I stay at Island Inn every few months and have had great luck with all my rooms I have had. Until now. The bed in this unit is absolutely horrible. The worst bed I have ever slept in by far!!! Hard as a rock. This was a weeks vacation for myself and my best friend and from the first night we were hurting. By the 3rd night we were both sleeping on the pull out couch which even though it was uncomfortable it was much better then the mattress on the bed. We spent our last day there paying for a massage before hopping on the plane.
The property itself is rundown and in need of improvements. The unit itself had old hotel furniture, peeling paint, dirty, and cockroaches. The unit hasn't been updated since the Golden Girls. The paint was peeling off the trim and cockroaches were everywhere. The ceiling in the bathroom around the broken vent fan needs repaired. The only good this about the place is the pool area was nice and clean and the tiki bar served cold drinks. I definitely wouldn't recommend staying in this unit to anyone. I have supportive pictures. The icemaker in the hallway barely worked. The tiles were coming off of the breezeway balconies and were poorly patched.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Island Inn. Our room #423 had the perfect view of the ocean and the pool. It was very clean and stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay including dishes and kitchenware, linens and towels, even beach chairs! I loved the fact that we had a full size pull out couch and a king size bed. My husband and I slept in the bed, and our adult son used the full size couch, and we easily closed it up during the day to provide more room. There is so much to do surrounding this area that we could not explore it all in 1 week, so we will definitely return as soon as possible!
Good area location.
Close to everything.
Excellent view of the beach and pool.
Plenty of pans, dishes, & glasses, but wash them first - they weren't clean.
Plenty of towels in room.
Room included some beach chairs & umbrella.
AC & ceiling fan were plenty cold.
Room is perfect size for 2-3 people.
4 outdoor grills.
Nice size frig & freezer.
Bed was comfortable.
Nice lobby with free coffee & tourist info.
Check in was quick & easy.
Beach was fairly close.
Nice Tiki bar by the pool (drinks & some food).
Patio adequately seats 4.
Publix grocery store & liquor store within walking distance.
Many places to eat, drink, & listen to live bands nearby.
Building wear patched or unrepaired in some areas.
Laundry Room was hot, run-down, & dirty. Takes quarters but front desk had limited supply.
Bring your own tools for cleaning & cooking on one of the 4 grills on the beach.
Loose handle on patio door.
Was able to enter room w/o a key once but did not reoccur.
Closet doors were not attached - just leaning in place. Was able to reattach one.
Stove heating element kept coming loose.
No policing of cars parked in unmarked areas.
Wear shoes in the room - floor makes your feet dirty.
You'll have to park across the street most days.
Avoid eating at Jimmy B's. Good band, but took 1 1/2 hours to be served after seated.
