Amazing Room & Stay!!

  • 5 of 5

I just returned from my vacation on 7/1/16 and it was absolutely amazing!! The room was everything that I wanted and more. You can't ask for a better view of the beach and water. I believe that this was one of the best hotels on the beach. The hotel staff was very helpful and pleasant. The room and hotel was clean. The owners were very nice to work with and answered all of my questions and provided everything that I needed. You can do snorkeling, jet skiing, fishing...etc. for a fee.

I will be back again and again... I have actually already started looking at new dates. I will be recommending Gus & Mary to everyone that will be staying in Fort Lauderdale.

The only downside was the hotel restaurant....not really much of a selection for food or drinks. But the hotel does provide an amazing view of the beach.

Great Location

  • 4 of 5

We spent 8 nights at the Atlantic and virtually everything was as advertised. The owners were very accommodating and we were able to get early check in and late check out which made our last day unhurried to catch an early evening flight home. The unit was clean and equipped with most everything needed. The view is spectacular and the staff was very friendly and helpful. In the spirit of constructive advice to make the unit even more appealing, the coffee maker is of a type that doesn't allow you to buy the single cup packets at a grocery store. You have to get them from the front desk, and depending who is on the desk, they either charged or if you asked nicely, they gave you some. There is always the option of going downstairs and getting the complimentary coffee in the lobby and bringing it back to the unit. I would rather have had a small table and 2 chairs to eat inside rather than the desk and the lounging chair and ottoman but that is nitpicking. There are no small sharp knives for cutting rolls, cheese etc. We bought a few things at Publix like a sponge, paper towels, dish washing liquid that perhaps should be there to help keep the unit clean. If you go to the beach be aware that it costs $12 for each chaise and $20 for an umbrella. There a few places that will rent smaller beach chairs for less. The main restaurant is Beauty and The Feast. I would give them average marks altogether. We ate dinner there twice an both times we weren't close to being through with our appetizer when the main course came out. The first time we let it go, the 2nd time we sent it back and overall the waitstaff was overwhelmed and forgot several things. Two offsite places to rave about are Trulucks an upscale seafood restaurant in the galleria, a little pricey but worth it. Then our favorite is Tony D's a short cab ride away. Great food, great friendly service, reasonably priced and music for our generation (60's and 70's music) made for a great night out. Went back a 2nd night. All told we got exactly what we wanted out of the vacation and would recommend it to others

Great Stay at The Atlantic!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying in Gus & Mary's unit at The Atlantic in Ft. Lauderdale. Everything was just exactly as they said it would be and the pictures posted reflected the unit exactly. It's in a perfect location within the building - high up and directly facing the ocean. So beautiful. We loved eating breakfast on the balcony. Also, The Atlantic is in a great location too - right on the beach and just a few blocks from the noisier area. Great restaurants right nearby. Easy to get to the supermarket also. All in all, it was a great stay. I will say the Wi-Fi there is horrible but the hotel staff told us they knew this and were working on fixing that. It would not stop me at all though from staying here again.

Also, shout out to Mary and Gus for being so easy to work with. This was my first time using VRBO and they were patient and answered all my questions very quickly and thoroughly. They made the process so easy and I would definitely deal with them again in the future.

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I greatly enjoyed staying in this unit at the Atlantic. We absolutely loved the view of the ocean from the room and enjoyed sleeping with the balcony door open so we could hear the waves crashing on the beach. We worked out at the fitness center each day we were there and we also booked spa services on Thursday and Saturday. The food we ordered from the restaurant located near the pool was not very good; however, we loved the food in the restaurant near the lobby. It was very windy while we were there and the red flags were flying each day except Sunday when we had to leave. My husband is not that much of a beach person and enjoys hearing, seeing, and smelling the ocean more so than laying by it or getting in it so it didn't inconvenience us. My favorite activity that we did that I would recommend to future renters is the Jungle Queen Dinner Cruise. We used a Groupon for this and walked from the Atlantic to the Bahia Mar to board the boat. The boat takes you to an isle where they serve all you can eat barbecue ribs, chicken, spiced peel and eat shrimp, potato wedges, baked beans, rolls, and cole slaw. The food far surpassed our expectations and we also enjoyed the tour down the New River and seeing all of the million dollar houses and yachts. Another benefit to staying in the Atlantic was the fact that most of the younger crowd was down the beach closer to the restaurants and bars. We did not have any spring breakers staying in the hotel and we were very thankful of that. The kitchenette was also a plus and we enjoyed making breakfast and occasionally pasta for lunch. We chose not to rent a car due to the expense of parking and were pleasantly surprised that the Dania Casino offers a free shuttle with pickup and drop off at the Atlantic. I would suggest using Uber also as it seemed cheaper than a taxi if you choose not to rent a car. We had a great time and would definitely be interested in staying in this unit again if we return to Fort Lauderdale in the future.

OUR BEST STAY YET!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time during our stay. The unit was clean, spacious and provided all of the amenities we could ask for. It was quiet and the view was fantastic. Thank you so much for the quick responses when we had questions, and thank you for the extended checkout since we had such a late flight. You guys were lifesavers!

Since we visit the area quite often, we've had the pleasure of staying in several of the top-notch resorts in the area, including the W, the Ritz Carlton and the B (before it relocated). I would say the Atlantic fits right in. The resort itself was very nice and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The resort was always spotless and the ambiance was top notch. From the art on the walls to the aromatic scent in the air, we were not let down. The Atlantic is a great location if you want to really enjoy what FLB has to offer. You don't need your car for anything. You have everything you need within a short walking distance.

The staff was always friendly and helpful. We enjoyed several days at the pool where the pool staff and bartenders made sure we didn't lift a finger. We were also able to relax at the spa on several occasions. The spa staff was welcoming and they made us feel right at home. I also want to mention that the valet staff was one of the best we've seen!

We look forward to staying with you guys in the near future!

Clean, easy access to the beach, and friendly staff.

  • 4 of 5

Our room had a perfect view of the ocean as advertised. It was very clean and spacious. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. The pool here is small and only 4 feet deep at it's deepest. Had I known that I would have stayed elsewhere. The lighting in the kitchenette area was not working throughout our stay. Other than one vending machine for drinks and one for snacks there is no place to buy anything like suntan lotion toothpaste etc. You have to go out and get anything you may need.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your comments. We are happy to see you liked it so much as well as the staff treatment. The lighting in the kitchenette area was working. It is just the way you make it work a little bit tricky. A quick call to the front desk would have solved the problem and I also provided my phone numbers indicating to call in case of any issues.
