Overall:

Just wonderful! Very pleasant, professional check-in; we met at the nearby town and were escorted to the house. Beautiful property, very well supplied and easy to enjoy. Extensive outdoor areas that allowed for people to spread out and enjoy reasonable privacy. Wonderful, easy pool and air conditioning made the stay delightful despite extremely hot weather. We just stayed and relaxed!

Enjoyed Most:

Hard to pick! The rooms were all delightful...great for three couples....and the pool was a hit with all.

Enjoyed Least:

Bathroom on the upper level was not air conditioned...due to he unusually hot weather, AC or a fan would have been appreciated.

Relatively challenging drive up the hill with a couple of blind switchbacks, made a bit scary by dump truck traffic due to some stone work being delivered just below the house.

Surrounding Area:

Close enough to Venice to go for the evening and Asolo, nearby, is just charming. La Rocca made for great pictures...

The view from the house was magical!

Several villas by Palladio nearby.

Nearby Events or Locales:

Asolo, a picturesque village with a great small plaza, small history museum and several lovely restaurants. Several small nice shops, gourmet food store and several cafes. Walking down relatively easy, uphill was tough for some.

Tips or Restaurants:

Dinner in the terrace garden at the Hotel Cipriani

Directions:

Meeting at the Cafe Centrale is perfect....no problem getting there.

Check In Out:

Great on site coordinator.

Enjoyed Most:

Central location--could walk into the community

Enjoyed Least:

Had to supply our own toilet paper and paper towels were not replenished.

Surrounding Area:

Quaint community and surrounding area. Very easy to navigate to Venice for the day via the train.

Nearby Events or Locales:

Asolo - yes

Tips or Restaurants:

Just enjoy the area around you. Easy access.

Directions:

GPS - Yes, and would not recommend renting a car without one.

Overall:

It was amazing.

Enjoyed Most:

The views were incredible, having our own pool was a focal point for when we were at the house together. Also, they provided a meal for us the first night and stocked the property with essentials (food/wine/detergent) to get us comfortable for the first couple of days.

Surrounding Area:

Great hiking trails just down the hill from the villa. Easy to walk to town and grab food/coffee. Very beautiful region of Italy.

Nearby Events or Locales:

Asolo. Yes (although a bit steep).

Tips or Restaurants:

Supermarket in Castelcucco - a Despar, open most of the day.

Directions:

The GPS worked well. However, meeting the property manager in Asolo and then driving up was the best way, most helpful.

Check In Out:

Very organized and efficient.

Overall:

Definitely excellent. It was much more than what we expected and we expected a lot! This was a family trip (all of us coming from different destinations) and all six of us were immediately taken in by the experience. The villa, views, gardens, surroundings and staff were fantastic. After a long day of traveling from our different destinations, it was a luxury to sit down that first night to a delicious dinner left for us by the wonderful staff. Also, they had bought us a few staples to get us started until we could make it to the store. After that first night's experience, we knew that the rest of our time there would be a happy one.

Enjoyed Most:

The location of the villa took our breath away. I never imagined that it would be on a hilltop with spectacular views from every single room in the house...what a treat. The villa was a wonderful combination of modern world comfort with the Old World ambiance. We started our days with breakfast out on the deck watching Asolo come to life and after a heavy day of sightseeing we ended them at night sitting by the pool enjoying Asolo's lights.

Enjoyed Least:

That we could not stay longer!!! I know that some people might find the road to access the house a bit intimidating, but we didn't find it to be a problem.

Surrounding Area:

The surrounding area was just as picturesque as the villa itself. We used the villa as our base and traveled to various towns, cities and the Dolomites. Honestly, the distances to many of these places were not too long.

Nearby Events or Locales:

The nearest small town was Asolo. It was within walking distance (about 20 min.) and the trail is beautiful, but it is very steep and I would not recommend it for people who have trouble getting around. However, driving to town takes just 5 minutes and there is parking which you pay for during certain hours and is free in the evening. It was never a problem. The town of Asolo itself is a dream and we enjoyed discovering all of its corners.

Tips or Restaurants:

Bring what makes you comfortable. Definitely read and take to heart the suggestions that are given by the owner in the instructions book. The restaurant suggestions are right on the money. We enjoyed sitting in the Cafe Central people watching while some of us drank Prosecco and others ate the wonderful gelato desserts. Everywhere we went, we were treated extremely well.

Overall:

We enjoyed the property, which we shared with another couple.

The set-up of the bedrooms and baths was excellent for privacy.

Enjoyed Most:

The outdoor deck with pool looking out over the valley was lovely. The evening sunsets and moonrise were spectacular.

Enjoyed Least:

The walk into town is a rather strenuous trek up and down the slope. The narrow road leading into the property requires a confident and competent driver. Fortunately, my partner and I have driven extensively in Italy and other countries.

The kitchen is extremely well equipped but the knives would not cut soft butter!

Surrounding Area:

We used La Tempesta as a base to explore the Veneto and Dolomites. We enjoyed being able to visit many lovely towns and indulge my special passion--villas designed by Palladio.

Follow the Prosecco Road and, if you are daring, drive the hairpin road through the Dolomites.

Nearby Events or Locales:

The nearest town was Asolo. It was not really within walking distance, as I described above.

There is limited parking in the village and we would have preferred to be able to walk from La Tempesta. We learned to stop at any market we found open as we traveled. There is a small green grocer and a deli that are very good in the village but with limited items and hours.

Tips or Restaurants:

Make sure you bring any personal needs. Toilet tissue is not supplied.

We often had a nice lunch in towns we were visiting and then planned on making a light supper at the villa. Bistrot in Asolo was a good find.

Renters should know ahead of time that the village is closed to traffic on Sundays as are the food stores so if you arrive, as we did, late afternoon on Saturday do not plan on getting supplies until Monday. There was a meal prepared for us for Saturday night which was very welcome.

Directions:

A GPS is absolutely necessary in this area.

Map

This villa is located one kilometer east from the center of the village of Asolo where there are local artisan shops, boutiques, restaurants, and markets. Dating back to pre-Roman times, Asolo has had many famous people as residents, including the English poet Robert Browning. At the end of the 1400's, it was home and prison to the Queen of Cyprus, Caterina Cornaro, who now has a castle named after her that is open to the public. Other notable sites include the Cathedral, which was built in 1747, and the City Museum. Asolso is also a great place to take peaceful walks to enjoy the scenery. During the summer months, there are live concerts and music festivals. The medieval town of Treviso is about a 20-minute drive from the property and it's a definite place to visit due to its charm. While canals, squares, and frescoed houses line the streets, there are designer stores, art galleries, ancient churches, and wine tasting opportunities. Other possible day trips include Padova, Venice, and Verona. Verona: 68 km Venice: 43 km Padova: 30 km Treviso: 23 km Asolo: 1 km
