We are country folk at heart who live and work most of the year in the biggest city in the USA: New York, which makes our appreciation for Maine, our land, home and gardens all the more important.

My family and I spent a week in this house and we loved it. The open space inside was great for cooking and relaxing, and the space outside was great for our young kids to run around. Our hosts were gracious and were more then happy to give us advice for hiking, swimming, and places to take our dog. We would stay again for sure.
The Greenhouse was very clean and well appointed. Spacious for two people with a large master bedroom nice living dining area. Large yard with patio set in a quiet compound well located just outside Southwest Harbor but within walking distance.
Hosts provided detailed information about the house local hikes, restaurants and so much more. It was very helpful and they were very easy to communicate with and very responsive when we couldn't figure out the TV.
Overall a great getaway.
We really enjoyed our stay. Place was clean and great location. Owner was very responsive to any issues we had. Very good value for price. Kitchen was fully stocked. The only reason we did not give 5 stars was for 2 reasons:
1. master bed is very small.
2. No window shades on bedroom windows. The rooms was complete light at 5am.
We just spent a wonderful long weekend in Southwest Harbor. It was the fourth of July weekend, so we were thrilled to be on the quiet side of the island! Less than 25 minutes to Bar Harbor, it was ideal to be able to pop over and then get away. There is great hiking trails within the mile and Echo Lake is around the corner. Grocery store was ideally located to be able to swing through on the way home. The house has a great open concept downstairs with cool cement floors for the hot days. Spacious bedrooms upstairs with a very nice bath. We appreciated the welcome basket and the kitchen had it all, down to the coffee filters. Wonderful, accessible owners. We would stay here again for sure.
The Greenhouse, a converted barn-like structure, offers an open first-floor plan, great for hanging out, cooking and dining. The grounds are expansive with lawn, garden and patio. A nearby second rental property from same owners was a bonus for our extended family.
The down-to-earth community of Southwest Harbor, much less touristy than Bar Harbor, has plenty of activities for visitors and locals alike. A multitude of hikes, views, excursions, superb lobster rolls and blueberry pies are all easily accessible.
Review October, 2014
We highly recommend the Greenhouse. We stayed for a week during fall color season. As other reviewers have noted, the cottage was spotless and comfortable, and the owners were both thoughtful and helpful.
We would add that this is an artist’s cottage. Every corner has something for the imagination. The Morrison Hotel poster above the coat rack. The bentwood rocker in the main bedroom. The interplay of sheet metal and wood on the downstairs level makes a delightful reference to the cottage’s barn-like shape. The Greenhouse makes a wonderful romantic getaway.
