2012 remodel of 1930's Spanish, overlooking the trees, waterfalls and lake known as the Rowena Reservoir. Indoor/outdoor California living at its very best. Quiet, serene neighborhood near EVERYTHING, nestled just below Griffith Park's trails, streams, Zoo, horses, golf and tennis courts.
Private lake view deck for your morning coffee, sunset glass of wine or just lake and hummingbird viewings. Or arrange with us to use the expansive lake view terrace (by request if we're not using it).
New gourmet kitchen, spacious living room & dining room gorgeous finishes. Large bedroom & closet, washer/dryer.
Abundant street parking (the road is below the view!).
One king size bed is the only sleeping accommodation (for 1 or 2 persons).
Advanced sound proofing means you don't hear us next door (although we're quiet anyway). We're right next door if you need anything-- but you'll never hear-- or probably even see us, if you don't.
WALK to the Silver Lake Trader Joe's the Silverlake Gelson's supermarket and many of Silverlake's wonderful restaurants and shops.
People love to walk our neighborhood of gently rolling hills (and a few bigger ones) to enjoy a look at the mansions up the hill, the geese on the lake, the charming small apartment buildings, the wonderful gardens.
10 minute drive to Hollywood, Downtown, Glendale, Burbank.
Silverlake or Silver Lake or any other way you like at it's finest. We are actually located in Los Feliz, (which has it's own lovely eating/dining/shopping strip--Hillhurst Avenue). But we're just a block from Silverlake's most charming shopping area.
Gay couple owners-- you KNOW that means great garden and smashing interior.
John Denissen purchased this apartment in 2009
We love the water~ moved here from Venice beach. Here we look at beautiful blue water and waterfalls PLUS we're close to everything!
Charming neighborhood of older homes (and a few mansions) but an easy walk to Trader Joe's, restaurants, Gelsons. Minutes by car to downtown (Disney Hall, Music Center, museums...) Glendale (Americana), Hollywood and West Hollywood, the LA Zoo and Autry Museum
After renting numerous properties in and around LA, we have finally found a gem. You can never tell from pictures or words what you will get when you open the door. This Silver Lake property met and exceeded our expectations.
Other than a few simple emails, I never met or spoke with the owner yet I had his contact information in case it was needed.
We've learned our lesson to keep on trying and trying until you find a place worth a return visit. And this is such a place.
This property is beautiful and very large for a one bedroom. It was sparklingly clean, overlooks the reservoir and has an amazing patio/grill area. John sent incredibly clear instructions and was very hospitable and welcoming. The location is also wonderful and just in case you don't have a car, you can actually walk to a few restaurants and bars which is not always the norm in LA! I would definitely return to this property for future visits.
This is the third time we have stayed here. Obviously we like it because we keep coming back. I can only echo all the positive statements from all the other 5 star reviews. Highly recommended.
John and Steve have created a mini-paradise. Their taste, the lay out, the kitchen, the bed, the shower, patio, views are all tops. We visit our son a couple of times a year and always try to return to this spot. That it is close to food shopping is a big plus since I like to cook. The AC is perfect- if I've left anything out, I can assure you they haven't. They are always quick to respond to any questions and make an effort to accommodate.
We enjoyed our stay in LA. Location was great and house was very nice. Easy access to parks and downtown.
PROS: -Beautiful "home away from home"; descriptions are accurate
-Quiet, peaceful and convenient location; walkable neighborhood
-Sleek, roomy, modern decor with attention to details; well maintained
-Prepared several breakfasts and a dinner with ease due to well-equipped kitchen
-Nice outside patio to sit/eat
-Grill helped prepare a wonderful dinner
-Very comfortable king bed
CONS: -No floor mat in bathroom was provided
-An extra set of towels would have been nice
-Both sides of bed would benefit from a small table
We did not see the owners but were always able to communicate if the need arose.
Why pay for a hotel, when this place is roomy and less expensive???
We will return to this location when visiting LA again !!!
Near Disney Hall (and other Downtown theaters & museums), Glendale (Americana at Brand), Hollywood, West Hollywood, La Brea Tar Pits, Farmer's Market, The Grove, The Greek Theater, The Hollywood Bowl, Griffith Park, The Griffith Observatory, Burbank, Universal Studios...
