About Michael Green

A building contractor for most of my adult life, I now find myself semi-retired and able to enjoy some travel and freedom. My vacation rental business fits perfectly into my lifestyle, because it puts me in contact with others who like to explore new places and have the resources of time and money to follow through.. I also know from my travels what it is like to get to a destination and to have your pre-arranged accommodations wind up being a catastrophe... so my vacation rentals, while all being very different in personality and location, all provide a great value and are exactly as advertised...

Michael Green purchased this house in 1947

Why Michael Green chose Blue Mountain

My father built the original house in 1947, and I bought it from my mother about 10 years ago as my primary residence when I move to Pennsylvania from Annapolis, Maryland after a long stint in the construction business there. I love this house with all my heart, and I have made major changes throughout the years, both outside and in. In the pictures you can see the huge addition that I built which contains my wood shop and below that a garage. However I was bitten by the travel bug a few years ago and so it seemed a better idea to rent the house to others who may also enjoy the incredible vibe the place has to offer.. so I get the best of both worlds.. when the house is not occupied I still get use of it, and I also get to share my love for the place with others. Now it all makes sense.

What makes this house unique

Where to begin? Where can you find a house with so much charm, surrounded by 9 acres of privately owned nature, with not just one but two spring fed mountain streams within a stones throw of the house, and yet still just 5 minutes outside of the quaint town of Palmerton where you can get every service you need for your time away. Add to this a fire pit which is only 25 feet from the stream, a nature trail, a huge wrap around porch with a gas grill... this house would be impossible to duplicate in today's market.

Love this place and did not want to leave!

  • 5 of 5

I could not be more impressed with the Homestead - Mr. Green has created the perfect vacation spot. I hosted a family reunion here, and then stayed to enjoy the property the following day - it was a huge success!

A few of the details-

1.) The land and the house are beautiful. Both are thoughtfully designed and there are so many interesting things to look at. The decorations in the house alone are fascinating. My father is a woodworker and peeked in on Mr. Green's woodshed with great appreciation - the house feels like it is cared for by someone with an eye for beauty and function.

2.) I could spend a week just sitting on the huge porch rocking and looking at the forest but there is a fire pit, a creek, a very large game room, dozens of games, a horseshoe pit and much more - we didn't even begin to exhaust the possibilities

3.) EVERYTHING you need - things I didn't even know I needed were there, carefully organized, and labeled for easy finding. There are lots of little signs to answer questions, which makes it even easier.

4.) Mr. Green got back to me with answers to all of my questions very quickly and was very helpful. Checkout instructions were clear and easy to follow.

5.)Very close to Palmerton for groceries, etc., but you would never know. The house and land feel secluded and peaceful.

It was difficult to leave this morning - we loved this place and it has set a new standard of dream house. HIGHLY recommend!

Owner's Response: Well Juliet, It warms my heart when someone really "gets" what I have tried to accomplish with The Homestead.. my vision for this property was from the beginning to create a destination where you could reunite with your family, your friends, and build new memories without ever needing to leave the property. The house is filled with lots of cool and interesting things I have collected over the years.. never a dull moment if you take the time to appreciate them, as you and your family clearly did. My heart was warmed by the incredible review you wrote and the note you left on the counter for me at the house. It is groups like yours that make this business worthwhile and fulfilling. Thank you Juliet and I certainly hope you come back next year!

Perfect Getaway in the Poconos

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a three day weekend at the Homestead and had a fantastic time. The owner, Michael, is so helpful and has provided every convenience imaginable to his guests. We love the story behind the building of the home and the feel of it was absolutely charming! The home itself sits on beautiful land and is accessible to several great destinations. We loved playing foosball and air hockey at night after a long day visiting local sites. We will definitely be back! Thanks for all your help, Michael! You were fantastic!

Beautiful and Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

I rented the Homestead with a small group of friends for Labor Day Weekend and it was everything we hoped for and more! The fantastic porch, beautifully kept park-like yard, hammock by the stream, and fire pit made relaxing outdoors a highlight as it allowed us to enjoy what remained of the summer. The interior is fully furnished, clean, and decorated to feel like a cozy home. Michael left very helpful notes throughout the house explaining how work appliances and where to find certain items making the Homestead very guest-friendly upon arrival. Micheal has also fully stocked the house and yard with activities like horseshoes, air hockey, darts, board games, books, and more so you could never possibly be bored. The house is very conveniently located for white water rafting and I would love to return in the winter and take advantage of the location for a ski trip!

Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

This home allowed my family to decompress from our hectic everyday life. The kids utilized the basement with its endless options for recreation and the outdoor space was perfect too. My wife and I enjoyed the open porch and beautiful, peaceful surroundings. I would recommend this home to anyone wanting to detach from their everyday pace and wind down.

Even better in person!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed here and loved it! From the beginning til end this was an aweseome experience. Michael was always very prompt when I would email him questions in regards to dates and his home is very well kept! We had friends over one night and family another and the porch was a HIT! Everyone asked where I found the property and how I came across it. Everyone fell in love with he house. It was a hit with all the adults and kids! The kids ran around the property squealing with delight and at night caught fireflies. It was great. Thank you Michael for your house and hospitality. Well definately be back again!

Thanks Michael!

Serenity Awaits!

  • 5 of 5

Words cannot describe the peace and serenity which is part of the ambience of this home.

Every last detail has gone into making the stay here once in a lifetime, with everlasting memories.

Nothing has been overlooked.

Its perfectly located to give you both the rural and private feeling, and close enough to all the major attractions and sites which you may want to visit.

Don't worry about getting lost, the home comes with a GPS navigation system with everywhere you may need to go already programmed in!

The exterior porch is a favorite sitting spot, and as a family we spent hours just relaxing there and watching nature run it's course.

At night, the sound of the streams is all you hear as your evening comes to a close.

I could have stayed on the porch reading during my stay, because even the books on sight are appealing.

The fact that I left my glasses at home wasn't even an issue,,because there are spare reading glasses provided also.

Its like I said earlier,,,No detail in this charming home has been left out.

This trip was chicken soup for my family's soul, and we are already planning our return trip with no need to look elsewhere.

The place was so perfect!
