Our family of 5 lives to travel and we all love the beach. We really enjoy all of the amenities that Barrier Dunes has to offer.
Owner purchased this Townhome in 2011
Why Owner chose Port St. Joe
Cape San Blas is a wonderful vacation destination that is not touristy. There are miles of beautiful white beaches and none of the crowds and highrises that you find in Destin, Panama City Beach or Gulf Shores. It is a great place to get away and truly relax.
What makes this Townhome unique
Our townhouse is one of the newest in Barrier Dunes and is just steps away from the gulf front pool and beach. It is newly remodeled and has all new appliances and furnishings. We have a 40 inch plasma TV as well as TV's and DVD players in both bedrooms.

We had to find dog friendly lodging for 2 1/2 months on 2 weeks notice. Our usual rental in TX still had Hurricane Harvy damage. On arrival we found a non working grill, non working TVs & a very loose upper floor balcony railing among other repairable issues. Unit should have had a more thorough cleaning. Contacted the owner. He was personable & with a handyman
made repairs. Before renting again, the carpet should be cleaned, sliding glass doors should have working screens, and a new couch purchased, which the owner plans on doing. The complex has a neighborhood feel & adjoins a paved path for biking or walking. The easily walked to beach is dog friendly, clean, BEAUTIFUL & good for walking. Tradin' Post 4 mi away is well stocked. Pt St Joe 1/2 hr away. Panama City over an hr away is closest movie/mall. Apalachicola 30 mi away is a cool town. Overall, many things that required immediate attention inconvenienced us. For the rent charged we feel these problems should have been taken care of before occupancy. After the remaining issues are resolved we would have no reservations in recommending this property.
The townhouse needs a lot of TLC. Not enough outdoor furniture.
Guest bedroom balcony was dangerous (loose railing). No plastic cups in kitchen. Only half a roll of toilet paper in each bathroom. Lacking supplies in kitchen also. Wasn't very impressed.
My dogs and I love Cape San Blas especially in the fall and winter.
Barrier Dunes is a great place to stay. The owner was great to work with, and the property is well stocked.
Loving staying in barrier dunes
Second year staying here and we love it.
Great Week on the Beach
We stayed a week at this condo in Barrier Dunes at Cape San Blas, FL. We highly enjoyed it and would love to stay here again! The condo was a good size for 2 couples - my wife and I and our 1-year old took the master suite, and my in-laws had the guest bedroom. The master suite was large and comfortable, and the guest bedroom was smaller but perfect for the in-laws. The unit was well furnished, the kitchen had everything we needed and the furniture was comfy. One piece of advice for those with small children: bring baby-gates for the stairs (at least 2 of them to baby-proof both stairwells). The cable tv was nice but the internet had good and bad days. We bought groceries at the grocery store in Port St. Joe and we cooked nearly every meal in the condo – it saved $ but we mainly did it for convenience, as we didn’t want to leave the beach. We wished the deck(s) had more than 2 chairs, and the deck table was damaged. The complex was gated and nicely landscaped, busy but not crowded. The 2 pools on the property were good sized and provided a nice break from the beach. This unit was not beachfront, but basically the next row over from beachfront. It was a very short walk to the beach and to the main pool and clubhouse. The beach was beautiful, one of the nicest I’ve seen - white sand, clear water (depending on the weather), and sea shells everywhere. At night, people build campfires on the beach and sit around the fire talking and roasting marshmallows. Beach-s’mores were awesome! The beach was not too crowded, even in July. We always had our own space and were able to spread out. We rented beach chairs and umbrellas and had them delivered to the condo. I would recommend bringing a wagon to tote your gear back and forth. As far as things to do, Cape San Blas is basically one long beach with a couple convenient stores, restaurants, and ice cream stands, and that’s about it. The nearest town, Port St. Joe, is very quaint and has a few good restaurants. This area is nothing like the hustle and bustle of Panama City, Destin, etc. and that was PERFECT for us. They call this area the “Forgotten Coast” and it was easy-going, and that’s just what we wanted. We journeyed out twice – once to Port St. Joe, and once to nearby Apalachicola. Those outings were fun, but the main attraction here was definitely the beautiful beach. We loved it and can't wait to come back!
Family and Friends at the Cape!
We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed our time at Cape San Blas. Steve was amazing to work with and has a beautiful condo, the decor is gorgeous. It is well stocked with just about anything and everything you could think of. The location to the pool and beach were perfect... just a hop away. A highlight in the morning was watching the turtles in the pond. I would highly recommend this condo and would give it higher marks if possible. We'll be back...
Thanks Steve for a great week!
