We used to live in this house and love the experience of living in a local neighborhood in a house rather than a high rise apartment. The house was originally built in 1965 but we completely remodelled it inside and out. new roof, plumbing, wiring, walls, appliances etc.
Have a unique experience by living in a peaceful, safe Japanese neighbourhood yet be only a few minutes from the main JR Yamanote train line and the Tokyo metro. Easy and quick, direct airport access in under 1 hour.
The most reasonable rates at the most convenient location.
This area is where history has been preserved and the modern thrives so you get the best Tokyo has to offer.
This location offers it all. The accommodation is a house not an apartment.

We had a great week at Tokhouse. It was wonderful living in the local community and being so close to their everyday life. I think staying in a big hotel would be quite restrictive of ones experience of life in Tokyo. Great amenities in the flat, great food nearby both fresh, take away and local eating places.
We stayed in apartments 102 and 201 for 4 days in October 2016.
Tokhouse is about a 5-minute walk from Nishi-Nippori station on the Yamanote line which makes it really easy to visit the rest of Tokyo cheaply and easily.
John met us at the station was extremely helpful showing us around and explaining everything, from the inside of the apartments to the best local shops and restaurants (which are generally excellent!) and how to get to all the obvious tourist attractions.
The apartments themselves are small but well laid out, the beds are the standard Japanese style and very comfortable. The location is tucked away off the main road so it's super-quiet which is just what you need after a day's sightseeing.
A perfect place to stay in Tokyo, this house is located in a quiet neighbourhood, not far from the lively Yanaka Ginza and the Yamanote line. Several restaurants and supermarkets are conveniently close. We stayed there for five days and enjoyed it very much, both Richard, the owner, and John, the manager, have been very helpful.
I had the privilege of staying in two of the apartments that Tokhouse offer. Both were very comfortable in size and amenities, and truly provided the chance to feel home away from home. I stayed at Tokhouse at the end of a long solo voyage around Japan and it was the perfect oasis to come home to after a long day exploring bustling Tokyo. I had the chance to cook for myself, which after three weeks of meals out was a welcome change. Nishi Nippori is such a peaceful neighborhood so close to the wonders of Ueno and surrounds - perfectly located to enjoy Tokyo as well as find some peace and quiet.
I was greeted at the station and was given a sweeping tour of the neighbourhood on our walk to the apartment, including some tips on where to find vego friendly fare. I was provided with some maps and a thorough explanation of them as well as an overview of where to find what in Tokyo city and a few of Tokhouse's favourite haunts.
The service from beginning to end has been impeccable and the amount of care taken to make customers feel at ease and at home was truly appreciated. I highly recommend Tokhouse and their services and would definitely stay with them again, given the chance.
In planning our first family trip to Japan, it was evident earlier on that finding a comfortable, affordable and convenient accommodation for a family of 5 in Tokyo was going to be a challenge. Fortunately, we found the Tokhouse which seemed to tick all the boxes in what we were looking for. We stayed at Tokhouse for 6 nights and it proved to be perfect for what we needed. Although the top floor "attic" bedroom was a little small for my wife and I, we were all able to sleep together comfortably in the 2nd floor bedroom on the futon mats. The lower level kitchen and dining area was handy too, however we didn't really need to use it as the surrounding bars and restaurants were excellent and just a walk away. Probably the most appealing aspect of Tokhouse is it's fantastic location. The nearby Nishi Nappori train station is on the JR line so we were able to use our national rain pass to access all the sites around Tokyo. And I should not forget to mention the added bonus of having our hosts John and Richard close by to help direct and inform us of anything we needed to know. A great family apartment.
It's a good apartment near ueno park, good restaurants near the house. We recommend it.
Great place to stay. Clean and everything available against a fair price. Good working facilities (shower, airco, kitchen etc). Subway 5 minutes walk to the JR Yamanote Line we have used often. Nice neighborhood as well: quite and all kind of shops on walking distance.
Tokhouse is conveniently located to all the city has to offer. Only a five-minute walk to the JR Nishi-Nippori station which includes the JR Yamanote train, JR Keihin Tohoku train, the Tokyo Chiyoda Metro and the Nippori-Toneri Liner.
Both Haneda and Narita international airports can be reached in less than 1 hour.
If you are taking the Shinkansen bullet train to go North you can catch it at Ueno station a 6-minute train ride. If you are going South you can catch it at Tokyo station a 12-minute train ride from Tokhouse Tokyo Vacation House.

Set in one of the most upscale neighborhoods in Tokyo, the residential neighborhood of the Bunkyo Ward. The area is full of history and tradition unlike some of the more overdeveloped areas of the city where the charm has made way for the bulldozers.
