It was indeed the villa stay of a lifetime! I must compliment staff for for making our visit such a memorable one. The chef was incredible, but more importantly was most kind in allowing the interested children watch him prepare food. They loved him.
The setting and grounds were all we could have expected. The grounds were beautifully maintained and there was a complete sense of a well thought out operation. The villa was more than we expected. The household staff was courteous, helpful and always ready to take care of our party of 22. The staff were also friendly and helpful with our 14 grandchildren. Each bedroom and bath had been beautifully decorated and every amenity provided.
We really had no complaints about the property. Each villa was provided with it's own swimming pool and gardens. The rest of the property was available for walking and bike riding. There was even a playground for small children.
The Lucca location is fabulous for seeing that part of Tuscany. Pisa is only 30 minutes away, Florence about one hour, the beach about 45 minutes. Train service is easily available.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Lucca was the closest town of any size. The villas are located in Vorno, a very small village. We were within walking distance, but along a narrow road with traffic.
Tips or Restaurants:
We found everything provided that we could want including a WONDERFUL chef. The food was so good that we had no desire to look for restaurants. We did go into Lucca one evening for a lovely dinner.
Overall: A lovely property and the staff was exceptional. Enjoyed Most: The Staff. I have rented several villas in the past and the this was by far the most consciencious staff; very hard-working and great attitude. Surrounding Area: Lucca is a very charming town
Overall: This villa was absolutely beautiful, even better than the pictures. The location was great, the grounds were lovely, and Bartek and Myjka, our chef and housekeeper were wonderful. We loved them! A group of 10 of us went, and we had the best time! An amazing experience overall! Enjoyed Most: The interior and exterior of the property were amazing, the pool and backyard were terrific, the views were fabulous, everything was great! Once again, we loved having Bartek and Myjka watching over us as well! We had Bartek cook for us a few nights, and the food was incredible. Enjoyed Least: Really no complaints. Surrounding Area: Lucca is a great town to walk around in, the area in which the villa was located was beautiful for walks or bike rides. Nearby Events or Locales: Take a bike ride around, and explore the surrounding area, very lovely.
Also, go into Lucca for a walk around the town and for dinner. Pisa was a quick drive away, Florence was about an hour by car. We took many other road trips, but they were all further differences, but worth the drives(ie. Pienza, Siena, just to name a few).
Tips or Restaurants: Definitely hire the chef to cook at least several dinners for you.
Also, the breakfast buffet was a great way to start the day! Definitely have a car, you will need one to get to surrounding towns. Great restaurant finds were Vipore and Buca di Antonio located in Lucca
Overall: We had a fabulous time at this villa. The staff and chef were superior. Enjoyed Most: The villa and staff made one of our best vacations ever so I highly recommend this villa
