My wife and I have been fortunate in our life together to travel the world both on business and for personal pleasure. Even when we lived and work in far away places, coming home to San Francisco is always the best part of our trips. We love the City and look forward to sharing our comfortable home with other travelers.
BJ purchased this townhome in 1997
Who doesn't love San Francisco .... We have been fortunate enough to live in this unique home for the past 14 years and we love being in the center of the San Francisco experience. We enjoy entertaining our friends and family who enjoy visiting our home; something they have done since they watched us get married in our home's charming backyard garden. Each have their favorite neighborhood restaurants and shops, walks and runs, galleries and museums. And sharing the City with them is more than one could ask for!
So close in proximity, we absolutely love jogging on the path at Chrissy Field, taking in the beauty and serenity at the beach while often spending time with our grandchildren kite flying on Marina Green.
There's something for everyone right in our neighborhood.... including the City's best pizza, the freshest and authentic sushi, tapas, corner grocery stores and the original Swensons Ice Cream Shop that has been in the neighborhood for 60 years-- all within one block of our family home. Good thing we have a few stairs up to the house to stay in shape.
What can I say...all of the previous reviews are spot on. We went to San Fransisco for our son's 30th birthday. We were seven adults.
BJ and Larry, our most gracious hosts, have set a high standard for all other VRBO hosts. This is our first experience with VRBO so we were unsure what to expect. Any concerns were immediately put to rest with the first emails. BJ was quite helpful and knowledgeable prior to our arrival answering all questions, even recommending a bakery for a birthday cake. Upon arrival we were greated with warmth and felt we were staying at a friends home. As mentioned previously they prepared a spread of snacks and presented a notebook of how to operate everything in the home, trolley routes and restaraunt recommendations which proved to be a great help.
I am a bit of a germaphobe and this place is SPOTLESS.
Location - Perfect...easy to get to most places you want to visit.
The pictures of the place do not do it justice...and YES, the Golden Gate Bridge is really right there, even better than the photo shows.
Thank you for a wonderful experience BJ and Larry
We rented this property in July 2016, and had a great experience. Not much new to add beyond the basics already covered in other reviews: perfect location, hospitable/gracious owners and gorgeous views. We did have a car, and were able to use the reserved parking spot in the underground garage. What a blessing not to have to search for parking in the urban core of SF. This is the ideal location for anyone looking to be in the heart of SF, and close to all the best neighborhoods. By the way, for those with a sweet tooth, the original Swenson's Ice Cream location is just around the corner. Highly recommend!
This location puts you within walking distance of many interest sights and neighborhoods in SF including Chinatown and North Beach to the east, the Wharf and Alcatraz to the north, and the Marina and Golden Gate Bridge to the west. The house is near the crest of Russian Hill and you can see a lot of SF from the deck and the street intersections near the house. Aside from the location, the house is beautiful and the rooftop deck was a perfect place to relax and enjoy watching the fog roll over the Golden Gate Bridge at then end of the day. Larry and BJ are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet and they made us all feel very welcome by putting out snacks on our day of arrival and stocking the fridge with other goodies. I'm a SF resident myself (hosting visitors to SF on their first trip here) and I really can't think of a better location to stay to see a lot of SF in a short time.
'We stayed with a group of colleagues in this Russian hill house and absolutely loved it. The owners were helpful and made us feel welcome to their house. The house was clean and the rooms were large. The rooftop patio was absolutely marvelous with breathtaking views to Golden Gate bridge and the bay. The area was peaceful with many good restaurants and easy to get around with the cable car which stopped right in the corner of the street. '
i stayed here with my family (6 adults) and our 16 month old for about a week. The home is beautiful, spacious and very comfortable. The bonus was that we were met by the owners, who are incredibly kind, and a spread of yummy snacks and wine and a fridge stocked full of treats. It makes all the difference, especially when traveling with a toddler - it's not so easy to run to the store. The view from the roof deck is breathtaking. Photos simply can't capture it. The home is situated close to several attractions. Note that the hills in this area are quite steep. I had a little trouble with the baby because cabs and ubers don't have car seats (yet) and to walk the hills home was a bit tiring (in part because I'm pregnant). But we got our exercise in and managed just fine. Loved the home and the very accommodating owners and definitely recommend this to others.
After a full day of travel and not arriving until midnight, it was great to find our accommodations to be exactly as advertised, clean and most welcoming. We were three generations with an age range between 14 and 76 who wanted to see and do everything San Francisco had to offer. The neighborhood was safe, close to transportation and a short walk in every direction to many sites. This was our first time using VRBO, it went smoothly and we would surely try it again. Thank you to the property owners for letting us borrow their beautiful home. Also for going the extra mile to return a very special family momento that was left behind!
Walk to Fisherman's Wharf and catch the ferry to take a tour of Alcatraz. Walk to the historic Ferry Building and take the Oakland Ferry to famous Jack London Square where you can have a BBQ dinner at EJ's (live music) or go to Yoshi's for Sushi and live Jazz. Go to a Giants' Game at the beautiful AT&T Park.
