Primary renter must be over 25 and present during the entire rental period.

Two bedrooms upstairs each with Queen beds, one bedroom downstairs with two bunk beds, one twin over full, and one twin over twin.. The house will sleep a maximum of 11 including the Queen and Twin air mattress. However if your group is all adults I limit the group size to 9.

My two homes each have a distinctively different flavor and a different audience, but both provide an exceptional value for your vacation dollar.

About Michael

A building contractor for most of my adult life, I now find myself semi-retired and able to enjoy some travel and freedom. My vacation rental business fits perfectly into my lifestyle, because it puts me in contact with others who like to explore new places and have the resources of time and money to follow through.. I also know from my travels what it is like to get to a destination and to have your pre-arranged accommodations wind up being a catastrophe... so my vacation rentals, while all being very different in personality and location, all provide a great value and are exactly as advertised...

Michael purchased this house in 1947

Why Michael chose Palmerton

My father built the original house in 1947, and I bought it from my mother about 10 years ago as my primary residence when I move to Pennsylvania from Annapolis, Maryland after a long stint in the construction business there. I love this house with all my heart, and I have made major changes throughout the years, both outside and in. In the pictures you can see the huge addition that I built which contains my wood shop and below that a garage. However I was bitten by the travel bug a few years ago and so it seemed a better idea to rent the house to others who may also enjoy the incredible vibe the place has to offer.. so I get the best of both worlds.. when the house is not occupied I still get use of it, and I also get to share my love for the place with others. Now it all makes sense.

What makes this house unique

Where to begin? Where can you find a house with so much charm, surrounded by 9 acres of privately owned nature, with not just one but two spring fed mountain streams within a stones throw of the house, and yet still just 5 minutes outside of the quaint town of Palmerton where you can get every service you need for your time away. Add to this a fire pit which is only 25 feet from the stream, a nature trail, a huge wrap around porch with a gas grill... this house would be impossible to duplicate in today's market.

All the amenities of home while on vacation

The Homestead provides the perfect balance of things to do for kids and adults. Great location for a mini vacation with Blue Mountain just around the corner. We are repeat visitors and always have a fantastic time. We love all of the helpful notes that answer our questions around the house. Very intuitive! Michael is always available if anything is needed... though rarely anything is needed. Great stay— thank you again!

Well equipped house with a few issues

Overall, we had a positive experience! House is quite, clean, and well-equipped (has everything you need from Board games to bandages). Two things that are of concern: 1 - half of the house is closed, and is not available for use, which wasn’t clear at the time of booking; 2 - too many sticky notes around the house with all possible instructions and warnings, which we found a bit intimidating. These two things are easy to fix though..

Owner's Response: First, regarding half the house being closed. To keep up with the demand in my area for larger homes, I recently built an addition to the existing house where I am adding 2 more bedrooms, 2 more bathrooms, and a huge living room. The outside is completely finished but the inside is far from finished and the house that my guests arrive to is exactly as in the pictures, 3 bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths, living room, game room, etc exactly as advertised. Of course I would not allow guests to access an unfinished space full of tools and construction debris.. there is never work going on when a guest is occupying the house, and none of the construction is visible to or obvious to a guest, as is obvious since this guest obviously had no idea it was under construction. The sticky notes are put up as a convenience to my guests, and ALL my guests except this one have commented to me personally that the notes made their stay much easier. When a guest only has 3 days in a house, why make them struggle to figure out how to operate things that other guests have had trouble with in the past? I always try to make my guests as comfortable as possible, to make their stay memorable, and the sticky notes are part of that effort.

Great house. Very attentive owner. Fun activities abound.

We had a lovely visit at The Homestead. Our kids loved roaming all over the property and the fire pit was great, as it was quite cold when we were there. The owner of the property is welcoming, professional and very attentive which is a pleasant surprise from other properties we have stayed at in the past. Overall, we had a wonderful time and hope to return.

Great Kitchen and Outdoor Spaces

This kitchen is VERY well-equipped with everything you could possibly need. I stayed for several days at the house with my brother, sister, and niece for a family birthday event nearby. The beds are comfortable, the bedrooms large enough to spread out a bit, and it's really quiet for sleeping. There are several lovely seating areas on the wrap-around porch---unfortunately it was December and I didn't get to use any of it, but how wonderful for the rest of the year! The living room is a small and cozy, but there is more space downstairs for kids to play foosball or hang out.

The owner has made it really easy to navigate through the house with notes strategically placed to help you out. The one thing to be aware of is that there is only one shower/tub for everyone to share, which can require coordination if more than a few people. Also, there wasn't cell service for my provider, so communication is only by their landline or internet messaging.

It's clear that the owner pays attention to detail and is easily available for questions or help. I would definitely stay here again in this very quiet, rural setting.

Everything you need...

After having stayed at several different houses in and around the poconos over the past two months, the Homestead is without question the first I would book again. Michael and Aaron have thought of every amenity, from toiletries to kitchen supplies (paper plates and solo cups) to games and a stocked fire pit. We did not want for anything while we were there and would absolutely book again. Thanks for everything, guys!

Beautiful getaway.They thought of everything...indoor and outdoor games, spices,condiments, and even the crushed ice was awesome.

Place was spotless, didn’t feel like a rental at all and our family had a great time!
