|Minimum Stay||2 - 3 nights|
This house has been in my family for 4 generations. It used to be the Belle Ayre Post Office and later, the Town Clerk's office. Surrounded by thousands of acres of Catskill Park, Belle Ayre House is the perfect escape! A large wrap-around porch greets you as you arrive-perfect for watching sunsets or a summer rain. Inside, the dining room with fireplace is just the spot for cozy dinners. The modern kitchen has everything needed for preparing meals. 3 beautifully decorated bedrooms upstairs let you sleep in peace and quiet, hearing only the sound of the stream in summer. 2 large bathrooms: one with vintage clawfoot tub and radiant heat in the floor; the other has a large walk-in shower. Plenty of cozy nooks to sit and read or take a nap. Full size washer & dryer in laundry room. Outside, a bonfire pit behind the house is perfect for roasting marshmallows and telling campfire stories. Enjoy strolls up or down the road. Lots of wildlife and beauty to be seen. Just up the road (3 miles) is the trailhead to the Balsam Mountain Fire Tower. This is not to be missed in any season! 360 degree views from the top of the tower! Belleayre Ski Center is a 15 minute drive. Grocery store and restaurants are all 15 minutes away as well. We look forward to your stay at Belle Ayre House!
A very warm, cozy home that is both well furnished and accommodating to all types. We loved the dining room fireplace, the clean and updated kitchen, and the comfy bedrooms during our three night winter stay. Would definitely recommend to anyone wishing to stay somewhere far from the bustle of a main road and traffic noise, but still reasonably close to hiking trails, ski resorts, and key amenities.
Stayed for a week in November. Weather was cold and snowy but the house was warm and comfortable. Arrived to find a Strawberry Rhubarb Pie and fresh coffee beans waiting for us on the stone counter top surrounding the new stainless steel gas range. Stainless steel refrigerator was clean and new. The kitchen was well equipped. We cooked a roast beef dinner and had all the utensils required. Washer dryer was great to dry our wet clothes. Beds we very comfortable. Bathrooms were clean with plenty of towels and wash cloths provided. We never ran out of hot water even with 5 people showering. We hiked in the Balsam Mountain Wild Forest on well marked hiking/cross country ski trails right down the road. The gas fireplace provided additional warmth, ambiance and dried our wet boots. This would be a great place for three couples to enjoy biking, hiking or skiing. You can count the number of cars that pass by the house each day on one hand. Saw deer and turkeys out the back windows of the house. Kim Rivera, property manager and Wendy were delightful and attentive. Both were always available by phone or text message to help with any questions. You won't be disappointed in this rental.
House was very clean and offered everything one could need for a Catskills getaway. Owner and caretakers were very responsive and helpful. Absolutely no complaints :)
Belle Ayre House is lovely. Just the right size for our family of 4, plus a grandmother. Tastefully decorated, and a great balance of farmhouse charm with modern amenities. The weekend was quite cold (-10 F), but the house was well insulated and always warm (we've rented some homes where you cannot escape the antique drafty windows).
Our children were very happy in the room above the garage, enjoying the toys and games. The adults were content sitting by the fire or watching a movie.
Wendy, the owner was responsive during the booking process. Not surprisingly, there was a frozen pipe during our stay, and the property managers addressed the situation the same day.
We would definitely rent again.
If you are craving a relaxing get away from crowds and the big city, this renovated farmhouse is perfect. It is secluded and picturesque and the home is decorated in a perfect balance of rustic with modern touches- great kitchen & the bathrooms are beautiful! There are great little historic touches throughout the house (photos, old books). The upstairs attic was a pleasant surprise- the photos don't capture what a cozy inviting room this is and the kids went crazy over their own "special room" with tons of toys to keep them busy. We came for a long ski weekend and the house is situated close to Belleayre (nearby Peekamoose restaurant is a must). No cell service or cable but wifi keeps you in the loop if you need to be. Wendy and her great property managers are ridiculously accommodating- your comfort during your stay is important to them and it really makes a difference in the overall feeling you get while staying at Belleayre house. I am hoping to visit during the warmer months !
We very much enjoyed our trip and the great house. The house is clean and well maintained. There are two cozy bedrooms at the upper level and a large sleeping loft which worked perfectly for the kids. When we arrived the house was already warmed up, there was local coffee beans stored in the refrigerator and a christmas tree was waiting for us in the living room.
On the way to Margaretville we found a perfect trail that was easily accessible for the kids. We went skiing at Belleayre Ski Center and swimming at an indoor pool in Arkville.
We had a great time and would definitely rent the house again.
Pakatakan Farmers' Market May-October, Belleayre Ski Center, Delaware & Ulster Rail Ride, boating, swimming, TONS of hiking trails within just a few miles of the house!!!
