Over the years our compound has proven to be the great place for family travels, welcoming kids by a safe beach, children pool and a lot of grass fields, large enough to put together a friendly family soccer match. Many families have become loyal returning customers. There are hundreds of reviews at the villas and many are posted online (We are posting here one of the recent review left by a seasoned traveler: “We had the most AMAZING time at your gorgeous property. We can’t stop talking or thinking about it. It was so relaxing and beautiful. The staff was fantastic; Ayu helped us out with every request.
We have been to Bali around 16 times since 1997, staying at guesthouses, luxury hotels, and many different villas. Your place was definitely our favorite villa that we have rented. I loved all the antiques — much more my preference than all the modern luxury villas popping up — and villas were so well laid out. The garden is beautiful, and the views of course, stunning. Also, we have stayed in Candi Dasa a few times, but this was our first time to your village. We loved it! Nice locals, and definitely more clean and well-kept than many villages in the area. Thank you so much for sharing your little piece of heaven with us! We hope to stay there again someday”. Amy B.
We are very interested in Balinese arts and culture. For more than 20 years we were coming to Bali to work, enjoy the weather and get inspired. Finally, by 2010 we settled in Bali and build the compound of 3 villas. Yet not retired to live in Bali most of the time, we are trying to spend as much time as possible here. We are enjoying meeting new people and eager to share our knowledge and contacts in arts and theatre. We are yoga enthusiasts, play a lot of recreational tennis, dive.
CKS management purchased this villa in 2010
It is a great alternative to Bali's overcrowded South. Incredible nature, mountains surroundings, safe ocean, great for boat activities, snorkeling and sailing. New highway makes our place very accessible, it takes only 50 min to get to Sanur these days. Plus, we like it quiet. Like many creative people we need the sound of the wave and the wind to concentrate on our work.
Our villas are built in Traditional Indonesian style with contemporary twists at the palm fringed beach overlooking coral reefed lagoon outside the town of Candidasa.
You will love an oasis of calm and comfort decorated with cleverly chosen local antiques, artwork and crafts you’ll want to take home with you.
All meals can be catered at the villa or you can eat out in a wide variety of local restaurants, but with kids in tow it’s a good idea to stock up on snacks and favorite foods for light lunches. Groceries can be ordered in for you, or have the driver take you to a supermarket in one of the larger towns at the beginning of your stay to stock up on necessities. There is a German baker in the local town for fresh bread and rolls.
Wonderful massages can be booked in the spa courtyard, private yoga sessions or tennis lessons can be arranged on request.
Three villas share large (6200m2) oceanfront property with 100 coconut trees. Villa Joglo and villa Saraswati larger rental villas are built using antique carved wooden walls and ceilings from a traditional Javanese homes. Intricate carved wood delights the eye at every turn and is combined with wide glass doors all over villas' sides to create an interior that is at once rooted in tradition and modern and light filled. Beautifully decorated with a mixture of contemporary artworks and quirky traditional craft, every piece of furniture is individual, carefully chosen and comfortable as well as beautiful.
Floors are smooth local stone tiles, tactile and pleasing to bare feet – there is no reason to wear shoes at all at the villa, inside or out as the grass lawns are soft as deep pile carpet.
Upstairs in Villa Joglo the stunning carved ceiling is the architectural focus. The two bedrooms are divided by the wooden panels and glass doors, and the central sitting area curtained at night. Central area can become an additional bedroom. There are two beautifully fitted bathrooms with soft fluffy towels, huge granite tubs and stone sinks. All three rooms open onto a wide wrap-around balcony with an upstairs sitting area and stunning views through the palms to the sea and the island of Nusa Penida.
Balinese thatched villa Yoga Bale has two large bedrooms and its own spacious open living room with soaring thatch ceiling. It is designed for island living with two sides open to the garden, closed in only by rattan blinds when windy and at night. The downstairs family bedroom with two large carved wood beds and plenty of space for a cot is the room. The two bathrooms are open air, like small private courtyards. Beautiful carved wooden beds, soft linen sheets and well-chosen pillows make for comfort all our villas.
Hello, Yuri. I just wanted to let you know that we had a terrific stay at your villa, and want to once again thank Ayu, Made and the other staff for their great help, and to you for outstanding organization. We are already tentatively planning for our next visit in the spring or early summer (which is much easier for us to do now since we are based in Bangkok). We look forward to seeing you again soon!
We booked all 3 villas so we could share this beautiful place with friends. The villas are all beautiful! The grounds truly stunning lying by the pool was just Bliss! The Reef fascinating lots of fish to see for those who snorkel. The team of staff so wonderful Ayu and team so lovely, friendly and helpful the kids talk of them still! This is definitely a non touristy part of Bali which is stunning much to see and do if your prepared to travel away from the Villa a little. The group enjoyed visits to Coffee plantations, rice fields, water temples, Volcano cycle ride and a Boat trip over to the Gili Islands all thoroughly recommended. This place was incredibly special and I can't recommend it highly enough to anyone thinking of staying were just looking for an excuse to return tho from the UK it's a Long Trip. We will be back tho Thankyou so much for sharing with us your wonderful Home. The Jackson, Cornwell & Boardman Families. UK
We decided to rent all 3 villas as a group of 13 at the end of August '16 and what a great decision it was. Peaceful & relaxed are the best words to describe thre place.
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, they are very inconspicuous when not required but are there within seconds as soon as you have a request. Ayu, the house manager is happy to suggest and book restaurant options and will help with day trip ideas etc.
As for the area, it's nice and quiet but the bars of Candi Dasa are just a few minutes drive away (most restaurants have a driver and will come and pick you up). There are a few nice restaurants within a few minute walk that offer good Balinese food but also pizza and burgers for the less adventurous. I can fully recommend the restaurant at the Sea Breeze hotel right next to the villas. Of course the food cooked by the staff at the villas is excellent - ask about the traditional Balinese banquet!
We would go back tomorrow if we could which should be recommendation enough!!
Our party of 16 took over the Citakara Sari compound for over two weeks this past summer. It is a gorgeous property with lovely expansive grounds, spacious villas that gave us all our own privacy while having a great common room for meals and get togethers. The property is on the "sleepier" side of Bali away from the hustle of Seminyak. There are several great excursions about 45 minutes from the Villa that we explored. We ventured to various beaches and snorkeled at the Blue Lagoon. We took advantage of the bbq prepared by the staff one night and had local performers come a do a "Frog Dance" that was a fun treat. Iyu the property manager helped us navigate around town and we worked with several different drivers to take us to destinations outside of the main village. On the same strip of beach there are several different hotels which were convenient to drop into for lunches and dinners to change up the pace. We loved using the tennis courts and the mini raft in the pool which the kids turned into their own pirate ship. We had been traveling all summer and Citakara Sari was the perfect place to end our whirlwind vacation. We searched for treasure (sea glass, shells, etc) on our own private beach, lounged at the pool, played cards under the gazebo and got lost watching the waves. Iyu arranged for massages that were heavenly. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the villas and would recommend to families with all ages, wedding parties and friends.
The villa is superb, the view is amazing, the team is professional and very helpful, always here when you need. It is a little corner in paradise, closed to Candi Dasa (5mn by car), very quiet and relaxing, but you can also make visits to nice places.
We took both villas....both were divine and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We even organised a dinner party with a suckling pig and had friends come over...there was nothing to do from setting the table to cleaning up. The most relaxing holiday in a beautiful villa with lovely pool and discrete helpful staff. Staying here was the highlight of the trip...you really don't need to venture beyond the gates!!! Although we had to since we were attending a conference at a hotel near by....Citi Kara Sari was the much better venue.
Having a driver at your disposal really helped since local knowledge is a must and the drivers we saw on the road caused lots of amusement for their lack of concern for themselves.
Would recommend it to those with family group or large party of friends. Sleeps 8 couples perfectly. A truly relaxing holiday thanks to the great staff.
We spent 5 nights in this wonderful property in July 2013.
Hospitality started as soon as we landed in the airport with prompt arrival of our drivers.
The property is situated on the east coast of Bali and so with the traffic of morning rush hour, the commute is about 1.5 hours.
However when you arrive, you are immediately met by a group of friendly staff waiting to take your bags and cool tropical drinks in hand!
The property is more majestic than the pictures would suggest.
You even have your own stretch of private beach!
Bedrooms are spacious and air conditioned.
The villa was immaculate with beautiful antiques and artwork reflective of the owners' excellent taste.
The menu for the villa itself is simple and this may be reflective of the fact that there are several local restaurants who will deliver.
However we were a large group with small children and so arranged with Ayu to have dinner at home . Ayu is a fantastic cook who easily could outrun any of the local restaurants!
Made also is an excellent and safe driver who showed us the sights!
If you have the opportunity, ask for the Kecak dance performance , you'll not regret it !
The highlight though was meeting the owners themselves who are warm and charming people !
Thank you Ayu, Made and all the wonderful staff at Citakara Sari!
Best wishes Lynn and Iouri ! We hope to meet with you again in the future, either back in Bali or on our side of the world :))
Our Estate is located right on the beach, has 6 bedrooms in three villas, sleeping 12 adults(of course, kids staying with their parents in the same bedrooms). There is tennis court, spa and sauna on site, fruit garden and more. We are in Candi Dasa, a quiet haven on the Bali's east coast, which is known as a quiet refuge for artists, writers, and discerning travelers, seeking a beautiful retreat away from larger westernized resorts. We have 7 service personnel attending to almost any guests' needs. We organize private shows involving the best artistic talent of Bali performed at he villas.
There are many wonderful restaurants in the area though our chef offers great menu and may entice you to dine in. We have great ocean views and the white-sand beach is at out boat ramp. Great diving is short boat ride away, snorkeling is right off the beach. Our compound of 3 villas is build on 6200m2 of land filled with grass, thousands of plants and flowers, 100 palm trees, pools and fish ponds. Our place is great for large families, reunions, weddings, celebrations.
