Owner / Property Manager purchased this condo in 1987
The Borrego Springs Rams Hill condo was perfect for the surroundings. It is light and open to the beauty of the desert just steps away. We especially appreciated the easy access to the patio with a gas grill. We expected to use the spa but it seemed too complicated with the instructions to test the water and we have no experience in that or how to treat it. Not a big problem. The unit came with a membership to La Casa De Zorro, a gorgeous upscale resort just a mile down the road. We had hot tubs and 2 pools to use that were never crowded. We had everything we needed in the condo along with good internet. We loved being outside of town in the quiet of this great community. As for Borrego Springs, this is our third time and our favorite desert location. The town has all of the things we want, restaurants, bars, art etc. and none of the stuff we don't want, casinos, water parks, chain restaurants etc.
The town was small and friendly. The front door was difficult to open sometimes.
Owners made prompt efforts to address issues, but deferred maintenance made some of the stay problematic. Make sure you have a flashlight if you arrive after dark. Condo complex walkway lights were out for the first 25 days and there are stairs and walkways to navigate. We had a roach problem so you might want to ask if pest control has been there before you arrive. Pool and exercise facility in the complex was permanently closed but owner was able to obtain access after 9 days to a resort about a mile away with great facilities. Just be aware that you have to leave Rams Hill and drive in order to use them. Front door never worked properly during a 30 day stay. Needs repair. Take some WD40 so you can get the sliding doors to work. This is an older complex, and fixtures and systems are just a bit tired. Usually quiet but lots of traffic outside as the access for all other Rams Hill areas goes directly behind the unit. This was our fourth time to Borrego and probably our last as some businesses and areas are looking shabby and run down.
Beautiful surroundings in a stunning, quiet, gated desert community. Easy access to hiking and biking in and around the largest State park in the country. We loved this well-appointed home!
The only downside is the fact that the HOA is obviously struggling having chosen to close the pool and tennis club. But the owners have accommodated this with access to the same amenities at a nearby resort. We liked it so much that we would have considered buying a unit in Las Casitas at Ram's Hill if we had seen evidence that the grand plans layed out by the developer were viable. Absolutely top notch vision that could have helped Borrego Springs become a retirement destination.
Note: this home has everything you need but "gourmet kitchen" sets expectations too high given the condition of the cookware.
Very well equipped casita. Wifi was excellent, TV with cable. Spa and BBQ made it a better experience. Light bulb on Master shower was not working, so we showered with candlelight.
The rental is clean and really nice. It has a nice view of the desert. We wanted to relax and it was a quiet place to relax and enjoy the weekend. Almost everything we needed was available in the cabin. I loved the hot tub at night!
