Play horseshoes laughing and talking, spend the evening having a Bonfire or enjoying the Game Room with your Friends and Family or go downtown to one of the many bars and pubs. Please check out my video and my web site for lots more detailed info!!

The Homestead is interesting and eclectic with lots of color, in a country setting but close to lots of activities

Centrally located to all the area attractions including Ski Blue Mountain (5 mins), Whitewater Rafting (20 mins), Downtown Jim Thorpe (20 mins), hiking the Appalachian Trail or the many Rails to Trails in the area, biking, or just chill on the porch or have a bonfire and reconnect with family and friends.... this property provides a perfectly located spot in the world to unwind and absorb the soothing sounds of the two streams that flank the house. Here we provide you with everything you need for a wonderful time away from the bustle of the city, and yet close enough to so many family activities that you can fill each day with a new adventure. A complete entertainment package, WiFi, Netflix and Pandora and all the upgrades you could ever want in a house that still reflects much of its original 50's flavor.

Primary renter must be over 25 and present during the entire rental period.

Two bedrooms upstairs each with Queen beds, one bedroom downstairs with two bunk beds, one twin over full, and one twin over twin.. The house will sleep a maximum of 11 including the Queen and Twin air mattress. However if your group is all adults I limit the group size to 9.

My two homes each have a distinctively different flavor and a different audience, but both provide an exceptional value for your vacation dollar.

About Michael Green

A building contractor for most of my adult life, I now find myself semi-retired and able to enjoy some travel and freedom. My vacation rental business fits perfectly into my lifestyle, because it puts me in contact with others who like to explore new places and have the resources of time and money to follow through.. I also know from my travels what it is like to get to a destination and to have your pre-arranged accommodations wind up being a catastrophe... so my vacation rentals, while all being very different in personality and location, all provide a great value and are exactly as advertised...

Michael Green purchased this house in 1947

Why Michael Green chose Blue Mountain

My father built the original house in 1947, and I bought it from my mother about 10 years ago as my primary residence when I move to Pennsylvania from Annapolis, Maryland after a long stint in the construction business there. I love this house with all my heart, and I have made major changes throughout the years, both outside and in. In the pictures you can see the huge addition that I built which contains my wood shop and below that a garage. However I was bitten by the travel bug a few years ago and so it seemed a better idea to rent the house to others who may also enjoy the incredible vibe the place has to offer.. so I get the best of both worlds.. when the house is not occupied I still get use of it, and I also get to share my love for the place with others. Now it all makes sense.

What makes this house unique

Where to begin? Where can you find a house with so much charm, surrounded by 9 acres of privately owned nature, with not just one but two spring fed mountain streams within a stones throw of the house, and yet still just 5 minutes outside of the quaint town of Palmerton where you can get every service you need for your time away. Add to this a fire pit which is only 25 feet from the stream, a nature trail, a huge wrap around porch with a gas grill... this house would be impossible to duplicate in today's market.

The Homestead makes you feel at home

  • 5 of 5

The Homestead was the perfect place for my friends and I this past weekend. It is more then just a vacation rental, it feels like a home away from home. The kitchen was equipped with any and everything we needed. The basement is perfect for handing out with plenty of space and tons of games provided to play together. The place was completely clean and overall a beautiful property equipped for fun and relaxation for every age.

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 12 (4 littles, 8 adults) had an exceptional stay at The Homestead! We all fit comfortably- we actually chose to put an air mattress on the ground of one of the upstairs bedrooms and it worked perfectly! This way the little ones could spend the morning in the basement game room and the adults could sleep in :)

Cooking at The Homestead was so easy! Truly felt like we were at home, everything we needed was available such as casserole dishes/crockpot/tupperware containers/etc. When we arrived, Michael/Aaron had candles burning, lights on, and New Years Eve noise makers, party hats and champagne glasses waiting! Felt like we were visiting friends! Thanks for everything we will be back again with the entire crew!

Owner's Response: Wow Chelsay thank you for the amazing review! You and your family really got the most out of your stay and really used the property as my son and I have imagined.. to build memories and to have a stress free vacation where the house adds a huge value to your time together. We do view our guests as if they are our friends, and so when friends visit from afar, we obviously want them to have the best time they can and have at their disposal all the things they need so there is just positive time together. This is definitely one of the best descriptions of The Homestead I have seen so far.. Thank you and I hope you come back soon!

Cozy House with Plenty of Amenities

  • 5 of 5

The Homestead is a cozy house with plenty of amenties such as a game room, all the kitchen supplies you would need, and everything you would have at home. It was also conveniently located about 10-15 mins from Blue Mountain. The house is well-maintained and comfortable on a quiet property. Michael was easy to reach during the booking process and the whole process from booking to check-in to check-out was streamlined and organized. Thanks!

Love this place and did not want to leave!

  • 5 of 5

I could not be more impressed with the Homestead - Mr. Green has created the perfect vacation spot. I hosted a family reunion here, and then stayed to enjoy the property the following day - it was a huge success!

A few of the details-

1.) The land and the house are beautiful. Both are thoughtfully designed and there are so many interesting things to look at. The decorations in the house alone are fascinating. My father is a woodworker and peeked in on Mr. Green's woodshed with great appreciation - the house feels like it is cared for by someone with an eye for beauty and function.

2.) I could spend a week just sitting on the huge porch rocking and looking at the forest but there is a fire pit, a creek, a very large game room, dozens of games, a horseshoe pit and much more - we didn't even begin to exhaust the possibilities

3.) EVERYTHING you need - things I didn't even know I needed were there, carefully organized, and labeled for easy finding. There are lots of little signs to answer questions, which makes it even easier.

4.) Mr. Green got back to me with answers to all of my questions very quickly and was very helpful. Checkout instructions were clear and easy to follow.

5.)Very close to Palmerton for groceries, etc., but you would never know. The house and land feel secluded and peaceful.

It was difficult to leave this morning - we loved this place and it has set a new standard of dream house. HIGHLY recommend!

Owner's Response: Well Juliet, It warms my heart when someone really "gets" what I have tried to accomplish with The Homestead.. my vision for this property was from the beginning to create a destination where you could reunite with your family, your friends, and build new memories without ever needing to leave the property. The house is filled with lots of cool and interesting things I have collected over the years.. never a dull moment if you take the time to appreciate them, as you and your family clearly did. My heart was warmed by the incredible review you wrote and the note you left on the counter for me at the house. It is groups like yours that make this business worthwhile and fulfilling. Thank you Juliet and I certainly hope you come back next year!

Perfect Getaway in the Poconos

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a three day weekend at the Homestead and had a fantastic time. The owner, Michael, is so helpful and has provided every convenience imaginable to his guests. We love the story behind the building of the home and the feel of it was absolutely charming! The home itself sits on beautiful land and is accessible to several great destinations. We loved playing foosball and air hockey at night after a long day visiting local sites. We will definitely be back! Thanks for all your help, Michael! You were fantastic!
