Unique and memorable blast from the past

  • 5 of 5

This house was a total gem and the perfect place for the whole family to stay while in town for a wedding in Austin. The house is full of unique artwork, antiques and endless places for groups of family and friends to sit and converse. It is well-appointed with all amenities and the owner is close by and ready to assist should you need anything. Swimming was something we spent hours and hours doing, and was totally necessary for the Texas summer heat! Some of the taller men in the family were challenged with the short shower heads and our toddler had to be kept away from some of the more delicate antiques in the house, but such is the way with a home built in the 40s and a fair trade for the fun and unique atmosphere of the place. Very secluded, and our musical family had a blast singing along with the piano and guitar. You almost don't need to venture into town, though there are definitely some fun places nearby- we especially enjoyed the Celtic shop and the music store Fiddler's Green. Thanks for a great trip, and we hope to stay again!

Great Home for Long Weekend Girls Trip!

  • 5 of 5

This house worked so well for a trip I planned for a group of 8 girls who came to Austin for a bachelorette weekend. Virginia, the homeowner, was not only accommodating and sweet but lives right on the property and helped us any time we needed something while not coming off as overbearing in any way. We listened to loud music in the house and had no problems!

Plenty of space, awesome pool (and even better Christmas lights around them!!), fully stocked kitchen with everything you'll need if you want to do some cooking, and lots of bedrooms! We had a blast!

Absolutely recommend this house for your stay in Austin!

Beautiful! Perfect for our family gathering

  • 5 of 5

This home was just perfect for our Thanksgiving gathering. We cooked all our meals in the galley kitchen which has all new appliances and was well stocked with great pots and pans, glass ware and dishes. The pool patio in the backyard had a fire pit with plenty of firewood which led to a great time outside on a cool night. Charcoal was available for grilling as well as all the tools and pans needed. Our host was gracious and so warm and welcoming. We would definitely stay again and recommend this home to a friend. The description is accurate and the home was very clean and well maintained. The owner went above and beyond to provide great customer service.

Unique and functional

  • 5 of 5

My family rented the home while in Austin for our daughter's wedding at the Contemporary at Laguna Gloria so the location was excellent for us. We greatly enjoyed the pool and outdoor grill area (except for the vicious mosquitoes) for entertaining other family and friends. The pool especially was a big hit with the kids! The long narrow drive and parking was a bit of a challenge for the guests coming and going but we worked it out. While the kitchen and bathrooms are relatively small, especially for several people getting ready for a wedding, it just took a little pre-planning to get everyone scheduled for their times. Virginia was very accommodating and responded promptly to our calls when something was needed. This home may not have an updated kitchen and large open floor plan for entertaining but it is full of history, character and fun conversation starters!

Owner's Response: Dear Kristi, Thank you for being such great guests and I'm so glad that you all enjoyed your stay here. I am so glad that you enjoyed the character, history and charm of our home. Also, for girl's get togethers, I am putting a big mirror in between all the bedrooms so that ladies can prepare for weddings, a night out on the town and see their beautiful selves as they prepare for the day as well. Thank you for the reminder as I have been thinking that would be a good space for all the fun times you and all the bachelorette parties and weddings that we accommodate. I appreciate your stay here and welcome you and all again! Best Wishes to All, Sincerely, Virginia

Umm... AWESSOME

  • 5 of 5

This space was great, and the owner was nothing but amazing. We had some parking issues but was able to work it out with the assistance of the owner. The house is great and secluded but in the middle of it all... Plenty of space and everything to make for a great weekend.

Owner's Response: We hope all our guests after a full day of festivals and festivities. are as grateful and easy going as you all were! After a full day at the action packed ACL Festival, I hope you enjoyed your recharge stay at our home. Thank you for maneuvering the limited parking situation and arranging and complying to recommended requests. We can hold up to 5 carefully arranged cars (but 4 is the comfortable limit). i am so grateful when guests understand our parking limitations and 4 cars is great for overnight, and for events across the street works for a few hours, but overnight 4 (or 5) is the better limit. Also, it is an honor to be asked to reserve our home for next year! Please let me know your weekend for ACL in your request and I am happy to make your reservation as you desire. We love great guests that are grateful, respectful, clean, considerate, understanding compliant, and problem free!!! Looking forward to your reservation request next ACL 2016! Hope to see you next year or sooner! Sincerely, Virginia

Good location - large home

  • 4 of 5

We had a large group for girls weekend so this house fit us all perfectly. It was great having a pool with the September heat. The location was perfect, being just 10 minutes from downtown. Although there was room for a few cars, maneuvering in the driveway was pretty tight. Virginia, the owner, is on site for any questions or concerns, but we did not feel like she was looming over us.
