I live in San Francisco, California, and love to visit the Big Island when I can. This home was built by my brother, also the manager of the property for his family in 2007.
Adam Jacobstein purchased this house in 2007
Hale Apapane was built by Adam Jacobstein, the owner's brother, and was his family's home for 6 years before they moved off of Hawaii Island. It has been very carefully designed to take advantage of the surrounding landscape, with large windows, and enough room for a big group to feel together in the open living space, but still have separate areas upstairs. The furniture is all high quality and it was decorated with a purpose in mind.
The house is large and open inside. It has special artwork from local artists and photographers. It hace hot tub, a swing in the yard, and a large covered carport for playing basketball or hanging out.
Thought the house was gorgeous and I was really thrilled with Adam's willingness to work with us on our specific needs. We were too exhausted following a day of hiking to enjoy the hot tub, but everything was as described. My only suggestions for improvement would be to upgrade the bath towels to something larger and more absorbent, but certainly not a big deal. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
Beautiful house in a lovely setting. Clean, well equipped. Great location to visit volcano national park.
My wife and our 2 youngest children ( 10 and 15) stayed for 3 nights upon arrival to Hawaii from Texas to ease the jet lag transition, enjoy the cool climate and leisurely explore the VNP. Hale Appapane worked perfectly on all counts.
House was clean. Pictures on VRBO were representative. Maintenance team was responsive in helping with a deflated basketball disaster.
We had morning fires in the fire place which was well stocked with fire wood.Great stay. Zero complaints.
Excellent choice for the Volcano area.
After spending a week in Honolulu, this was the perfect relaxing getaway for our final week in Hawaii.
Located just outside the national park this place has everything a family needs to explore big island.
Driving in is an adventure in itself, these aren't regular town streets, rather each house is separated by jungle making it feel like you are in the middle of nowhere.
The cupboards are all stocked with towels and snorkelling supplies, the coffee machine has beans and the hot tup is ready from the day you arrive.
This is a beautiful house which the owner obviously lovingly maintains. We didn't want to leave.
Our family of 5 adults thoroughly loved our stayed in this lovely home. Great communication with owner/manager on location and entry. There was a minor issue with hot water which he addressed immediately. The pictures accurately depict the beautiful wood in this house. We would encourage anyone to stay here!
I traveled with my mother, aunt, and cousin on their first trip to Hawaii. This home was exactly as described with beautiful woodwork throughout. This home obviously has received much care from the owner. During our stay it rained nonstop (which I understand is normal for Volcano) and unfortunately the hot tub at the house was not working. We weren't really cold; everything just felt damp. Our first night there was no kindling or matches to start a fire. Although Michael came by the next morning and chopped kindling, brought us a lighter and gave us a lesson in starting the stove, we unfortunately failed miserably at Fire Starting 101. We loved that Volcano Natl Park was right there. Previously I had only taken day trips to the Park, but because we were so close, we were able to go and watch the glow from the crater at night. Awesome. I would definitely recommend this home to other travelers. The house is comfortable and well equipped and the location is beautiful.
We are located one mile from Volcanoes National Park and . 5 miles from charming Volcano Village. Restaurants, art galleries, and a farmer's market are all nearby.
