AMAZING! An overused term, but SO appropriate when describing the location of this brownstone apartment location. Forget Lincoln Park and Wrigleyville...too far north. Enjoy the Chicago neighborhood feel while being literally right around the corner from all you want to go to Chicago for. Walk, walk, walk.

Mark and Ashley are a husband and wife team that have one foot planted firmly in Chicago. As a former Chicago resident for 10 years, Ashley has both friends and family in Chicago. We have twins who love to visit their home in Chicago! They both know that Dad's favorite building is the Hancock.
The Owner purchased this apartment in 2008
There is only one Gold Coast in Chicago and this historical building is in the heart of it. Our endeavor started out with simply wanting a place to stay when we would visit and eventually use in retirement. We love Chicago and all the City has to offer...from great food, to world class shopping, to museums, architecture, sports, beaches...you name it and Chicago has it all.
The location cannot be beat. Chicago's epicenter for nightlife is at the end of the block with fabulous restaurants like Gibson's, Tavern On Rush, Morton's, etc. coming together in a perfect triangular parklike setting. If you want to feel like a true Chicago resident in one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Chicago, this is the place. The tree-lined street is a perfect prelude to your arrival at this historical building. Shopping on Michigan Avenue is just a block away as well. It's an AMAZING location!
Stayed here for 4 short days end of September 2010. This has the location, location, location, a few short blocks to the mag mile. We didn't take a cab anywhere, and always had this little safe haven to return to, and view our purchases, or sleep off some pizza, etc.. Everything the listing describes is correct is, including the photos, the location, etc. I would recommend this vrbo to anyone, have, and and will.
If I had been with my wife, she would have had a fit at the sight of hair on vanity surface and in the sink. Likewise, the hair trap in the tub was clogged with so much hair the tub wouldn't initially drain; needs a better cleaning service; otherwise, quiet, comfortable and in close proximity to all amenities. Some of the furniture was problematic; loose legs on chairs because nuts on carrige bolts were loose. Needs some TLC from the owners in this regard.
This brownstone property was perfect for our getaway to Chicago. The apartment was beautiful and comfortable. The location, just a few blocks from the Magnificent Mile, could not have been better. One of the advantages of renting this wonderful place is the opportunity it offers for a quick return to "chill" or catch a televised game with all the comforts of home. We enjoyed walking or "ubering" with ease. This was a girls trip and all of us thoroughly enjoyed Chicago. The pizza at Lou Milatis (just down the block) was outstanding. We also ate a delicious seafood dinner at Hugo's Frog Seafood Bar, also, just a block or two away. Don't miss the Shedd aquarium, the Field museum or the "First Lady" architecture river cruise. And if you can get tickets, Hamilton is worth every penny!
This will be my choice to stay when I return to Chicago.
This was our first time staying in the Gold Coast and the convenience plus pleasant neighborhood are the essential features of this property. The Bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and TV room are all fine for a beach/city vacation but it's really not for 4 paying adults per suite (8 total across two units). The air mattresses leaked but our young adult children were only with us for a few days so they survived. It's really 3 adults per unit max (two actually paying) maybe 4 with kids.
We took our graduating 22 year old son and his cousin to Chi-town.
We had previously stayed in the lower unit & loved the location and local feel of this charming street.
Unfortunately we had no working hot water in one shower, the ancient front door handle came off in our hands, and unlike the lower unit, there was no washer/dryer.
The units are updated but small and dark.
If you like the "old" feel of 19th Century brownstones, this is the place
Our group (5 people) had units 2 and 3 for 5 nights. The units are big and very comfortable. The location can't be beat. Oak Street Beach is 1/2 block away and there are lots of great restaurants 1/2 block the other way. We had an excellent dinner at Carmines and at Tavern on Rush. Would definitely stay here again.
