On a tree lined quiet street, with excellent walk-ability to bars, lake and restaurants, this Cottage is the perfect place to be in Austin. With two bedrooms, a full kitchen and a yard to relax in, this is the best vacation getaway right in the heart of the hippest neighborhood Austin has to offer.
Built in 1926, and completely remodeled, it offers historic quality and modern conveniences. The home has automated entry, which means there are no keys. So you won't have to pick up a key - you can just enter with your unique code.
This property also has a private backyard. The yard is outfitted with a charcoal grill, and table with an umbrella so you can enjoy the sun or the shade.
Don't miss a thing on your streaming account, because the cottage has wireless internet and a smart TV that has quick buttons to Netflix and Amazon.
You'll even find a wireless printer to print boarding passes that you can access from your phone or tablet.
This cottage instantly welcomes you with wine, snacks and essentials. The kitchen is fully stocked with dining ware, pots pans, wine glasses, bottle openers and an array of chargers, just in case you left yours behind.
We try to think of everything you might need to make your stay comfortable so you can just enjoy everything Austin has to offer.
We love Austin, and want to share it with others. We are originally from California, and enjoy the little-big town of Austin. It has lots of activities and enough culture to keep even the most experienced traveler's interest.
We enjoy traveling to great cities like Paris, Milan and New York. But we also enjoy the quaint charms of small walkable towns such as Italy's the Cinque Terra, and Portugal's Sintra.
We appreciate modern and historic architecture, and this little gem of a cottage has both. It's got good structure with modern features. Every year we try to improve upon it.
It has the best location for walking to dinner, or taking a long walk around the lake.
Last year we rode bikes to the Austin City Limits (ACL) Festival. It was great to just peddle up to the event and not worry about parking.
We hope our visitors enjoy this perfect little cottage as much as we do.
Chris Aguero purchased this cottage in 2012
The location of this property is perfectly situated between the city and the lake in a hip and upcoming area of Austin. Great walk-ability to bars, restaurants and shops.
The closest bars and restaurants are on Rainey Street which is fast becoming the best spot to party like a local. Rainey is a quaint street where the houses have been renovated into cool bars and great foods. There is even trailer food area with lots of choices. Parking is crazy on Rainey Street, so most people who stay at the cottage just walk there. The walk is less than a 1/2 mile (.4 to be exact), and is worth it to miss the parking fees for most people.
With a car, the entire Austin area is free to explore, including the hill country, the worlds best BBQ, and great outlet shopping.
While this house boasts all the comforts of home, it is the location that made us grab it the first day it came on the market. The house is in impeccable condition, retaining its rich history, while feeling modern and clean.
The home has modern touches, like automatic keyless doors, smartTV, charging ports in the bedrooms, and a wireless printer.
We stock the Kitchen with snacks and treats to welcome guests and make them feel at home. There's coffee, tea and creamers to start the day perfectly. In the frig, you'll usually find farm fresh eggs, butter and almond milk .
The Kitchen is fully functional as it is beautiful. With granite counter tops, ample storage and double stainless steel sink, it has everything you will need, including microwave, gas stove, oven, and even a washer/dryer.
If you enjoy cooking you will find the kitchen is fully outfitted. There are copper-bottomed pans, spices, olive oil, and serving dishes. If you are a take-away foodie like me, you will find plates, dining ware, and wine glasses to make your meal special.
The best part of this place is its location. A nice walk to the lake and the best bars in Austin. The home even has parking off street for up to 3 vehicles, and usually some on-street parking as well.
Nice 2 bedroom cottage with room for a person on a fold down couch. Close to the action of downtown, quiet neighborhood, attractive interior. Would stay here again.
Was comfortable and my husband and I would stay here again.
The location is in a quiet neighborhood that allowed for peaceful easy sleep at the end of a long day. Everything we needed for our long weekend MotoGP stay was provided. While small, 64 Cross Street was comfortable, quiet and located within walking distance to Austin's music scene. Uber arrived at the house within minutes the times we summoned them. The shower was spectacular with plenty of hot water to go around. The bed.....oh, the bed, was amazing. We enjoyed sitting on the back patio area in the evening as we observed the evening wildlife. Chris made arrival as easy as it gets. If you want comfortable, quite and a good location, this is it.

We are so glad we rented the house from Chris. It was cute, clean, well equipped with the little things. The kitchen and bathroom were roomy and great. Nice bedrooms with comfy beds. The back yard was nice with beautiful trees and so many birds we'd never seen. It was located in the perfect place for us near downtown and close to almost everywhere we went during our stay. It was also close to the freeway, which was convenient. It was so easy to use and just plain comfortable. I would highly recommend this house. Perfect size for us with our two adult children.
Thank you Chris!
It really was the perfect location to enjoy all the night life and amazing music that Austin has to offer. A few blocks from tacos, groceries, and excellent coffee. Easy access to running trails. And convenient to walk back to late at night after seeing show on Rainey, 6th Ave or Red River. Comfortably appointed with quality beds and towels. Thank you for offering it up for rent.
Apart from the rather small living and dining areas, which you will only need if you want to stay and eat indoors much, the house is perfect. There's enough sleeping space and the terrace compensates for the small living area, in good weather conditions at least. The house is only 5mn walk to Rainey street and yet is very quite. The keyless entry door is very practical. Hats off to the owners who thought of every little detail, even a torch and an umbrella!
We came down for our first time to Austin all the way from Nelson, British Columbia, Canada and stayed at
the Cross St Cottage for 8 nights. It was close to the Ladybird Lake/Colorado River trails (that are great),
really close to Rainey St. and many other cool spots for nightlife and food (Eastside 6th St had some cool bands).
The neighbourhood looks like it has gone through a transformation and has a lot of character and we felt pretty safe the whole time. We were able to keep our car parked most of the trip and travel by foot to so many awesome places during our stay (80 degrees in January!!) The house had everything you needed including very comfortable beds and a nice front porch to sit a drink a coffee in the morning in the sun and was kept in very clean shape. My only recommendation would be to have some bikes to use at the cottage that could be locked up. We rented some from an Airstream nearby on Cesar Chavez (walking distance) called Streamline Cycles that had excellent bikes and great staff ($25.00 for the whole afternoon). The city was so easy and awesome to navigate on a bike and I highly recommend taking advantage of this. Other highlights of our trip were; The HUGE Whole Foods store down on Lamar St. right near the river trail, Zilker Park and the Barton Springs area, Barton Creek Greenbelt Rock Climbing right in the city and Reimer's Ranch 40 minutes west of Austin (a great park with rock climbing, biking and hiking and sight seeing). Thanks Austin and to the amazing place we had to stay and enjoy it... We will be back :)
Austin offers visitors a full array activities. The cottage is walking distance to Austin's central waterway, Lady Bird Lake, which makes this location the perfect place for both enjoying city conveniences and the great outdoors. Less than a half a mile from the lake and from Rainey Street this home is the sweet spot for enjoying Austin. On Rainey street you can find bars, restaurants, pedicabs and Austin's bcycle bike rentals..
A little further away, and you will find the all the treats of South Congress St. and the hum of historic 6th Street.
The neighborhood is fast becoming the new favorite for its laid back style and awesome eateries. The East side is where you will find both sleek Modern homes, and fun classic cottages, like this one that sports its mail box in a tree.
With to-the-minute styles at clothiers like Maga and Solid Gold and hair salons like Hearts and Robots you will soon blend in. All food choices are available, from elegant dining like Buenos Aries Cafe and Qui, or hole in the wall classics like Sputnik burgers, to an array food trailers, its all available in the area.
With plenty of parking and even a BBQ, you can stay in and enjoy the fresh style of the cottage, with cable and internet TV available.
