About the property

Apartment, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 2-4)

My home that I rent on VRBO is my personal residence and reflects a well kept bachelor pad with a very comfortable and simple layout.

Views off of the small deck are beautiful and dramatic of the entire downtown city skyline. Amenities include

high definition TV'S throughout the apartment that have Netflix, NFL-MLB and NBA packages. WI-FI as well .

Washer & dryer, dell desktop, and a private parking spot along with a full fridge of refreshments, extremely comfortable beds in both rooms and hardwood floors throughout.

Only one kitty in the house and his name is Big Guy and he is very affectionate and social.

If cats are not your thing then my home probably is not for you.

In a nutshell, My home is in a wonderful neighborhood with just about everything you could want only a block or two away. ( whole foods, Starbucks, 10 different fabulous restaurants all within walking distance)

When guest are staying at my home, I'm usually a text away to help with a variety of things that tourist request .

About The Owner

I'm a small business owner who has two residences in San Francisco. I have a 6 year old daughter and spend alot of time traveling throughout the year. My apartment reflects a well kept bachelor pad in the best neighborhood in all of San Francisco. I'm one block away from 18th Street which has coffee shops, restaurant etc. 3- min from downtown

5 min from bay bridge- 13 min from airport- and 3 blocks away from whole foods and other retail stores

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2008

Why The Owner chose Potrero Hill

I've grown up in San Francisco all my life and have several real estate investments through my partnership with my father.

What makes this apartment unique

It has it all for the traveler, guest etc.

great location, great views, great neighborhood, and a very reasonable price for someone who would prefer a house with all of the ammenties rather than hotel that you have to pay through the nose for everything. Parking is key and I have it for the guest.

Great host, excellent pad, and handy location made for a great stay in the Bay

  • 5 of 5

Only a short trip and easy to find from the airport - even after a days travel, having to drive on the wrong side of the road, and at night!

Met on the stairs by BG (the cat) who was quick to show us his bowl and stock of jelly food.

Joking aside, this is a well equipped and located apartment in a very nice area - lots of local cafes, bars restaurantsand shops (up the hill one block) - the locals like to chat a lot and are very friendly.

We found Scott a great host - very good communication - thank you for making us most welcome.

It was easy to get into the city centre using the two local buses or drive.Great views of the City Centre out of the apartment windows.

Highly recommended and great value.

Lots of potential with a few updates!

  • 3 of 5

Our family of 4 stayed here last week for a few days. First, let me point out the positives. The host, Scott, is amazingly gracious. We definitely felt like we were staying at a generous friend's house. He communicated quickly and clearly. We felt very welcome there. The apartment also has an amazing view of the skyline. The space is great too. Lots of room and the beds were comfortable. The washer and dryer were a nice touch as well. His cat, Big Guy, is SUPER sweet. Both of my kids (ok, and me) fell in love with Big Guy. As for the negatives, I think the best way to characterize it is that it is truly a bachelor pad, as Scott calls out in the description. I think younger travelers and college students would feel perfectly at home here. As for us, a suburban family, we didn't find that it met our cleanliness standards. I gave the specific feedback to Scott and I have confidence that he will fix the issues for the next guests. The road that the apartment on is noisy as well. I don't consider myself a super light sleeper and the cars and buses woke me up. We weren't able to close the windows, so if they were closed, that probably would have muted the noise. Also, it was a little farther away from the tourist attractions without a car. It took between 50 - 65 minutes by public transportation or 20 minutes by Uber to get to some of the touristy areas. There is a Whole Foods a couple blocks from the apartment, which was great. And the neighborhood felt safe.

Owner's Response: I'm inclined to agree with my guest review. She is right and I have taken steps to making sure my home would meet her expectations in the future . I've had more Families stay here than young people and the window issues and deep clean has happened as well . Thanks Rina - appreciate your review Scott

What a Great Host!

  • 5 of 5

I was traveling between states with two of my friends when we decided to go to from Las Vegas to San Francisco .. Very last minute decision! We were literally on our way to the airport when we started checking places out.

We tried for so long until we nearly gave up on finding a last minute place to book until Scott decided to email us back telling us that he cannot rent his place due to the last minute decision. However, he gave us his number and told us to call him if we ran out of options, we obviously called.

As soon as we got to the neighborhood; we noticed the hills and felt the chilli weather .. It was a beautiful afternoon. We had a problem unlocking the door and we called Scott to tell him .. He took the effort and drove from the other side of the town to figure out what was the problem and apparently, the housekeeper left the wrong key for us.

While he was there .. he showed us the place and introduced us to his car, Big Guy is the cutest and such a calm cat. Scott is the nicest host we've met during our trip to the states and offered us his place when we deeply needed one to stay in. He provided food and drinks in the fridge, internet, netflix and we were just so glad that we met him.

We are planning to come back soon.

Bad Experience

  • 1 of 5

My family booked with Scott for our spring break trip. We arrived and found the place to be very dirty. After we swept the floors, washed the bed sheets, cleaned up where the cat had thrown up and covered the furniture with sheets (yes, it was that bad) we decided to make the best of it. It was a long night. The street was noisy and my daughter's room had a hole in the window. The next morning when we went to get a shower, there were no washcloths and my text to Scott went unanswered.

My daughter immediately had an allergic reaction when we arrived to either the cat or the dust but after suffering through the first night, we knew she couldn't make it the whole week. I called Scott and told him we had to leave and we moved to a Holiday Inn. He offered his mothers house to us, but we didn't want to take a chance. Scott apologized and agreed to refund part of our money.

I have contacted Scott a few times to ask about a refund but I have yet to see any returned. He, of course, is under no obligation to refund anything but it seemed like the right thing to do considering the circumstances. He did offer a free stay at either his place or his mothers if we returned.

Overall, other than the problem with this property, we had a great trip to San Francisco once my daughter started feeling better.

I would caution anyone staying at this place. My experience was nowhere near the experience of the other reviews on this site. If I had to do it over, I would just stay at Fisherman's Wharf. You can branch out and see the whole city from there either by Uber, cable car or bus.
