautiful location and well appointed

  • 5 of 5

What an awesome location and home. It is exactly as describe, but until you stand on the balconies and look down over the cliff face into the sea, you really cannot appreciate just how close you are.

The pool / hot tub with swim jets was also great and got more use than we had expected over our stay. Literally, when we were on the property we used it morning noon at nite.

This was our first trip to this part of the Big Island and we will be back. Very relaxing yet plenty to do if you are so inclined.

Our hosts were extremely helpful and assisted in any way required. We highly recommend this property and will be back next year!

Beautiful sights and sound

  • 5 of 5

Our Hosts were unseen except for the 15 minute introduction, which is just what we wanted. This property is beautiful and well cared for. We would return for this house perched on the lava cliff.

If you'd like to know about the TV, ask. We didn't want to use it much and we could not figure it out. Just ask if it's something you like. The pool and spa are small and very enjoyable. The In-Place swimming machine worked great.

The nearby beach thrilled my partner and it was rough for me. The sunrise and the stars are worth every minute.

Highly Recommend!
