About Laura Prather
I've lived in Austin, Texas since 1984 when I started school at the University of Texas -- go horns! I love Austin and all the fun things there are to do here. The city is so vibrant! I lived in this house for 18 years and only moved a few miles away because of a growing family. Hands down -- this is the best location in town because of its close proximity to everything there is to do and the fact that you experience no traffic! No need to even get on a freeway to get to downtown, UT, Zilker Park, and more.
Laura Prather purchased this House in 1995
Why Laura Prather chose Clarksville
This home is a unique pocket of Austin called 'Clarksville' and it's a fabulous pedestrian area where, within 3 blocks, you can walk to the local grocery (Fresh Plus), Italian bistro (Cipollina), coffee house (Cafe Medici), five star restaurant (Jeffrey's), drug store with original soda fountain (Nau's Drugs), church (St. Luke's), 9th street park, local watering hole (the Tavern), and more. I bought this property because I wanted to be able to walk to work downtown, the University of Texas, and the State Capitol. I also wanted to be able to have fabulous restaurants and night spots near my home. Some of the best dining in Austin, including Sandra Bullock's, Bess Bistro, southwestern cuisine favorite, Z Tejas, and hidden jewel, Cafe Josie, are all walking distance. The art galleries along West 6th Street and the bars, including the Johnny Cash tribute, the Mean Eyed Cat, are all walking distance. The outside of the property is very unassuming, and then, when you walk inside, you see a fabulous and extensive remodel with warmth and all modern amenities. This is one of the larger homes -- 4000 square feet -- in the area and one of the few that has ample parking (circle drive in front and street parking) and a spacious backyard with a grill and deck for BBQ'ing.
What makes this House unique
Walking distance to downtown, 6th Street, Zilker Park, Lady Bird lake, the University of Texas, the State Capitol, and the heart of the music scene in Austin. No need to get on freeways to experience everything Austin has to offer.

Excellent home and location!
I stayed here last weekend and loved it. The location was excellent and the home was more than enough space for 8 adults visiting Austin. The hosts were also fantastic. I would definitely recommend booking!
Great house for a big group! Plenty of room! Great location and the owner was extremely helpful! We loved our stay.

Great Location, Awesome Support
Very nice property, tons of room and amenities, awesome backyard!
Thanks so much, Matt. I really enjoyed hosting your family. Y'all are welcome back anytime.
Unbeatable location and size in the heart of Austin! This spacious oasis in Central Austin is walking distance to downtown and the State Capitol, the Governor's Mansion and the University of Texas (home to the Harry Ransom Center, the Blanton Art Museum and the UT Tower). For those interested in the great outdoors, there is fabulous swimming in the icy cold waters of Barton Springs (68 degrees year round) or local hang out, Deep Eddy pool. Austin offers beautiful hiking and mountain biking along the Barton Creek Greenbelt also walking distance from the house. in addition, if you are a jogger or want to go for a leisurely bike ride or walk, Lady Bird Lake has trails ranging from 3-12 miles long -- this too is walking distance from the property. If you are attending the ACL Festival in Zilker Park, it is within walking distance. For Formula One fans, all transportation leaves from downtown walking distance from the home. Walk to one of the best bar scenes in Texas (6th Street) and to many of Austin's best restaurants. Lions Municipal Golf course is less than a mile away. Outlet mall shopping is less than 30 minutes away at the Prime Outlet mall in San Marcos.
While you are in Austin, be sure to go see live music at the Austin City Limits Moody Theater downtown, catch a show at the nostalgic Paramount Theater downtown, eat at the 5 star restaurant, Hudson's on the Bend (specializing in wild game), take a boat ride on Lake Travis, visit the Hulahut on Lake Austin for margaritas and polynesian cuisine, have fantastic Tex Mex at Maudie's, catch a UT football, basketball or baseball game, go see the Gutenberg Bible at the Harry Ransom Center and the powerful collections at the LBJ Library and Museum, go shopping at the fun boutiques along South Congress and pick up one of the best pizzas you'll ever eat at Home Slice Pizza or stop in at one of the gourmet food trailers, including 'Hey Cupcake,' take a tour of the State Capitol, the UT tower, and the Governor's Mansion, enjoy some of the best golfing in Texas at Barton Creek Country Club, go for a day of pampering at the Lake Austin Spa, or head down I-35 for 30 miles and shop at one of the largest outlet malls in the nation.
Don't forget to see the bats that come out under the Congress Avenue bridge at sunset!
