My husband and I spent 10 days in Dan's townhouse over the holidays this year. Our son from MT joined us for seven of those ten days. Besides the townhouse's convenient location for trips to Old Town and DC, it served as a place we could entertain our extended DC and VA family for Christmas Eve. We brought in a tree and poinsettia and decorated the table with my table linens from home and Dan's tableware. It was truly festive. I was able to roast ducks and bake a French apple tart for the occasion. The townhouse became our home away from home for the holidays.
The place is perfect for a family of 4 or 2 couples. The location is perfect for visiting Washington, DC or Old Alexandria. Only a 10 minute Uber ride to all local attractions. The rental was very clean and had all the necessary items for a weeks+ stay. The patio was great to sit and relax after a day in D.C. The grill is charcoal so bring the appropriate items to grill out if you plan on doing this. Other than that the place was fantastic!!!
Our family of four stayed for 2 weeks in this comfortable "home away from home". Everything we needed to relax after days of sightseeing. Were able to hop on a bus at several spots right outside or at the corner to head into DC. We did drive our own car a few times, but never had to worry about parking when we got back. We enjoyed the patio and even grilled out one night. Dan was easy to work with and helpful with any questions we had. The community was very nice, well kept, and friendly people. We would highly recommend this place.
We had a wonderful month in the DC area, and this comfortable, clean, well-appointed colonial townhouse was an excellent home base. The neighborhood is very safe and perfect for daily walks. Buses run right in front of the townhouse taking you to nearby old town Alexandria or metro stops. Sophisticated Shirlington, with its excellent restaurants, a grocery store and shops, is a 15 minute walk, by way of a pedestrian bridge over I-395. Without traffic, a ten minute drive on I-395 takes you to Washington Reagan Airport or downtown DC. Dan, the owner, responded to e-mails promptly and made the rental process easy. He lives a few blocks from the townhouse and was so nice about answering any questions we had during the month.
What a great, relaxing place to come back to after a busy day of sightseeing! This condo is equipped with everything that you will need for your "home away from home". It was very comfortable and clean. We had no need for a car as the buses stop right across the street to take you to the metro station to transfer for wherever you want to go. Besides all of the Washington sights, be sure to visit Old Town Alexandria, which has many historical sights also. Dan was very easy to work with. We would definitely recommend this property to our friends and family!
This town home was clearly a home, as confirmed by the very personable, responsive owner. It is decorated just like your home might be. It's in a great location, very close to the freeway, 10 minutes from all the downtown tourist locations. For a pretty busy street, it is very quiet since it is up a hill, and parking was never a problem.
My only complaint, the bed was extremely firm. And there is no place to put your feet up after walking 5 miles a day as a tourist, just a love seat and Queen Anne chairs.
