About Betty Lou Bowles

My favorite thing to do is watch the sunrise, and moon rise, from a rocker on the porch.

Betty Lou Bowles purchased this cottage in 1908

Why Betty Lou Bowles chose Niantic

This house has been in my family for three generations and I look forward to passing it along to my own children someday. In the meantime, we'd like you to make your own memories here at my family's cottage.

What makes this cottage unique

Lovely sunsets and sunrises - if you're an early bird - walking distance to town - ice cream, movie theater, etc and a half block to the beach and the snack bar. And we're on a regular route for the ice cream truck. what's not to love!

Cute little cottage right by the beach!

  • 4 of 5

The cottage has a great view! It is a bit older however, and the attic is very cold in the off season and has no heater. The stairs are somewhat steep and not small child friendly. The pictures are accurate. Cleanliness I give a 3/5, I had to wipe out crumbs from the fridge and we moved a small side table in the living room and found lots of dust/the floor had not been mopped under in quite some time. Lots of sleeping spaces however and reasonable price.

A wonderful vacation cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a large family get-together for my daughter's graduation. We were three generations with little and young children. We found the cottage very well furnished and its location very convenient. It is right next to the beach and the wraparound porch facing the ocean provides wonderful views. We recommend it very strongly. We would definitely love to stay here again.

Loved the cottage! The porch is wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of renting the cottage over Memorial Day weekend while in town for a baseball tournament. Twelve of us between the ages of 10 and 74 all fit comfortably and the cottage was so much better than a hotel. It had everything we needed and the view from the porch is fantastic. It's not fancy, but it was perfect!

Lovely off-season stay at the Fairmont!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had a wonderful time at the Fairmont at the end of March. Betty Lou was a gracious and kind host, meeting us with the heat ready and the kettle on after a long drive. The house was clean, spacious, and perfectly located for a walk to four beaches! The owners keep it well stocked with necessities such as shampoo, tea, and detergent. The bed was very comfortable and water pressure great- which are always keys for me. We would definitely stay here again.

2014 Coast Guard Graduation

  • 5 of 5

We rented the Fairmont for our family (10 people) for our daughters graduation. The view was fantastic and most of our time was spent enjoying it! Rustic yes, but a perfect New England Beach House. We enjoyed our stay and would return and recommend it for 2015 graduation week. 15 min drive to the Academy and 12 min drive to the popular Hawks Nest beach. Cant beat the price compared to other locations!

Great for a family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We rented this property for our 1st family vacation in 15 years, with ages ranging from 6 months to 59 years. We spent many hours on the porch and the location directly across from the beach was wonderful. Our kids loved the bath house. The home has plenty of room and was well stocked with linens, dishes, pots and pans, and even beach chairs. The kitchen table was large enough for all of us to have dinner and play games.

Niantic is a friendly little community with close access to a variety of activities. Our little ones were in awe of the ride on the Essex Steam Train. The Book Barn is a must, as is a trip to Block Island!!

We can't wait to go back!!
