About Patty Squires

Owner lives in detached house on premises.

This is such a beautiful area where my children and I did a lot of camping when they were small. One of my sons settled here after going to UNCA where he met his wife.

He found this property for me, and I bought it just from seeing the photos. There was a small house and two out buildings that he completely rebuilt, and since I love making a warm and welcoming home I decided to rent the 2 out buildings for weekend vacationers.

Patty Squires purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Patty Squires chose Asheville Area

Property is in a very unique area with a mountain stream, natural pond nestled in a secluded forest, yet minutes away from thriving downtown Asheville and Biltmore Estate.

A dock over the pond, deck surrounding the cabin, and fireside seats and benches provide quaint comfort to enjoy the views and bask in the beauty of the inspiring Blue Ridge Mountains. There is so much tranquility here and yet you are only minutes from downtown Asheville.

What makes this cottage unique

I knew I had made the right decision to retire here from the first time I stepped onto the property. It just felt like the home I had always dreamed of.

Mountain real treat retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We were delighted with our stay in the Cozy Cottage. It was comfortable, well appointed and so charming. We were close enough to town to make the trips in about and around easy, yet far enough up onto the mountainside to make us feel like we were really in another world. We were both so happy that we had searched for something like this rather than just reserve a room at one of the hotels we "knew". Patty had a basket full of brochures with local sites and a list of recommended restaurants as well. We referred to this to help plan one of our days with no disappointments. Can't miss with this host and location.

Perfect Location & very clean

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here in late October. The trees were beautiful this time of year. Patty was very responsive both before and after our arrival. We met Buddy (her dog), he was very kind and mostly kept to himself. The cottage was very clean had all the amenities that we needed. In particular, it has wifi access, tv, towels, linens cups and plates. Really we didn't need to bring anything that we wouldn't need to bring to a hotel. So that made it really easy. It was about a 15 minute ride to downtown on a Friday morning. There wasn't much traffic but even with the traffic it was an easy ride. We often parked at the garage (12 Rankin Ave) it was $1 per hour with the first hour free. It was also about a 15 minute drive to the Biltmore Estate and 5 minute drive to one of the entrances to the Blue Ridge Parkway (maybe 20 minutes or less to the first visitor center). One thing to note when arriving is that the street ends and it is a long gravel driveway up to the cottages (there are two near each other both owned by Patty). The gravel road splits right and left. When it is dark out, you might miss the sign...but stay to the right, it leads right up to Patty's home and the two cottages. My wife and I had an amazing time and a wonderful place to say.

We had a great stay in the Cozy Cabin! We will stay there again on our next trip to Asheville. The place is neat, clean, and comfortable. Very easy access to downtown. The only negative is that we didn't get to stay long enough to take in what Asheville has to offer!

Peaceful and quiet

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here in early August. Patty was very friendly and accommodating and Buddy (the dog) was a pleasure. The cottage is immaculate and had everything that we needed. This is very close to downtown Asheville (about 15 minutes) and a $14 Uber ride as well as being right off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. We didn't have to hear the city noise or deal with the traffic if we didn't want to. There is a lovely view of the pond on the property with a deck and chairs both at our door and at the pond. We can't wait to go back!

want to go back!!

It was even better than we anticipated. Spotlessly clean...inside and out. Wish we could have stayed longer! We were so close to "civilization", but had no sense of being near anything when in the cabin.
