The redhead next to me is my wife Ana.
We have 2 daughters who are grown and are on their own ( not really, if you are a parent you know) and a 14 pound Schnoodle ( he thinks he is a giant). We have been living in the DC metro area for about 36 years and absolutely love it. Washington DC is a beautiful city, it really is and for people coming here to spend their vacations or attend conferences, weddings, funerals (The Arlington Cemetery), graduations, sight seeing, festivals etc. etc. there isn't any city that offers so much.
I manage the properties and Ana tells me what to do (!!!) We are a great team and enjoy doing what we do.
Allen purchased this townhome in 2011

The apartment suited our needs perfectly. We were attending a conference near Dupont Square and so the location was very convenient. Located nearby are a wealth of good restaurants and bars, so finding a place to spend our evenings was never a challenge. The Adams Morgan neighbourhood is very nice and seems like one of the 'places to be' in DC.
The apartment was very clean and clearly well cared for. Everything you would expect was provided. Allen clearly cares about his guests having an enjoyable stay.
However, some things are worth pointing out. The apartment is a basement and so it was quite humid and stuffy at times, despite the air conditioning being on. Also, as a result of being in the basement, when the upstairs neighbours are walking around it is quite loud. These two things didn't really bother us, but they may be quite annoying to other people.
We enjoyed the five nights we spent here. When the metro was shut down for maintenance, having the bus stop feet away from the door turned out to be a nice bonus. Otherwise, we always walked the few blocks to the metro, which was no problem for us or our two kids, 11/13. Beds were good, shower was good, linens were nice. Allen had the apartment stocked with dish and clothes detergent so we didn't have to buy them, which was nice bonus. We stocked the fridge with breakfast stuff from the Safeway and CVS which were nearby, so we enjoyed leisurely mornings before long days sight seeing. We got great sandwiches from So's Your Mom for a few dinners "at home." The only thing I'd really recommend is putting an alarm clock in the apartment. We had to get up super early to get to the airport so it would have been helpful to have that.
We had a lovely time in this great apartment. No surprises, Allen has advertised this exactly as it is. Although there is excellent public transport, we walked EVERYWHERE.
Good beds, nice linen, plenty of towels, a very comfortable experience.
Allen was timely and friendly in his communications and was over in ten minutes to help out when the suburb had a water outage.
Being in Adams Morgan is a major bonus, great restaurants and terrific vibe. Check out Jack Rose for stunningly good cocktails. Harris Teeter supermarket provides great prepared meals to take home and reheat, a very economical and tasty option.
Exactly as advertised. Great apartment in a fantastic neighborhood.
My group of 5 (2 moms w young adult daughters) on visit for 5 days. Great apartment. Very well appointed, very clean, very comfortable. Super accessible to metro-Best way to get around DC. Funky hip area full of restaurants. Walkable to DuPont Circle. Felt very safe. People walking and jogging until late. Owner very accommodating. Returns texts or calls immediately. Very nice to work with. Basement apt so can be difficult for some to walk down the narrow steps. Loved it!!!
My family of four stayed here for a week in during our stay in the DC area. We all loved this basement apartment. It was well appointed with all of the amenities we needed, i.e. full kitchen, washer and dryer, iron, etc. The neighborhood was very nice as well and had an eclectic feel to it. The walk to the nearest Metro was about 10 minutes and wasn't bad at all. We also took the bus to the Washington National Cathedral, which stops right in front of the apartment. Allen provided excellent service. We shopped at the nearby Safeway and Harris Teeter for groceries and had pizza delivered one evening. Also ate at the Mintwood Place. Food and service were excellent and they accommodated our young children very well.
My only complaint is we heard people walking in the apartment above us starting early each morning.
