We bought this house in 2002 after searching for two years for a house that felt like it was made for Hawaii. We finally found this house and have been very happy with it. We improve it in some way each time we come, for example during the last trip we added new fishtail palms to the garden, replaced the TV in the Queen Bedroom and hung new artwork. The house is a work in progress, it just keeps getting better. We are a family of four, with two daughters, including our older daughter who has a spinal cord injury. It was for her that we added the wheelchair ramp to the front porch, insisted on a single level floor plan and have a shower bench that can be installed when needed.
Laurel Moorhead purchased this house in 2002
We love Kaua'i. We have been coming regularly since 1994 and began looking for a house in 2000. We chose the North Shore because of the beauty of the area, the limited development, the easy access to beautiful beaches and hiking. We chose Princeville because of the accessibility to shopping, beaches and hikes. Grant loves to golf, Laurie walks for hours each day, Marissa loves to jump off the pier in Hanalei Bay and Sara likes to walk to the library and shoot hoops at the neighborhood basketball court.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Yoga House. It was welcoming from the moment we entered the door into the open great room with its 20 ft. high wood beamed ceilings, wood floors and windows overlooking palm trees and tropical foliage.
The large covered lanai is a treat. Plenty of room for 6 or more. Perfect for morning coffee and breakfast as well as a relaxing spot for an evening meal or beverage and recap our day's adventure. Yoga House is centrally located in Princeville equally close to Hanalei and all its beautiful beaches and to Kilauea. It is on a quiet side street away from the traffic on the main road yet walking distance to Queen's Bath and just a couple minutes from Princeville Center with its shops and grocery store.
The house is well equipped and very comfortable. Including plenty of amenities like coolers, beach towels, mats, snorkel gear, etc. to use on the beach or for being out for the day. As someone who did a lot of the cooking I loved the quality of the cookware and kitchen overall. Every room had louvered screened windows which made for great air flow throughout the house. The tropical air and breeze was refreshing and preferred compared to the sterile closed up feel of using AC.
There was plenty of entertainment and information available. Board games, books, guide books, DVDs for both kids and adults. Thru the Blu Ray player you can sign into your Netflix (or other streaming) account and watch the shows & movies you want.
The Yamaha sound bar was great. You can use Blue Tooth to play music thru the sound bar via a tablet or smart phone. My only minor critique was, and maybe I just didn't find it, was I didn't see an aux input to connect an older iPod which didn't have Blue Tooth capability. I brought a variety of music but it wasn't on any of our iPads or phones. Like I said, maybe I missed it but a docking station or aux input would be great. Speaking of various devices, we had a half dozen iPads, Kindle Fire and phones being used simultaneously and no issues with the Wi-Fi.
Overall, Yoga House is a great place to stay for couples, families with kids of all ages and is also ADA equipped, which was important for us. It was very clean and well organized. We are already planning a future stay.
Laurel was wonderful to communicate with. Quick in response with thorough and detailed info. Thank you for having your wonderful home available for us to enjoy!
The photos don't do justice to the charm and seclusion of this wonderful house. The yard and surroundings are nicely maintained and everything is very comfortable and clean. All North Shore attractions are a short drive away.
We would definitely recommend to friends and definitely come back when we're on Kauai again
No surprises..comfortable, excellent beds and shower, great air and pretty much bug-free and one rooster that gets up at 4:50 The lanai view is to be remembered and good seat for when a shower scoots, reading, or a snooze. Plenty of kitchen "hardware" an easy house to live in.
My family and I stayed at the Yoga House in September for 9 days. The house exceeded our expectations. Our family felt at home immediately. The house was clean and well stocked with just about everything we could need, from bird watching binoculars to boogie boards and ice chests. We have been to Kauai many times before and have always stayed in condos, but this time we wanted more space for our older children and their friends. This home has plenty of space, indoors and out. Comfortable furnishings, huge deck with a BBQ, nice kitchen with just about everything you could need, lots of room for everybody in the living room/dining room area, three big bedrooms and a loft. The outdoor shower is really cool when you are all sandy after a day at the beach.I had never rented from VRBO before and was a little nervous about not using some kind of agency for booking. But Laurel was great to work with right from the start and helped us through the process. She also answered many questions we had promptly via email. If you are done with the condo/resort experience and are looking to stay in a home on Kauai, this is a great choice. If you are traveling with a large group, do yourself a favor and shop at Costco. You will save a pile of money! I plan on renting this home again when I visit Kauai in the future and I have recommended this home to my friends.
We loved our stay at the Yoga house. The house was equipped with everything we needed, including beach and snorkeling gear. There was something magical about hanging out at night on the lanai with a glass of good wine listening to the rain. I highly recommend this home for families.
The awesome Yoga House

The Yoga House was so much more than we expected. Our family of six comfortably stayed for two and a half weeks. The large, great room was a fantastic common area for all of us to relax after playing on the many nearby beaches. The three separate bedrooms plus loft provided the perfect sleeping and chill out spaces.
The owners take great care of their property, and it truly shows in and out of the house. As we first stepped in from the large front lanai, we instantly knew we found the perfect vacation home away from home. The open beam ceilings and wood flooring give it a homey and yet Hawaiian feel. We were really hoping that a vacation home in Princeville would not feel like an "anyplace" home. The Yoga House really felt like a house that belonged in Kaua'i.
I think our favorite spot in the house was the 200 square foot covered lanai just off the great room. We ate all of our meals at the six person table. The fact the house sits adjacent to a green belt really provides the perfect feeling of outdoor openness one can only wish for. Whether it was sunny or rainy, the covered lanai was the perfect space.
The house sits back from a main loop road and feels very secluded. We especially enjoyed walking around the property as well as walking to the Primceville Shopping Center for early morning coffee. Just walking through the neighborhood provides a tranquil and serene Kaua'ian experience.
Would we return again to the Yoga House? Absolutely, in a heartbeat, no questions asked. We just hope it will be available the next time we can make it over to Nani Kaua'i!
Mahalo Nui Loa to the owners for sharing their beautiful 'hale' with the VRBO world.
