About Bill McNeil
We have lived in North Carolina for 42 years, currently in Geensboro, after growing up in Upstate New York and Florida and going to college in Pennsylvania, Boston and UNC-Chapel Hill.
Bill McNeil purchased this House in 2004
Why Bill McNeil chose Brunswick County
Our home offers a great place to retreat, connect with nature, get in touch with the ebb and flow of tides in the marsh. It is away from the congested beaches, yet close enough to enjoy them. For golfers, over 30 Myrtle Beach and Brunswick County courses are within 30 miles.
What makes this House unique
After looking at beach property along the entire NC coast, we found this river-view gem at the end of a sandy path, with what some have called a million dollar view.

Cleanest, prettiest home
My mom, dog, and I arrived early and met the two cleaning people who were super nice and friendly. The house was the cleanest one we have ever stayed at. The view was amazing (better than the pictures), and the house felt like a home. The owner was very helpful and nice, and even called after we arrived to make sure everything was ok. 100 out of 10!
Quiet place to rewind nice home
Very quiet out of the way home were my family an I could just be us. For Home right on marsh very few bugs An wonderful view both morning an eve. Everything worked An its was very handy get stuff in An out. We enjoyed our stay
Restful and relaxing
We had a wonderful week in Shallotte & thought the house was a great value with lots of amenities from the 2 kayaks, big beautiful porch overlooking the marsh & river, hot tub, washer & dryer, board games, full kitchen with all appliances & dishes, 3 bedrooms, lots of space, & very clean accommodations made it easy for our family of 5 to relax & enjoy. The other huge perk was being able to bring along our dog, who was so happy to be with us! We found a few great restaurants and beaches around Shallotte to make our vacation unforgettable. If you stay, you must visit Pelican's snowballs & try one of the 100 flavors! The only suggestion we might have is to install a whole house dehumidifier to take away some of the dampness that goes along with rentals near the water. Thank you for a wonderful week!
Relaxing family trip to NC!
Thanks to Bill & neighbor Ed for providing us a great home for our family vacation! House was super clean and stocked with all the basic necessities you need on the first day. The night sky and all the sounds of nature while sitting on the back porch was one of my favorite things to do! We didn't turn the TV on once all week...we played games, read 2 books and did puzzles (we left one for the house), enjoyed the beautiful local beaches and donut shop! Thanks for a wonderful trip in your home!!
We're delighted you had a good stay at our place on the Shallotte, even with noise from the house construction across the way interrupting the peace.
Come again when you can.

Great place to stay!
My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay here with our black lab! Very comfortable and private too! Short drive to nearby beaches. Great porch to sit and watch wildlife....highly recommend!
Our family loved the home and the easy laid back atmosphere. The views of the Shallote river were beautiful all day even while it was raining. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to come back again. We were also able to bring our South African Boerboels, which is often difficult to find places who allow dogs. We are very thankful for the opportunity to stay in such a great place. Thanks so much!
Our home is a quiet retreat setting at the end of a sandy path, yet a short walk to local shrimp at Holden Seafood, four miles to two groceries, other stores and restaurants in downtown Shallotte. For beach-lovers, Ocean Isle Beach is within 7 miles and Sunset Beach within 10 miles. The deck has a fantastic view of the Shallotte River. Kayak from our front lawn at high tide using our 2 kayaks, paddle the river, fish or find clams, oysters and crabs.
